WOW!! Beautiful. Please, please. One slight correction. Sometimes disconnecting the transmission breather screw does not always disconnect the ground circuit. You may have optional accessories that are also grounded. Please check with a volt meter before removing the front cover. If the bike is completely stock - no problem. Mine is not. Anyway thank you for another great video.

A great solution for bent or broken camshaft noses. I've seen a few that were, and the signals were distorted. It is a good extra step to remove the spark plugs before rotating engine with rotor bolt. Signed BMW technician, BMW airhead shop owner.

I owned a 1972 R75/5 for 30 years and installed 2 different electronic ignition systems on it. While I was touring in Montana, one side of the electronic ignition failed and I rode it for 60 miles on one cylinder to the nearest BMW dealer. They diagnosed the failed electronic ignition and installed my original points plate and condenser (that I always carried with me) so that I could continue on my trip. I like this newer system as it keeps the points and condenser in situ and makes it very easy to revert back to the OEM ignition system! Excellent video! I love the old Airheads. 😍

Looks like a really easy install! I like that all the original ignition parts stay in place.

Cool idea. I put one on my airhead and it failed only after 1200 miles in the middle of the Desert. No cell phone then. I switched back to points really quickly. It's not hard to adjust the timing and the points.

In 1975 I ought an add-on transistor framus from JC Whitney. It was mainly a mounting problem. That /5 would light up first kick at 25 degrees f. It was nice to not have to fiddle with the points. And I think the timing didn’t change over time either.

Watch out! Removing the negative ground might NOT actually discount ALL grounds depending on add accessories you may have added to the bike over time. PLEASE, PLEASE check that circuit with a DC volt meter before proceeding. Anyway, great video as always.

That looks like a great kit, the fact there's no cutting and could go back so quickly to original is a plus. What was the cost and web site, thanks again 👍

Looks like the Finally found out, that the old system with hall sensors were lousy.
I installed a system like that on a Guzzi with permanent magnet, and they had sen me the wrong sensor, not particularly impressed with that Sachse Ignition. 😡

Are you using a timing light with a variable knob/wheel that ranges from 0-60?
I have the same ignition on my R100 and I am trying to use the chart that is provided but am confused.
I see “S” and “F” (at 3,500rpm) at 6 degrees on the timing wheel, but the chart provided in the instructions shows “F” at 32-34 range.
Should the timing light always be set to 0 degrees, or do you change the wheel/dial to different degrees based on what RPM you are revving at?

Do you have any idea if this is compatible with a high output alternator? I think the 300-400 amp kits.

Maybe it’s just an English language thing versus American English (is there such a thing??) but adding “super” is super annoying. That aside great video, but I’ll have to try watching it again as I got super distracted the first time.
