Darn, that is too bad. Having driven that track in a kart a couple times, I can say for sure that the move on the other driver's part was definitely not right. For him to carry that little speed through turn 5, then step out of the racing line before turn 6 (where a good amount of passing takes place) shows the inexperience. Hopefully his lack of race experience did not cost you too much.
Up to that moment was a great drive taking no prisioners , it took a driver rockie mistake and lack of awareness to put an end of what it could've been a podium or a race win , as a fellow racer we dust off and go again 🏁🏆

Way too much vibration in a kart for mirrors to be of any help. It's understood in karting, indeed in all racing, that you don't just make moves left and right on a straight with karts behind you. It's a rookie/amateur mistake on the part of the ahead driver.
My opinion is that mirrors should be mandatory in Superkart. If a competitor, doesn't have the ability or responsibility to move his/her head during a straight to assess his/her position in relation to the positions of the other competitors, then the rule makers should take the responsibility of taking measures to prevent potentially dangerous incidents similar to the one illustrated in this video.
Agreed. Having no safety cages or head barriers in such fast vehicles it`s absolutely mandatory to have a rule for surrounding situation observation by turn passing driver.
Man, I used to run a 125cc Rotax/Zip kart at Willow Springs many moons ago. Never had a fool pull that kind of a move. That was so abrupt, really stupid. Good thing he didn`t do it a fraction sooner, might have launched you. Are these 250 singles (aprox 50hp)?
These carts need side mirrors. That is the track I went to racing school at. Looks like the guy went wide right then drifted straight into you as you were heading up to what they call the rainbow curve. It was all the other guys fault.
there are proximity alerts for blind spots built into mirrors of some cars. they flash a color from the mirror. why not simply mount the sensor and have a 2 color led for each side of the kart. say yellow for within 2 feet of the rear of kart and red for half way into you have the sensors mounted on each side. that may help racers to be aware of possible overtake and legitimate distance for having right of way as well. visual no audible. Well its only a thought of what if . Maybe an idea along this idea may be feasible. sure sux Laguna is my home track. The Karts always have good runs here. great fun to watch when given a chance to run clean.

The kart being overtaken should "hold his line", unfortunately, it is usually the responsibility of the "overtaking" kart.

Number 9 kart did 2 strange moves, one in the middle of turn 5 wich kill his speed, and then again on the stright when both crashed.
