Eating BEEF increases your risk of colon cancer? | Dr Pal
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 чер 2023
- Studies show that when you cook beef at high temperatures carcinogenic compounds like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic amines are produced. This can cause DNA damage and could potentially lead to colon cancer.
100 grams of red meat per day increased the risk of colon cancer by 17%. Given this possible risk, I recommend eating once every couple of weeks. The risk is also because beef has no fiber, eat your beef with lots of vegetables.

Fibre is not an essential nutrient. A nutrient is something that can be broken down into it's constituent molecules and be absorbed and ultilised by the body for biological functions. Fibre is not a substance that can be broken down by the human digestive system and absorbed. 95%+ of it passes directly throught your system and into the toilet; given humans lack the ability to produce beta amylases, the ezymes required to breakdown beta 1,4, 1,6 and 2,1 glycosidic linkages (cellulose, lignan, hemi-cellulose, inulin) into usable carbohydrates.

Most people who have 100 gm of red meat per day, most of their source is fast food so they are people who are used to eating junk food on regular basis. and not just junk food that has beef but other super unhealthy oily crap too. It is safe to assume the same people have other unhealthy habits too. Incorrect. He cited 2 research articles, and the other one is based on data collected over 1 decade from more than 60,000 participants from European Union. Also red meat was delineated from processed meat in the study. Sometimes despite the evidence, we only see what we want to believe
@@abhishekvembadi1036 The research that he cited clearly says even lower amount of processed meat increases cancer risk by a lot than higher amount of red meat.
There are other research out there that says lack of sleep increases risk of cancer. Being overweight increases the risk of cancer. Other unhealthy habits like drinking alcohol , smoking also increases cancer. Processed meat is a big cancer factor. Red meat consumption in America is huge so is the cancer rate but vast majority source of red meat is junk food which has horrible ingredients, not the mention the other horrible things people eat with those junk food. People who have unhealthy diet usually have unhealthy lifestyle in general.
Also any grill mark on any food is a source of carcinogenic compound, it's not bound to just grill mark on red meat.
Other studies suggest athletes having way less risk of developing cancer even though most professional athletes are regular consumer of red meat .
There are many other greater risk factors of cancer and since red meat is very common and not served in a healthy manner in most cases, it is easy to correlate outcome of unhealthy action with red meat consumption.
Plus I can't even talk about how much researches have been done on the nutritional benefits of consuming red meat in balanced amount.
What happened is you overlooking the fact that people don't just eat read meat by itself, vast majority of people consume it through unhealthy source and most people who prepare it themselves doesn't tend to prepare it in healthy manner . Not to mention the high temperature restaurants cook their meat which leaves grill mark on the meat.
Saudi and Mexico are huge consumer of meat but somehow both of them have very low rate of cancer. Surprisingly , they have very well structured cuisine that isn't consisted of fast food and processed food and 65 grams of sugar in a little bottle of soda.
Sometimes despite the evidence, we only see what we want to believe.

Maybe eating beef makes people to invent words like ‘uncomprehendable’. Eat some vegetables and grow a brain!
So being from India or being Indian origin you eat beef ??
believe it or not a lot of people in india eat beef
There's a difference between relative and absolute risk. Absolute risk for red meat consumption is raised only marginally by tenths of a percent.

Slow Roasted Beef in a Spicy Aromatic Masala with Coconut bites and Curry leaves… Malayalee’s favorite Nadan Beef Ularthiyathu…!!
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: Indian
Keyword: beef roast, beef ularthiyathu, kerala beef fry
Servings: 4
Author: Akhila
Ingredients
2½ lb beef
25 shallots (thinly sliced)
2-3 green chilies (slit)
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
¼ tbsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chili powder
1½ tbsp coriander powder
2 tbsp pepper powder
1 tsp meat masala
½ tsp garam masala
4-6 sprigs curry leaves
¼ cup coconut bites
a pinch of mustard seeds
salt (as required)
oil (as required)
Instructions
Clean and cut beef into cube shaped pieces (preferably soup cut).
Cook the beef in a pressure cooker with salt, pepper powder, meat masala, and a little water just enough to cover the meat. Pressure cook for 2 whistles and then remove the cooker from the flame. Allow it to rest until the pressure goes off. Keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add curry leaves, sliced shallots, green chilies, and a little salt. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste, saute for a minute until the smell resides.
Add spice powders; chili, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and mix well. Make sure to turn the heat to a low while adding the spice powders, so that it does not burn.
Remove the lid from the pressure cooker and transfer the cooked beef with the remaining water to the pan, mix well with the masala and cook on a medium flame until the gravy dries out. Stir the gravy occasionally while cooking, to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Add salt as needed.
Meanwhile, heat a little oil in another pan and fry the coconut bites. As it starts to brown, add curry leaves and fry it along with the coconut bites until browned. Keep aside.
When the gravy dries out, reduce the flame to a low and saute the beef in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Add the fried curry leaves and coconut bites, and mix well together. Scrape the sides of the pan, toss until the meat is brown -black and dried out completely.
Serve hot with Rice, Porotta, Appam, Naan, or any other bread.
Notes
I have used Top Blade and Top Loin cut beef steak here, cleaned and cut into small cubes (or soup cut). You can also use Chuck Roast for this recipe.
The garam masala used in my recipe has been bought from an Indian store (Sakthi garam masala) and meat masala used is MDH meat masala. You can also use a homemade masala which is preferable. If meat masala is unavailable, you can substitute it with equivalent amount of garam masala.
Using coconut oil is recommended for all authentic Kerala recipes.

Le Europians : seriously 😂
Was that meta analysis this clip was based on done on randomized clinical trial? If not, I highly doubt it's reliable as most people have trouble remembering how much food they ate based off on memory and that makes it unreliable for any study. Besides, most negstive effects associated with meats are caused by what we eat together with the said meat. Try eating just grilled beef flavored with salt for a week and watch for results.
Eating beef is not the problem but the way you cook it is the problem.

I am on carnivore diet for five years eating only beef or lamb, salt and water. I lost 30% of my weight, sorted leaky gut, inflammation, sinus, joint pain. No more brain fog like after eating carb, imporved focus and clarity, sleep well, high energy, skin looks better and more importantly my blood pressure reduced to normal. My diet is one or two meals a day only meat with 20%+ fat, salt and water. My good cholesterol is improved and bad one gone down. Caveman diet healed my body.
That's a good joke. Meat is high in cholesterol and that cholesterol is unhealthy cholesterol.
People with heart problems are always prohibited from beef & mutton.
It is just a good source of protein & nothing

How you consume beef is also important. We add spices and turn into the best possible dish. Americans eat beef steak with just salt added and that's 100% unhealthy. Africans and Indians eat beef with spices. There's a huge population in Kenya who have been living off of beef for years. They're perfectly healthy.

Risk still doesn't prove causality. You can't really test this hypothesis in a real world setting, can you? So far it is only associative data that cannot stand for causal evidence.
Although meta analyses are high on the hierarchy of research studies, a meta analysis of bad studies will result in a poor analysis of data.
I suggest you debate this topic with someone like Dr. Paul Mason who is a strong supporter of the carnivore diet.
