For the spear on Scorpion part, the movie making the spear as a demon projectile coming out of his hand would make more sense (at the time) as Scorpion was already dead and probably had the spear embedded into him. Though when Scorpion return to the living in the reboot it would make more sense for Scorpion (Grandmaster Hasashi) to finally shoot the spear normally from his wrist rather than having a demon spear coming out of his hands. It works both ways I guess.
It’s possible that the writers for MKX were originally to use Kana & Jubei as the names of Scorpion’s deceased wife & son, but they decided to change their names to Harumi & Satoshi later on during development. Since comic book tie-ins based on video games are written while the games are still in development, it’s more likely the guy who wrote the MKX comic and later MK11 saw an early draft of MKX’s script, and just wrote the characters similar to that, instead of the final game. I don’t think it’s true, but it’s definitely possible if that was the case.
Had Conquest gone on we might have seen Takeda eventually become THAT Takeda that formed the Shirai Ryu. He's even seen clumsily trying to form a gang of warriors in a few episodes.
In a way, feel like it helped out MK as a series. Being a kid that grew up on the first MK game and all the way up to MK11, some things just work for a franchise based on trial and errors as they bounced around different ideas and influences. Maybe the ideas they saw in early iterations were like "hey, maybe we should do that instead". I mean, look at Ermac. He was just a glitch of Scorpion/Sub-Zero and now he's a "sorcerer-style" fighter. At least it helped them try to develop the characters and what kind of story they wanted to go for in the long run with MK9's reboot coming off as a more "cohesive" and "stable" story re-telling of the MK Trilogy OG. It's more I can say for games like Street Fighter that keeps their characters stagnant. At least King of Fighters has on-going story arcs every 3 games with a 4th game being a "Dream Match non-canon" version. Tekken does this well. But, it's nice to see that Williams entertainment to Midway to Netherealm basically bounced around ideas for the MK characters using different media. Talk about "never go with your first draft".
I take pride in being the person with the deepest knowledge of the MK lore on Earth, but I'm always impressed by your videos. Other "MK" youtubers like History Behind the Warrior and FireAndIce or whatever simply tell official statements and read off of MK Wiki and come off as dimwitted and incompetent, while you truly show that you do research, use your brain to evaluate each statement and bring up actually interesting points as the topic of your videos. ...still, at 7:38 you say that info comes from the site, while actually it was in the game's manual, so that's an inaccuracy. I mean I know it was also on the site, but being in the actual manual of the game takes priority.
Yeah it is why I don't watch HBTW anymore, he did a character history vid where he directly contradicted himself from one sentence to the next simply by relaying what was in the comics. How hard it is the acknowledge that inconsistencies exist and say that you prefer one version over another.
I know right. I honestly dont understand why people hating on the game so much. Some people are saying its the worst in the series for the most unimportant stuff like the girls wearing more clothing. Like get real. Its a fighting game. And plus tou can change your outfit. And just because shao kahn made a joke about donald trump, people are saying that he depicts him. I feel people are just hating on it for no reason. Like just play the game. Nitpicking the crap out of it dosent it make it any better, but uncomfortable, annoying, and less fun and isn that the point of a videogame?
@@anthonyforbes3773 yea I've grown to love it. Cause at first I was excited until I witness they took out the run button. Then I was iffy but people want mk9/mkx.

I kinda wish that instead of a tiny fucking pot shang tsung had his sword that was cut from the original game as a gear piece, that could allow for his original fatality to finally officially make it in,
Slight correction, Scorpion's Spear actually is situated on one of his hips(can't remember which one) throughout Deception and Armageddon I'm unsure on MKDA though, This can even be seen on both Shujinko and Kreate-A-Fighters in both games. Shujinko's ability to use said spear is likely a result of Onaga's given power and Scorpion training him considering that I would assume Scorpion's Training canonically consists of a decent amount of Spear moves that are unseen due to not being in gameplay.
The last part made me sad. Fun fact liden Ashby johnny cage was in a horror movie called night angel where he dealt with a female succubus or demon vampire Lilith Might as be nitara
The Science of Mortal Kombat webseries is the perfect example that MK doesn't need Adaptations with Story to get interest in people. BTW, you should do a review of that webseries, is in UA-cam :)
More on Scorpion's family, MK Legends uses MKX' s names for them; Harumi and Satoshi. Makes you wonder how any idea for Scorpion's family ever came to fruition.
Which is another reason to hate the game.I did cry though at sonyas death even though i only like Scorpion and Johnny. For some reason I felt scared at kanos death, don't know why
"Trilogy" was affected first, I believe. they went with "you've got to win 10 tournaments to invade", which is the invention of the movie. MK9 retcons aside, MK4 seems to be the most affected by non-game changes in the canon, and the most inconsistent. you can see Tobias couldn't maintain the same level of consistency there, for whatever reason (given where the company and John were at the time, I bet it wasn't all his fault).
Actually, it isn't the invention of the movie. The games before Trilogy weren't specific about how many victories are required to unbalance the furies, but the MK2 comic mentions it.
Trevor Goddard didn't portray Kano as Australian! He's cockney English, though a lot of american (Primarily I assume) audiences somehow conflated the two and so Kano became a sort of weird hybrid cockney-accented Australian-slang using... I guess he's actually Australian now too despite having more of a cockney accent in MK10, which sadly was changed to completely Australian in MK11. Not that it really matters, just wanted to point out it's actually much more complicated than it at first seemed.
How was the novel, anyway? Does it hold up? Also, not going to lie, I miss snarky Raiden. I would take him over this Raiden any day. 8:48-9:39 🤣🤣 Ngl, I'd honestly play a game with Johnny as a main character and you're not making the hankering any better. I just need to see more about his grandmother and his agent, because they sound like total badasses.

Had Conquest gone on we might have seen Takeda eventually become THAT Takeda that formed the Shirai Ryu. He's even seen clumsily trying to form a gang of warriors in a few episodes.
I'm sure that was the intention, yes.
You're the most underrated UA-camr that I know. I sincerely mean that. Great work man. I've subbed from both my accounts.
Thank you.
Oh god what happens if d’vorah is in the movies as well
What happens is fan favorite will die lmao.
Aw, hell no!
I can’t wait for the 3 hour long critique
Everyone knows tabmok99 is the Elder God of MK lore.
@@caesar1700 I don't. I'll check em out.
Tabmok's great.
So Snake is Raiden and Tabmok is The Elder God he consults
Great, video I love the the explanation very well done and thorough 🥰
Goddammit I was playing Soul Calibur 6 before my brother told me this video came out. Oh well let's watch it first.
Movie Raiden best Raiden.
I love how much I learn from your videos!!!
I wish they just remake a trilogy of movies now. Exploring the lore with some good fight scenes.
Oh man. I remember that Linden Ashby interview. I wonder if that MK movie he was talking about was gonna retcon Annihilation.
Man we need a MK bible that fixes all these mistakes so we can get everything correct.
8:33 considering the god tier shit you write, I think that might be a disservice to fanfiction
I think only half of the reason a group of people dislike mk11 is cuz they don't like change. But this change was almost too much it seem.
At this point they should rename the series to something more atune with ita state, like Retconned Kombat.
I always wanted Kung Lao and jade to end up together rip that idea
Seeing as you mentioned it in the beginning I hate when marvel and DC change their comics based on the movies.
Marvel especially if fucking horrendous for it.
That last bit, ngl even I could write a better storyline
I want HBO, Netflix, or Adult Swim to do a TV MA animated series of Mortal Kombat with gore.
I think the individual faceplate’s for the ninjas originated in the first Mortal Kombat movie.
Great job with the contents my brother!
The way this man pronounces EVERYTHING, is PAINFUL
How so?
Whaaaaat he sounds kinda Scottish to me and I love it!
You mean his accent? Not everyone sounds American, believe it or not.
5:39 page 62, Johnny Cage dies? Was someone high?
Hydro is also referenced in MK11 with his wave being a tower support item
The last part made me sad.
Fun fact liden Ashby johnny cage was in a horror movie called night angel where he dealt with a female succubus or demon vampire Lilith
Might as be nitara
Raiden was always best as a sarky bastard. Christopher Lambert and Jeff Meek are still the best portrayals in my opinion.
You do need to mention Mortal Kombat Conquest, which shows Kung Lao (The Great kung Lao, not the descendant) and Kitana's early relationship.
No Siro in any roster is a travesty
The Science of Mortal Kombat webseries is the perfect example that MK doesn't need Adaptations with Story to get interest in people.
BTW, you should do a review of that webseries, is in UA-cam :)
More on Scorpion's family, MK Legends uses MKX' s names for them; Harumi and Satoshi. Makes you wonder how any idea for Scorpion's family ever came to fruition.
Yeah I kinda wish we got a third movie after Annihilation, though it does have flaws I'm happy with 2021
I feel like mk11 Johnny wasn’t broken up about soynas death in mk11
Which is another reason to hate the game.I did cry though at sonyas death even though i only like Scorpion and Johnny. For some reason I felt scared at kanos death, don't know why
Are these the other timelines raiden saw
Shao Kahn being the god of outworld has been canon since deception. Some netherrealm or chaosrealmers says so if you play the words backwards
Warner Brothers just need to stop adapting things. They just will not stop interfering with films and ruining them.
8:37 OOF
Wait so you're saying the dude who made the re movies made the mk movies? Atfer watching mk annihilation I can see that now
Only the first one.
Hopefully that new animated movie has its own impact in that it shows why you don’t drop Patrick Syks
I'm not mad about Australian Kano.
Sonya x Johnny 4 ever.
*Sooooooo.......Hydro is Rain but dead*
Then theirs Kerry togawa reprising his role as shang tsung in legagacy and mk 11.
I want snarky Raiden back. 🥺
Edit: If we can also get Asgarth from the cartoon as DLC, that would be cool too.
How was the novel, anyway? Does it hold up?
Also, not going to lie, I miss snarky Raiden. I would take him over this Raiden any day.
8:48-9:39 🤣🤣
Ngl, I'd honestly play a game with Johnny as a main character and you're not making the hankering any better. I just need to see more about his grandmother and his agent, because they sound like total badasses.
I want to know what that script for the MK Devastation was like.
Where do you find scorpion movie spear in the krypt
6:54 that's not shang tsung, that's definitely Roman Reigns
