I would love a 2023 update this. Great video!.
Win the game like a true Sith, Elesh Norn and Nature's Revolt. You're welcome.
Ewwwww, i like it
That is so degenerate that I’m building this deck just for that
I do not LIKE it....
I LOVE IT!
😵... 👍
O...m...g YES
"She lost a color (Blue) compared to Tuvasa but in exchange she draws more cards"
When you put it like that it seems like the color pie is a suggestion. Also, Joey you're having too much fun and I love it
Except when it's just white, then it's a hard rule.
or just add her to Tuvasa? I mean you can do that...
With the current sets, that have been released, an update to sythis would be helpful to newer players.
Mana Bloom is an enchantment for XG which enters with X charge counters and bounces itself to your hand if it has no counters in your upkeep, if you pay 0 for X it'll do that in each of your upkeep , which not much can get the deck going in the early turns (not as power full as Flickering Ward or Whip Silk but a good include)
I'd love to see an episode on Beledros Witherbloom. I've seen a lot of directions to take the deck but I'd love some more insight from our resident black expert!
I built mine landfall, lifegain, tokens with large mana spells for instant wins or incremental life drain. It’s whacky to win with a scale shift or aetherflux reservoir.
I built mine with a sacrifice theme for the tokens and huge X spells to really use his ability. And obviously a sh*t ton of ramp.
I know it was spoiled after the Sythis deck was made, but Cleric Class is a banger is this deck. It powers aetherflux reservoir, it is the part of Heliod that helps to win the game (if you're not using ballista) and it can reanimate something if the board got cleared.
I've played enchantress in Legacy, and Mana Bloom has been a solid card when I played it in that deck. It's an XG enchantment that comes in with X charge counters on it. Once per turn you can remove a charge counter to get one mana of any color. Also at the beginning of your upkeep, if there are no charge counters on it, you return it to your hand. You can use this with X=1 and mana fix, allowing you to filter a white mana into a green mana or vise versa. You can also just play it as a one mana enchantment that bounces each turn, so you can keep triggering your enchantresses.
Another thing you can consider is Words of Wilding. This is the green card from the Onslaught cycle of enchantments that are 2 and one mana of their color and have an ability that is pay 1 mana to then skip the next draw you would take to do an action. This specific one creates 2/2 green bears. Using cards from this cycle allows you to control how much you draw and can prevent you from running out of cards. (I used the red one in Legacy and won a game after my opponent ultimated a Jace the Mind Sculptor)
I just want to say I appreciate the heaping helping of Star Wars puns. The council would approve.
Legit watched this 4 times now, I've been playing my Sythis deck around second sun and having a blast
I love this series! Please keep making them!
I would have chosen Skyrim puns for this video, but at least the Sith are hononary members of the Dark Brotherhood ;)
Same. I was looking for TES comments but it seems that almost nobody knows about it.
Hail Sithis
Wow, I made a list last night but I guess I'm editing it. Super similar stuff but I went more towards the voltron route. You helped me focus my Korvold deck and some others. Thanks again for another great video!
Sterling Grove is a great budget alternative to Greater Auramancy. (Oh Look! It just got a reprint!)
Crystal Chimes is a serviceable but less than stellar budget option to replace Replenish. Its added bonus here is that it allows you to re-cast all the dead enchantments and get more value.
Finally, Privileged Position deserves a slot in this deck. Especially with Sterling Grove -- the two of them protect one another and help your permanents dodge all targeted removal.
This is my favorite episode. Loving the Star Wars references
Quality commitment to the bit
Even though my list isnt aura based, i really like shield of the oversoul. its been really solid in both keeping her alive and blocking flyers.
Aaaah Approach of the Second Sun in this deck, I see you too are a man of culture.
Haha, the sith code is such a nice touch.
Good call on Approach of the Second Sun, and generally, calling out the need to end the game quickly.
Sounds like you’ve been in a game or two where enchantress ends up too durdly, just as I have!
Broken Fall is a great card in enchantress decks. 3 mana regenerate that you can bounce back to your hand as often as you want
Another of those enchantments that bounces back to hand is conviction! It’s one more mana but that effect is so powerful that it’s worth it imo
Just looked and I have like 3 copies of this just lying around. Great suggestion!
great budget option !
I'm personally a fan of dipping a little deeper in the Lifegain theme with Nyx-Fleece Ram, Answered Prayers, and Angelic Accord. All three are additional enchantments, so you're not hurting too much in terms of that synergy, and they also tend to help the token subtheme of the deck snowball harder. Shoutouts to Court of Grace, Anointed Procession, and Divine Visitation as well.
Came for a selesnya recommendation, stayed for the star wars puns! ironic that it’s the opposite colors that got the sith label (most expect rakdos)!😂
I was literally thinking about building Sythis recently, but with a different spin: enchantment creatures. That said, this gives me a lot to think on as I’m building a basic shell for it
Dang, this is good stuff! Great video! Ah, "order 66" really made me laugh. 😁
Joey you goddamn nerd!! This was super fun to watch, great work!
Quick note: I was on tcgplayer earlier, and while aura shards is around 10 bucks each, the list version is hovering around $4, so grab them quick while they’re still at that price range if you’re interested
My man, lookin out
I went heavy towards tokens for mine so I include the Siona / Shielded by Faith combo
Love the starwars puns, also Joey is a cutie
I am so happy I bought Serra Sanctum and Replenish YEARS ago!
*Dark Sythis is made*
Dark Sythis: Brew-it
Broken Fall might be a little mana instense, but I use it in pauper for decent protection because it is recastable. I really like Joey's budget suggestions the most out of this deck.
My sythis deck runs a bunch of board wipes and ways to make my enchantments indestructible. Add in mana ramp that is so much cheaper now that enchantment ramp is so much more affordable now and stuff like urzas saga, ethereal armor and control stuff and you’ve got a hell of a deck. I wouldn’t say it’s a cedh deck, but it’s so much more interesting than just all enchantments and blindly drawing cards
what cards do you use to make enchantments indestructible?
I do agree with the Mana dork cuts, but you can might keep arbor elf, because untapping a land that nets you more than one mana is decent even late game. On the note of lands, I think Yavimya, Cradle of growth can go. You really don't need to turn ALL lands into forest (might help others by fixing their mana), especially when most of yours is going to be enchanted to give you multiple colors.
If you do go the life gain route, I would recommend armadillo cloak and unflinching courage for lifelink (and trample is nice, but that's more for if you are going big and this list seems to go wide). You might even go for the lifelink enchantment (one white mana!) and rancor wouldn't be out of place either (just in case some else has pillow forted you or can generate chump blockers).
SInce you have 18 (more than a third!) of the enchantments as auras (the ones that enchant lands count), running Aura gnarlid might be useful if you need another go big creature.
Marshall's anthem is a neat card to throw in as well. This card should see WAY more play. It's an enchantment, gives +1/+1 to your creatures, and you can recover if someone does boardwipe?!
arbor elf is an all star keep for sure.
Love this
I enjoyed the Star Wars references!
A surprise to be sure but a welcome one
I build a uril deck a while ago and actually went pretty 'wide' with it. No pillow-fort shenanigans, but i do use sigil of the empty throne , archon of sun's grace, ajani's chosen and those kind of cards. so that even without Uril, it can still hold its own.
On the other hand, I kind of feel like buying the commander 2018 deck someday and go even wider.
The Dark Brotherhood's patron saint is.... prettier than I imagined?
Starfield Mystic was a maybe for me, but the additional lifegain on Herald of the Pantheon is very useful, especially with some of the upgrades you suggested adding to the deck.
If you want to really go all in on enchantments, Planar Collapse is a boardwipe on a two-mana enchantment. The downside is it only triggers on upkeep and will always kill Sythis, but the four or more creatures on the battlefield is an easy condition to meet, and a two-mana conditional board wipe that might draw a card or more is still great. Vernal Equinox would also be good in an all enchantments deck like that to be able to play at instant speed, and the two cards work well together.
I use it in my Shrines deck. It hilarious as everybody has a turn to absolutely panic before it goes off.
I'm surprised no shout-out to aura based aggro or control strategies here, but I appreciate the budget version added to the end. Helps give some insight into why "all expensive cards" don't always mean better cards.
I took apart my blue green white enchantment deck and put her at the helm.. wow she is so powerful.. I enjoy playing her so much. At first I felt she would be boring but she let's you allow your deck in such a powerful way. She's great! 5 out of 5 stars.
I've been subscribed for a while now but due to life events, etc, had a hiatus on MTG and only just now watched your content and can't believe I have missed your videos.. I like this style of deck up (or down..?) grading :))
P.S. - I can't believe you don't have Roon yet? You have most of the relevant commanders I run :p (except Varina as well)
Approach of the Second Sun is by far the best wincon in my Tuvasa Deck. Also thanks for suggesting these bounce auras, I think I might try that out. Not a big fan of the token generating creatures though, but maybe that's just me: Tokens are for sacrificing :)
Spoken like a true aristocrat. I dont like stompy tokens much either. I can definitely see this deck follow a very grindy control strategy by tutoring up Ghostly Prison effects and using card draw and lifegain to hold out until a control finisher like Second Sun!
been playing this deck heaps... cut the creatures that make token for sure... but the 4/4 angles making enchantment is worth it. The bounce auras are soooooo good.
I'm 2 minutes in. The amount of Star Wars references is off the charts. I love it. Please keep being the awesome person that you are.
While I would never take apart my beloved Derevi Enchantress deck, I might scuttle Tuvasa and build this one instead. I got started on the enchantress train with Karametra back in the day, so it's just good symmetry to get back to those Selesnya roots.
I really like Arbor Elf in this deck. With enchnatment mana like WIld Growth and Utopia Sprawl it adds more than one mana. And if you control a Yavimaya it lets you untap your serra's sanctum. It is the one 1cmc dork that I run.
I had never seen Font of Fertility before. I'll have to pick up a copy.
Sacred Mesa is my win condition of choice. Most games I pillow fort up. Produce 60ish mana with Sanctum Weaver/Serra Sanctum +Yavivmaya+Arbor Elf. And then dump a ton of Pegasi into play EOT. And with Mirari's Wake they are 2/2's and a real threat.
I recently built a Sythis deck, but I chose to basically tall rather than wide. Things like Yavimaya Enchantress and Setessan Champion get really big, really fast with a bunch of enchantments and auras, so I run stuff like Armadillo Cloak, Colossification, and the mentioned Ancestral Mask (and other cards like it) to just steamroll with one or two massive creatures.
This deck also needs serious anti "no more cards in library" tech. I got to the point where a Replenish would return so many enchantments it I would end up decking myself with all the card draw, and so I lost because I didn't have a board state. Lose/lose situation lol. I would recommend cards like Archangel's Light in this deck, so you can basically 'restart' after a serious board wipe.
I run Auratog + Rancor as another semi-combo. Hidden Guerrillas is also a decent add. Alot of times it's out turn 1 and one of my opponents plays a Sol Ring and all of a sudden I have a 5/3 w/trample attacking on turn 2 (Or a 7/3 trample if I play the above-mentioned Rancor)
Love the Star Wars jokes in this video.
Another amazing token maker I don't see anyone including is Monastery Mentor. Those tokens get absolutely bonkers and are probably better overall than the Cats or Pegasus tokens,
Great quality as always! May I suggest Xyris next?
Xyris is dumb. Mine is tricked out heavily and ends up storming off. It got powered down a few points with the recent Hullbreacher banning.
loved the star wars puns
It wouldn't hurt to explore the lifegain aspect of the commander as well. I have a $45.00 budget version that puts Nykthos Paragon, Ajani's Pridemate, Lathiel, and Conclave Mentor among others to good use.
Thanks to this video my deck is called The Senate
Arbor elf was a hard cut in my Sythis deck. With so much ramp focused around land enchantments, arbor elf could ramp me a lot
Just for my own two cents on the Stony Silence pick. This has been probably the highest performing card in my Sythis deck - which is very, very optimised. It absolutely CRUSHES so many decks, and slows them down so much whilst you enchantment ramp out of control. If you're on the fence, the card is cheap as hell. Buy it, try it and see if you like it
I agree. I find mono-blue decks to be the hardest to stop with stax and stony silence does it so well. Most of those that I've faced rely heavily on mana rocks and other artifacts to ramp but stony silence just says "nope" and turns everything off.
After the review episode discussion on this commander I was interested in what you would do with it
Dont tell Dana this was made
Love Earthcraft in my Deck
Exoskeletan armor can be superpowered for 2 mana depending on your meta
I think Arbor elf should've stayed in the list. It's ability to untap a single forest that we've been throwing a bunch of our enchantment ramp on means it's producing a lot more than 1 mana.
yea i cut sol ring and keep this all day... but I am also running the OUPHE ;)
You could've included cathar's crusade. The token makers and the starfield could really make that card shine
wow incredible work how it turned out in the end it looks very funny, could you help me with my gyrus waker of corpses deck it looks fun but I don't know how I could put it together
33 lands is a lot, one of my decks runs 24 lands and it won 6 commander games in a row. Have a GAVI deck on 30 lands... she is a good solid edh deck. As she wins sometines.
It can't flicker, but Mana Bloom is a nice cheap option. One or two mana enchantment every turn (X=0 or 1 respectively).
Cryptolith rite? Turn your enchantresses in to mana dorks (cause you shouldn't attack with them).
Mazirek next! Please! 🙏
The maz joke got me good
Just heard Dana's absolute cold take on Sythis during the MH2 set review. She's a beast. Never disagreed so strongly.
The point of Karametra is to sneak extra lands onto the table around the 1-per-turn land drop is it not? Unless I'm mistaken then Karametra is especially needed for that ramp to keep up with the extreme card draw.
Lol pulls out eternal witness when
Ewit is part of my wincon combo
When I first built enchantress years ago the first card I cut was sol ring. What are you ramping in to so fast? I'd much rather have an enchantment in hand that draws me cards. By the time you get to your win conditions you should have sufficient mana. Also if you go off too early you just become archenemy.
The shield of the overseer is amazing. I've had a hard time playing against Sythis decks. I was actually looking for tactics to beat this deck. Any suggestions to help me make my brother in law cry?
Arcmage
cast siona & shielded by faith and finish with concordant or finale of devastation
Can you all do Lonis next? Clue tokens are fun, minus aluren as it is spendy and broken.
I'm surprised that you'd cut enchantment creatures when this deck already struggles to close games but you still managed to make a deck that closes games anyways
Broken Fall is an all-star…only a quarter.
Can you do a video for anikthea, Hand of Erebos please??
Cutting Karametra from a Sythis deck feels sooo wrong flavor-wise :(
It's also just a bad idea. Card is nuts.
It's because she joined the dark side
*cackles*
If this is the second favorite, who's the first?
God I wish I bought Serra’s sanctum when it was like 60 bucks. D:
Psst, I know who you are.
Hail Sythis!
"33 lands is dangerous" .... Looks at my 29 land set up set up... 👀
i've had to cut Celestial Ancient (and Felidar Retreat) from my build because tracking all of those +1/+1 counters, especially on like 15 tokens) just turned into too much maintenance and i ended up having a horrible time in a game where i won
What about Greater Auramancy?
It gets a high-budget shoutout at 16:45. *Excellent* card! Just very very spendy right now :)
Empyrial Armor is gas here so is unquestioned athority
I'm convinced that we need a series somewhere between this one (only with expensive decks) and "Going Brokkos" (only with good commanders). Would the "expensive" option on EDHrec work for this? You could call it "Upping the Outlier." :P
Don't just keep Serra's Sanctum in. Add Earthcraft. Don't just keep Replenish in. Add Femeref Enchantress.
Earthcraft isn't much better than Cryptolith Rite and Femeref Enchantress isn't needed really as you aren't playing an aura deck... SANCTUM AND REPLENISH or FIRE though.
@@thetogtube2 Femeref Enchantress doesn't specify auras. Earthcraft is much, much, much better than Cryptolith Rite.
To be clear, the goal here would be to run cards that are reasonable inclusions, but also extravagant. Femeref Enchantress isn't amazing and might not make the cut in an optimized Sythis list, but the card is strong alongside Replenish and pricier than most other enchantresses.
Earthcraft, though? Earthcraft is just bonkers. The outlandish price tag is there too, but we'd want to run the card even if it cost $0.01, because it wins games.
The archidekt link isn't working anymore.
What happened there? :/
Heliod sun crowned
Any chance of an Atraxa list sometime?
I personnaly play sithys aura because she's more fun that way
*Do not cut Arbor Elf* the mana it can generate by untapping an enchanted land is too much for a 1-drop
Yeah, I was going to say this, it is bonkers when it works, and it deece when it doesnt.
i want to trow an add: anthems
you got a ton of them at those colors, you 2/2s gona be 3/3s, 4/4s or even bigger :o
like and Elesh Norn anthem ;)
@@thetogtube2 yas, at best with helm of the host but this is another story :)
Holy hell utopia sprawl was 17 dollars 2 years ago...? Christ....
I wouldn't cut Arbor Elf tbh. It enhances all the other enchantment ramp.
Please Bosh 🦁👍🏻
I easily add Serra's Sanctum and Replenish on a worker's salary.
The answer is proxies. Etsy is your friend.
I definately agree with your sentiment, but sometimes building on a budget can be a lot of fun as well. I have 8 or so decks so far that I built under $50.00, it forces you to go outside of the standard plug and play "staples" in each color and really work to find the perfect niche card that would otherwise suck, but is amazing in the deck you build. But thats just my two cents.
