After spending half of my 30's feeding my own nostalgia (collecting my old favorite games, movies, choose your own adventure books, etc.), I have now transcended normally desperate levels of longing for childhood and have started collecting things that had nothing to do with my life but look like something I would have enjoyed as some other kid from some other country and generation... I am now the proud owner of a DVD of a 1970's Russian children's stop animation show called Cheburashka and Friends. Cheburashka is an adorable little soviet monkey thing who goes around helping other anthropomorphic Russian animals and I love him.
I used to have all the Zoobooks magazines! One thing I remember was how in the late 90s/early 2000s, they re-issued the series, but the ads implied they were all brand new. All they did was change some photos, and update some info. I still remember in the "Bats" issue, the photo of the Vampire bat that looked like it was dancing.
What I remember from Childhood are "Wildlife Facts" mail order cards. One side of the card had a photo of an animal and the other side have a bunch of facts. You would get a set of them like once a month and you kept them in a binder. They also had a "Wildlife Explorer", which were bigger versions.
The funny thing is, when you said “ I can still see and here the clip of the little girl going...” it instantly played in my mind before it popped upon your video. Also, knowing that it came from a BBC show to teach kids English now makes the woman’s line “just like they learned English” make so much more sense now.
Sometimes I can't even think of early 90's Nickelodeon or late 90s Cartoon Network without thinking of these commercials. The Glow in the Dark Better Blocks has always been engraved in my head. I remember Muzzy just looking very weird when I was a kid and I was never too sure about that one. Zoobooks were always cool. I owned a few back in the day. Better Blocks Queen Erin lol! You should look for the glow in the dark ones and try them out on stream sometime haha! The cereal commercials back in the 90s (i.e. Trix, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs etc) were always good as well as the Nacho and Dog Taco Bell commercials, Burger King Kids Club, Cheesasaurus Rex, any "Sega!" commercial and the commercial for Loopin' Louie. Obviously most of my favorites were food-related.
Precisely dear colleague internet user! An obvious part of a cap is the part that covers one’s eyes from sunlight, therefore also mildly reduces the amount of warmth one receives! If you are a “cool”, as in cold, person it is an obvious choice to flip the cap backwards! Bloody brilliant!
It's been roughly 12-14 years since I saw that Zoobooks ad, but because I no doubt saw it 20 times a day while watching Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Fox Kids, et al., seeing that felt fresh in my brain like I just saw it a minute ago. Now if only I could remember where I park my car in parking ramps so easily 😅 Thank you for the nostalgia high, Erin. You're the best!
This took me back!! I always read the zoo books at home and brought my comics to school. I didn’t think pages about monkeys would do so well socially against X Men comics and Pogs. 😂
I haven't heard a Natural Wonders reference in years! I used to work at the Disney Store in the late 90's, and would look around in there on my breaks. Thanks for a great nostalgic video.
I still look up the commercial for Tomy's Big Big loaders. That song still invokes memories of how much I used to look forward to Saturday mornings in second grade.
Nice video! Favorite commercials, hmm... I remember seeing a McDonald’s commercial for Sonic the Hedgehog happy meals and begging my mom to go to McDonald’s so I could get one. 😂
Please continue to do more of these!!!! The commercials and the wish book videos all of it! Some commercials I remember that we’re not toy commercials were the chia pet commercials and the incredible edible egg commercial where everybody was dancing to the song
1:17 That mailman! I always wondered what he was telling the boy, LOL he must be saying "Here ya go kid, these were lost in the mail, they're yours now!"
An excellent channel to check out is 80sCommercialVault here on UA-cam. I’ve been watching their stuff for years. There are hundreds of 90s comps. Great channel, Erin, and great content!!
I'm 36 and remember all 3 of these. I'm nostalgia tripping hard right now. I didn't care about Muzzy or Zoobooks, but those glow-in-the-dark blocks made me moist. I ended up being a raver in my 20s with bright colorful bracelets and such lol
I miss the 90's nostalgic wish i could go back in time and relive it i remember my teacher in elementary use to bring zoobooks to school for the class to look at or read it,muzzy i see on the commercial but i never came across of seeing it in school, and better blocks i remember i use to call it a snake chain because they snap on together in a straightline but i never knew the actual name until you mention it and i think you said block s more than ten times i think
I remember those adverts. Great video 😊 Favorite advert.. whenever Captain N aired, they had an advertisement for the newest game attached to the episode. Wish we had game ads on tv again. Miss it
OMG I wanted ZooBooks so bad when I was a kid! My parents managed to find a knockoff version that was just loose pages you had to put into a binder, but I loved it anyway! I also to this day can't hear someone speaking French without thinking of that big green bear shouting "BON JOOOOOUR" lol
YOOOO I remembered almost all of these very well, but I completely forgot about the Better Blocks commercial and instantly remembered everything. I wanted them so bad as a kid!! 🤣
I remember the Wildlife Treasury commerical with the little kid on safari. He made a box of index cards with animal pictures on them seem so fun. Since my mom was a science teacher, I was able to talk her into getting it for me. I still have it somewhere.
The blocks came in a block shaped container also. I had those as a kid and they were sweet. Eureeka's Castle also needs to be released as a collection.
I had a Better Blocks set, but only of the primary colours. I had no idea they made ones ones that glow in the dark. I lost the set years ago and had almost completely forget about them until Erin brought them up. I for one would like to see the cell phone set built!
Commercials from the past are awesome now. I remember I couldn't wait for them to be gone and continue watching whatever it was I was watching at the time. Now I see them and I fondly remember them. I used to love Commercials involving Halloween or Christmas. Cadbury egg ones were awesome as well. I always wanted a bunny that sounds like a chicken. Sadly, that dream has yet to come to fruition. Awesome job with the vid 👍
I wasn’t born until 1993 so some of these commercials were before my time. But I remember the zoo books commercial vividly. Saw it every commercial break back in the 2000’s.
You might be too young to remember, but if youve never seen it, the Nestle Alpine White "Sweet Dreams" commercial! Its freaking amazing, and the song is part of the soundtrack of my childhood.. its so awesome, Faith No More covered it!
These commercials were so hammered into my frontal lobe that I used to use the zoobooks phone number minus the 1-800 bit when I needed to give a contact number to something I didnt care about
I remember seeing the zoobooks commercial whatever we were in a family field trip at Orlando Florida showing abs on TV at Cartoon Network both me and my sister watching cartoons.
Erin, do us all a favor and make a separate video where you create that Cell Phone. I love this video and hope to see more content like this. It's just so pleasant.
I don't particularly remember this buried gem from the 1990s. But, you are so right. There is nothing more satisfying than unlocking a memory that's been dormant for years. 80s commercials are fantastic. Btw....Mike should get the congressional metal of honer for beating "Snake, Rattle And Roll" on NES.
I'm already a nostalgic person, but looking at these commercials definitely hit the nostalgic feels. I like looking at 80s stuff, though. How about some 80s stuff, Erin?
Thank you for this video. It took me way back when. I had a subscription to Zoobooks only my copies had a black/white font on the upper left corner with a single color border highlighting the animal. It predates the commercial but the pages are the same. I miss my magazines my favorite was the dinosaurs issue.
I saw these commercials and remember them as well, only I saw them back in the late 80's before they offered as much extra items (like the Elephant issue). I don't remember many other commercials other than toy commercials for like Barbie and Hook figures, that and movie trailers.
Muzzy was such a bonkers character. He was an alien that came to Earth. He ate pointers, so clocks, parkimeters, anything with pointers are his food of choice (although by the end of the movie he's eating whatever, computer cassete tapes, wires, etc). He somehow went to a modern country (it had roads, cars, computers, etc) ruled by a very feudal looking king.
I remember this I was 4 it was the first kids competition for the books and my dad bought me the whole collection of zoobooks I was so happy and I still have them :3
I think I got the better blocks as a kid. I definitely remember all the commercials though and can almost recite them word for word I saw them so much. lol
I recall Zoobooks , I actually got them! Best of the bunch was a mag called "Animal Wonders" Informed me of a cute little animal called the Star-Nosed Mole! Who unexpectedly made an appearance in a movie call City of Ember. I recall the Better blocks, looked pretty cool, never had them though. Erin, when you next stream, be sure to wear your Better Blocks Crown!
You go above and beyond just retro gaming and 80's and 90's nostalga👽🔥 erin for president!
Glad I’m not the only one who looks up old commercials on UA-cam. Just last night I was watching old Sega Genesis and McDonald’s commercials!
Nights: Into dreams and Croc 2.
I do it all the time!
Woah, this makes me comfortable, seeing someone my age, being nostalgic about these commercials; it's just, wow!
It makes me happy to know that I'm not weird for watching old school 80s and 90s commercials/Cartoons.
I was an adult when this stuff came out. My childhood was the days of "I'VE FALLEN AND I CAN'T GET UP!!!" that and "CLAP ON! CLAP OFF! THE CLAPPER!!!"

@GOD of FUCK You're welcome!
OMG!!! This is SO crazy! I remember all of these! You’re always so awesome at bringing back those old retro memories. Thanks Erin! 😋
You are so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Heck yeah! I had a bunch of those! Maybe a years worth? I guarantee they're still in my Mom's basement somewhere.
My favorite Commercial was the Mortal Kombat 2 home port commercial. I remember seeing that a week or 2 before MK 2 released on the SNES.
Nothing of this is nostalgic for me ... but I really enjoy watching you talk about it with so much excitement ...
The funny thing is, when you said “ I can still see and here the clip of the little girl going...” it instantly played in my mind before it popped upon your video. Also, knowing that it came from a BBC show to teach kids English now makes the woman’s line “just like they learned English” make so much more sense now.
Hey, Erin. My favorite commercial growing up was the Chef Boyardee commercial about a can of Chef Boyardee rolling down to a house of a little girl.
Sometimes I can't even think of early 90's Nickelodeon or late 90s Cartoon Network without thinking of these commercials. The Glow in the Dark Better Blocks has always been engraved in my head. You knew zoo books were cool cause he wears his hat backwards and only cool people do that! Instant credibility right there.
Your avatar looks like a zoo book! ZiiIng! * Rides into the sunset *

Bloody brilliant!
I know a couple of commercials back in the 90's it was the better blocks glow in the dark and the Zoobook.
I also remember seeing these commercials back in the day. I read Zoobooks, and I even got a thing of Better Blocks for Christmas.
So many memories from this growing up! I can confirm, that those commercials were on ALL THE FREAKING TIME! You nailed it! Thanks, Erin!
It's been roughly 12-14 years since I saw that Zoobooks ad, but because I no doubt saw it 20 times a day while watching Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Fox Kids, et al., seeing that felt fresh in my brain like I just saw it a minute ago. Thank you for the nostalgia high, Erin. You're the best!
I remember all of these commercials!!!
Just like you, I've always had "je suis la jeune fille" embedded into my brain.
I remember all of these and now feel a vague sense of regret and sorrow. Thanks, Erin!
That's awesome!
I still look up the commercial for Tomy's Big Big loaders. That song still invokes memories of how much I used to look forward to Saturday mornings in second grade.
I loved Zoobooks as a kid. I had a fat stack of those magazines and read the hell out of them.
Fruity Pebbles, Fruit Gushers,Crazy Gideons, Chia Pets and Cal Worthington Ford were the commercials I used to see all the time in the 90's.. 🤣
Hello, fellow SoCal person! I saw Cal Worthington and of course the 714, lol
Great video Erin. Fun to look back at old commercials. I remember them just a well as the shows!
It's amazing all this stuff i forgot about until your video. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
As a kid, I always loved reading these while anxiously waiting at my local dentist waiting room.
I remember these commercials like yesterday...thank you Erin love your channel.
You are so welcome!
The 90s was childhood too and i have seen a lot of commercials in this decade mostly for toys and video games. 😄👍😉 Nice video, Cooking Erin.
Nice video! Favorite commercials, hmm... I remember seeing a McDonald’s commercial for Sonic the Hedgehog happy meals and begging my mom to go to McDonald’s so I could get one. 😂
Please do more videos like this.
Great video, when I was in Middle School, one of my classes had a bunch of "Zoobooks". Those were some cool books back in the day.
That kid was a little too enthusiastic about that goofy magazine
Maybe it's the only thing keeping him going.
Omg! Loved Zoobooks!
@@ErinPlays XD
Ive enjoyed your videos Erin. I subbed for sure.
As a 90s kid, I LOVE this video! I remember every single one of these commercials; thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!

Got a bunch of those old Zoobooks in the basement including the Prehistoric Zoobooks set.
So That's what the weird sounding Mage from Virtual Hydlide was all about!

Holy crap I forgot all about these!!! Thanks for the throwback lol
every single time I watch Cartoon Network back in the day, it would seem like a commercial for zoobooks would air every 5 minutes or so
Oh man! Truly my 5 - 9 year old world. I always quote the language learning commercial! Lol! Great stuff 👍
YOOOO I remembered almost all of these very well, but I completely forgot about the Better Blocks commercial and instantly remembered everything. I wanted them so bad as a kid!! 🤣

"BONJOUR!" lol I remember these commercials
The blocks came in a block shaped container also. I had those as a kid and they were sweet. Eureeka's Castle also needs to be released as a collection.

I remembered the Zoobooks commercials but now they are still around with Ranger Rick. Also the Clapper commercial and Chia commercial are good.
