    I found lifting the lever back up, pulling the pressure gauge out and putting it back in, then lowering the plunger one more time will eek out that last bit of liquid that is stuck in the chamber. Gives you a totally clean puck

      So you try and extract more espresso with as much pressure as you can force productively killing a good shot

    • @classicrockonly
      @classicrockonly 2 роки тому +8

      @@arthurerby2466 No, what I do is make my shot and then I purge the rest of the water into a purge cup with the method mentioned above. Except now I found out all I have to do is have the lever all the way up for a few seconds because there's enough of a gap to let the remaining water settle

    Is there a reason to not put less liquid? That is if you are consistently flushing liquid out every time after you extract

      I really like the Flair 58. I think the espresso is as good or better than many of the machines I have owned (Astra Gourmet, LM GS3, Londinium L1). I currently have a Salvatore semi auto at my main home, and use the Flair at our weekend home. When I retire (soon), I may sell the Salvatore and use the Flair exclusively. I also love that it is low maintenance!

      @@johnrbh Thanks for your info. Have you tried pulling shots without inserting the top screen? Based on video I see it can get a little messy when trying to separate it from a hot puck...or maybe you found a way around it?

    • @johnrbh
      @johnrbh  11 місяців тому +2

      No, I always use the top screen. I have been playing around with a paper filter at the bottom of the portafilter with very nice results. You get a bit more flavor, and need to grind finer. There have been a few UA-cam vids about this.
