Awesome video. This really makes me want to dig out the two 520Hs that were my grandma's and get them running again. She made a lot of memories for me and my sister with those tractors.
It's a shame they don't make them like this any more. These late 80s early 90s were the ultimate garden tractors. My grandma has a 418a. It still runs. And my dad used to have a 312-8
The only reason they probably dont make them anymore is probably because people dont want a 4,000$ garden tractor when they can buy a 1,600$ because no one wants a garden tractor anymore
Hoping to have a small fleet of wheel horses on my farm soon. Mow grass, do some light duty work. Mowed on these as a kid in the 90s, wish I could get those days back.
I’ve owned 252-H’s, 266-H’s and now three 5xi’s but none of that series. The 5xi’s are like a Cadillac but a bit over complicated if you ask me. Toro could have sold more if they offered a 3pt hitch. I run the Toro 5xi Facebook page and I have the hood from the Toro 5xi prototype tractor in one of my videos.
For some reason Wheel Horse (and then Toro after they bought Wheel Horse) always struggled in the larger tractor market. Wheel Horse had the D series which had a 3 point hitch and PTO, also the C-195 which was a later model had a 3 point hitch and a PTO. They were all expensive tractors and they didn't sell well. I think Deere and Kubota were always a step ahead. The gray area market between a small farm tractor and a garden tractor has always been a hard place to sell a tractor. People want to work it like a farm tractor and have it not cost much more than a garden tractor. Just my 2 cents.
Have a 520-H that i mow with and a spare 520-H for parts that is really in condition to mow with. Put a Honda engine on it because the onan kept dropping valve seats and then broke a rod. Very strong mowers.
Drop the deck height adjustment lever as low as it will go, place a couple of 1-2' long 2x4's down where the wheels lineup and drive over the deck. It helps to have the deck on gravel or grass, as it may slide on concrete. Also I tend to not take the deck off unless absolutely necessary, you can jack the whole mower up to clean the deck and change/sharpen the blades. Hope this helps!
@@WildHorsesOfCourse ok so as I suspected you are supposed to drive over the deck. And when you say to place the 2x4 boards down, are you saying put them behind the deck wheels to allow the tractor to move over the deck easier? Anyway thanks for the response.
I'm not sure that you're "supposed to" per say but yes it does make it easier. Yes put the 2x4's down so the front wheels can climb over the deck without scooting the deck, hopefully.
I work at a toro dealership which was an old wheel horse dealership I have to say toros zero turns are pretty heavy duty and we rarely have problems with them but I love the old garden tractors you can’t beat them

I have a 520h. It's a darn good tractor. I have several attachments for it, and is becoming more and more a workhorse around the farm

Ain’t that the truth have a 310 and just got a hold of a 520 they were bullet proof mowers and still are they don’t make them like they used to
Thinking about buying a 520HC. Grew up in the 90s mowing with wheel horses. A lot of memories made.
Back when commercials made sense. I want one, but prefered the older design. Great video !!
love the video. toro needs to bring back the wheelhorse!!!!
Only if it was a product worthy of the name.
@@WildHorsesOfCourse do you have any videos from 1994 on the 500 series or of the 12/38 XL?
@@sheamileto598 no just the ones posted for now.

Thanks for sharing this video, this was awesome!!!!
Thanks Craig!
Thanks for the video.
One of the best lawnmowers built❤ love the dash on the 516,,518 and 520 too❤
Cool. 30 years later I can finally afford one.
How many other mowers have you bought in the past 30 years though? Many of these are still going.
You’re right. My old Sears finally quit after 47 years. Picked up a 416-8 and a 520H. I love my old tractors.
I have a '98 520lxi and a '97 416h. Both are tanks and run great. Love them.
i love ur vids im getting a 500 serise tomorrow in soooooo excited
It's a shame Toro let this great tractor die!
Their stupid corporate jerks!
That loader was sweet
This is a great find!

Great someone finally shared this ad! Love wheel horses great video!
This is great! I'm restoring a 93 520H.
I only have a 312-8 but its a great tractor
Wheel horse is such a good tractor. I love laughing with my friend and family how my 1983 out performs and is more reliable than theirs from 2017 XD
What is the name of the 90s song very catchy tune
I have a wheel horse 520-8 pretty good shape,it's a tank
Those were Rare! I had a new 520H it was a great machine. Love the -8 for Garden and plowing Snow or Dirt. Don’t make them like that anymore.
bela roba compplimenti !!!!

I prefer my 1972 wheelhorse to the 500 series
Im learning Wheel Horse now... why do you prefer the older

Where do you find these ? I’ve never seen this commercial before
How do I contact you?
Did they make videos like this for the first generation 520h?
They did I’m sure but I don’t have one
Im have a toro wheel horse 212-5SB. How im can see from what year it is?
Hmmm maybe i should head on down to my local wheel horse dealer and try one out.
Ha, Any Toro dealer can still order parts.
@@WildHorsesOfCourse I have 2 520's. Best garden tractor i have ever used.
Sweet
Is there an easier way to put on the 60 inch deck? Because I stuggle to get mine on and off.

Did they make a similar video for the 5xi series?
I'm sure they did but I don't have a copy sorry.
This is the time when John Deere took over. Too bad Toro doesn't make a garden tractor the same quality as their commercial line.
Own one of these things it’s great although the onan engine surges
rebuild carburetor and seal intake manifold 😁
why did they cancel this?
It’s insane that toro only makes zero turn mowers after having the best garden tractors. Zero turns are the worst thing for your spine

The music is just awful. It's so cheesy.
1990 wasn’t a great time for music lol
