- The original promotional video tape for the John Deere 400 series (425, 445, 455) and attachments from the early 1990s.
I had this tape over 20 years ago as a kid growing up in the late 1990s, but it was given away with the collection of other Deere tapes I had. Since then I've been trying to reacquire the collection I had and this video was at the top of my list. It's taken over 10 years of searching but I've finally found one of these tapes, and here it is. I love seeing all the footage of these machines when they were brand new, just introduced.
I have some more Deere VHS tapes that I'll be uploading and converting. Of course I'll do the same for any new tapes I happen to get as well. - Авто та транспорт
I enjoyed this promo video. I have a 455 AWS..60" deck..13 Bushnell hydraulic dump grass collection system. I bought this new in 1998 and just did my annual service yesterday. Tractor has 785 hours. She still looks like new. Was thinking how proud I was while servicing her. Just saw this on UA-cam and really enjoyed it. Thanks to poster.
Got a 425 with 1968 hours before the meter quit working several years ago. Threw a rod over 10 years ago and we rebuilt her. Thing is a tank that has been through a lot and keeps on going.
Needs more than a few things to make it look pretty but still capable of working hard when needed.
60 inch deck has me spoiled. Lol

Always a few around for sale but not in mint condition within a 50 mile radius of me. Tempted to get a 445 to keep my 425 company. Under $2500 in fair condition with under 1000 hours if you shop around.

I had all the sales material as a kid growing up in the 90s (including this video) and remember seeing them at Deere dealers with my uncle. I really want a 455 when I have my own property, but I wouldn't mind a 445 either! Thats a gorgeous 445 you have, it's been kept up very well. Thank you for watching! :)
@@JDTricycler That's pretty awesome. Yeah my Grandpa had a 318 and saw the 445 sitting on the dealer floor and HAD to own it haha. I was born in 2001 so I grew up climbing around on his 445. When he got his brand new X738 this May, he threw me the keys to the 445 which I was more than grateful for. Really enjoyed the video!

I have a 1995 455 AWS. That thing is a torque monster and indestructible. Dang thing will easily tow a ton or more, uphill, on gravel.
Got a 455 and that has to be the best lawn tractor made ever.
I have a 01 455 , love the thing! Had it 20 odd years now. Runs and Mows as good today as it did new. just turned over to 800 hours. , it will be in the shed long after I am gone!

My dad has the 445 he bought new. Been a great tractor. I have a gx345 and 318. Going to fix up the 318 to sell. Hoping to pick up the 445 then . He graduated to a Kubota b series with bucket.

These John Deere 400 series tractors are what I call “Heirloom” tractors…if you bought one of these tractors back in the 90’s, your grandchildren are driving it now!..if well maintained, they would easily last 40+ years. They are in fact the best lawn and garden tractors ever made!..better than Simplicity…better than Cub Cadet…better than Kubota!…they were a tractor that was actually perfected the first time around and all the subsequent generations of this series are based off of it!…John Deere could re-release this series and it would still beat the competition by leaps and bounds and not break a sweat!…I had a 1995 455 for 11 years that was previously owned by a municipality and run hard all its life and it worked mint!..I could literally mow my yard which was not small for an entire season on a tank of fuel!..it needed work and leaked oil everywhere, but it worked like new with over 3700hrs on it…I gave it to my Godson last year and he has restored it to brand new condition and he’s proud as a peacock!…I missed it terribly so I just went out last week and bought an x495 which is the next generation of the 455…it’s mint with the 60” deck and she works great!..love these old product promotional videos!..
I have a 99 455 love that tractor easy on fuel mows great and plow's snow really good as long as you have the tire chains.
John Deere for the win!! I love the 425 but I’d love to find a 455.

They weren't kidding, I don't think too much has changed between these 400 series and the x700 of today
It's amazing how influential the 400 series design has been, they really hit a home run with it. Most if not all the 400 series front attachments are compatible with every generation of machine up to the modern X700s (though the hitch itself has changed slightly). But even some of the rear attachments will fit on newer machines. I've seen people mount the old Hydraulic Dump MCS from the 400 series onto newer X series machines.
@@JDTricycler Yep Deere hit a lot of home-runs in the 90's. The 400 garden tractors, an also the 6000, 7000, and 8000 series tractors. Especially the 8000; there really doesn't seem to be much in the way of mechanical design updates in between them, and today's 8r. Just a lot of electronic updates.
I just got a 700 and most of the quick connect features look identical and the snowblower hook out and style of it look the same as well.

Shame they put that Kawasaki with plastic cam gears in these things that come apart at 800 hours.
Thankfully they fixed that for '98, though it shouldn't have taken them that long. The newer Kawis are fantastic tho, they've really refined them over the last few decades.
You can replace that Cam without pulling the motor or check to see if it has been replaced by pulling th rd Waterpump off, you can see the Cam

The 415 was only for the European Market IIRC. This video is for the U.S/Canadian market.
