    FYI: Cut heat only while adding malt. Turn it back on and boil for 60 mins after that. Actually, follow the link in description for DETAILED instructions on how to brew extract beer...

    Really enjoy the videos I'm hoping to buy the 10 gal starter system in May and then ad on from there. I enjoy brewing and want to do all grain but can only afford so much on disability but your system allows me to start and ad on!

    What have you done about the chlorine in the water?

    • @ClawhammerSupply

      You can leave the water sit out overnight or add half a campden tablet before beginning the mash. Or, do nothing. It's an extract beer, not an all-gran GABF submission.

    If you can make mac & cheese, you can make beer :)

      No you can not and that is really offensive to all people of my profession who work their asses of day by day so everybody gets some nice beer. I dont think you meant to insult the entire craft so im not mad at you.

      @delreydavid yeah of course. I guess you can call yourself a brewer if you have the two brain cells needed to mix sodastream beer syrup with water. Its not brewing though. Maybe I am a bit elitist on this topic as i learned to brew in germany and here you could not legally call this extract concoction beer. I can recognize the value of this method for absolute beginners, definitely, but theres no need to buy any specialized equipment for it. Also, saying that making beer is like making MnC is just plain stupid cause you are still missing the whole step of fermentation that can be easily messed up. I wouldnt say im hurt, just defensive. Imagine you go work on your craft for a significant part of your life and are then told anyone with a set of tools can do it just as good. Its wrong and its disrespectful. Im just trying to point that out, not trying to pick a fight

    This is not quite conclusive. You dont boil your hops? Also why did you mash those grains first, arent you worried about residual starch, those grains looked pretty dark, dont think they have too much diastatic strength left in them but that is speculation. I think this is so oversimplified its wrong. And i have seen that you guys can brew beer.

      They have more info on products and recipe together with full video explaining the process in the description! I think this is a teaser/short to get people interested on the topic.

      @@rumputtaja yeah i see that but its still massively flawed even for extract concocting, i dont wanna call it brewing

    • @ClawhammerSupply
      @ClawhammerSupply  2 роки тому +3

      Yes, this is speculation. It's literally an extact kit from a homebrew shop. The grains were malted, and crushed, and 30 mins is plenty of time to mash modified grains. Yes, the hops get boiled for 60 mins, as stated in written instructions. Not oversimplified. Not wrong. But also, not what I would recommend anyone follow to actually complete a brew day... Which is why we link to the written instructions, as we do for every video, in the description.
