If you're going to make beer right away you don't actually have to dry the rice once it's terminated and actually has more of the starch converted to Sugar power when it's fresh

I think your English is just fine. Everyone seems to know what you are saying and that’s the whole point of language. I love to hear you talk. I love your accent. My grandparents had the same accent. I’m just sorry they never taught me the language. Abruzzo and Calabria. So your English is a lot better than my Italian.

Hello. Thank you for all the excellent videos.
I am making malted wheat and malted barley for my bread. It is going to be amazing!
Here is my problem. The grains are not sprouting all at the same time. I have been trying to take out the sprouted grains and dry them and then try to let the other grains sprout. This is a pain in the ass!
    Do you have any solution?

The very first beer I made I used some whole kernel sweet corn some rice some oats some flour that have malted barley flour in it so that was my Malt and I added some sugar as well it's finished a little bit cloudy I probably could have cleared it up a bit more knowing what I know now but it was great and it was a very mellow and clean and very strong

It's very possible that the rice could have germinated while the stuff was fermenting and added to the malting process I'm not sure I'm definitely going to use this trick you showed me

This is a good method to make rice color more appealing. But technically you have not malted the rice because the wheat diastase enzyme which converts starch to sugar is not present in rice.. :)

It depends on at what stage you want to preserve the grain product. At any stage you can place them into sterile canning jars, boil them and set them on the shelf. OR, you can place them into vacuum sealed bags.

I meant that after the process of malted rice...

I almost cried when I watched you dump down the drain (the overnight soaking water) some most nutritional liquid-big girls don't cry-a little investigation and you will almost cry too, knowing zero drain deserves such precious liquid. You are very valuable in spreading wonderful life knowledge- thank you.

I have a question that has been confusing me for an awful long time: I've heard many times that starch in grains turns to sugar between 65 en 75˚C, so why do you have to malt your grains first if it will turn to sugar anyway?

With the germination the starch is transformed in sugar
Between 65 and 75*C the enzyme converts in different sugar that the yeast transform in alcohol

@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato so during malting the starch in converted into sugar and then during the cooking it is turned into something the yeast can convert to alcohol?

    • @pogdog1

@@fgconnolly4170 malting wakes up the enzyme which later will turn starch to sugar. The enzymes are called alpha, and beta amalayse, which do their job best at those temperatures
