I think you nailed it at the end, probably not going to see an improvement for you seeing you already smoke the best driver on the market right now. What would be interesting is giving it to a high handicapper and putting it up against whatever he has in his bag and see if he gets a gain 🤔
I picked this driver up after a car accident effected my game, without draw bias. I needed more forgiveness with the larger head to keep it in the fairway, couldn't hit the middle of the face to save my life - this helped. After several months of physical therapy my swing returned and I abandoned this for the Mizuno JPX900 (smaller 440cc head oddly enough). This is a great example of equipment assisting a poor swing with added forgiveness. Like you said at the end of the video, its for the average golfer that wants to have fun rather than a pro who can swing well consistently already. As in my case, the injured may benefit also.
I have that same clubhead but with a 47 inch long Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue shaft and CP2 mid size wrap grip. I built it strictly for fun for me and my buddies to hit on the driving range. I have yet to take it out and try it on the course. I Have a group of friends that play for fun and are not that strict with the rules. It actually helps us keep pace of play. Great video. For the price it held up pretty well.
It's not cheating if you are only out there to have fun. It's only cheating if you are agreeing to play by USGA rules in competition. Personal competition can be whatever rules you want/agree to
I have one with an AccuFlex shaft finished to 47.75 inches. The grip is Boccieri, 92-gram back-weighted. I use this driver with 20 compression Wilson Staff Duo balls because the COR is non-conforming as well. With this club I drive the ball between 270-290. I'm 70 years old. My golfing buddies are way behind me and dumbfounded. The good news is they never ask to examine my driver. In our weekly twilight league and other sanctioned club events, I use a conforming Boccieri Heavy Driver head (460cc) with an AccuFlex Assassin shaft (48 inches) and a Boccieri back-weighted grip. Honestly, I hit the ball nearly as far with comparable control. The Boccieri driver head is unbelievable. Too bad that Steven Boccieri is out of business.
I actually have one of these James. Used it once, made little difference so threw it in the garage and it’s still there. Good to see Hireko/Nordica on your radar though, my £32 wedges are awesome.
I have a M5 and I wouldn't trade it for any other driver on the market, legal or illegal. I'm a 82-90 golfer so I'm not great but I hit my M5 straight and on average 250. My home course has 11 doglegs so you need to hit it straight to get in position to reach the green in regulation. I agree with some of the other comments to review the driver heads that are commonly used on the Long Drive tour.
James i loved that club when I started golfing. It was a great confidence booster and I did hit it long. I am now a 10 handicap and use a normal driver but I loved that club.
Hey mate. Loved the review, and yes, that driver is not designed for a player of your standard. I’m a 18 handicapper, and never play comps, only social with my mates. I’ve tried the Sooo Long 650cc for a giggle and we all had a good laugh with it. It was sooo loud. I bought it to try fix my slice and gain some distance. All it did was slice further and sounded like a thunder clap every time I hit it. Turns out my grip was wrong, and after watching a few UA-cam grip lessons, fixed my slice and gained distance. Funny how the ball goes further in a straight line, running in the fairway. 🤔
My buddy has this club, I have a terrible slice and I have tried a number of different clubs including the calloway epic , the cobra speed HD, and the behemoth 520cc illegal driver and nothing has helped straighten out my drive . Then I tried this club and WOW this thing has me going straight 90% of the time and increased my distance to 250 on average. I understand it won't help everyone because my buddy can't hit it straight with this club . But if you have a chronic slice its worth $90 to give it a shot . I was amazed!
You are right: the Juggernaut is NOT made for a golfer of your skill level and strength. Note the backspin rate. It is designed for the low club-head speed golfer who has trouble finding the center of the club-face. Period. As for the 'morality' of playing a non-conforming club? The mealy-mouthed purists/moralists need to just BITE me! As long as one does not keep or publish a score, he's NOT cheating - even himself!
As a fitter who has sold hundreds of these Juggernaut drivers, I can tell you that your assumption about it being designed for slower swingers or less skilled golfers is completely wrong. It is actually a very low-launching, low-spinning head, in fact it's one of the lowest spinning heads I have ever hit. The reason for the higher launch and spin rate in this video is that he's using an Acer Velocity shaft which has a very soft tip and plays almost a full flex softer than the listed flex (stiff CPM is only 245 which is 10-15 lower than most stiff shafts). Also, this driver is a 10.5 where I imagine the M5 is probably set at 9.5 for his swing speed, and it's still only launching 0.7° higher and spinning 300rpm more. The fact that it performed that close to the M5, which is a $500 driver which likely has a $100-$200 shaft in it, while using a crappy $15 shaft that is poorly fitted to his swing says a lot. He needs to swap it out with a properly fitted shaft (ideally the same shaft in his M5) and try it again, I guarantee the results will be a LOT different!
It's also worth noting that he's hitting the "draw" version with offset rather than the standard version with no offset. And his M5 doesn't have any offset, so he should have done a comparison with the non-offset model.
I think you need to have Mark test this....you’re a stud golfer, probably would make a difference with a mid to high handicap player. Finding the fairway, if it’s really straighter, would be a huge pick up over someone who spins it right/left.
Hi James, great video. I bought one of those Krank drivers which had similar advertisers claims. It was sold as only for “recreational use”. I have played with it a couple of times and tried it out at my local range. Despite the claims, it is certainly no longer than my current Callaway Rogue Driver. Maybe these things will get out there if club head and ball speeds are around that of the long drive fraternity! Good fun, but didn’t do what it said on the tin.
Before the limitations on head size and COR, I had a 505cc driver made for me by an online club builder that used "component" heads (non big-name brand/knockoffs). Longer into the woods. Longer into the lake. If you're not playing for handicap, or competing in any way, use whatever you like.
@@JamesRobinsonGolf 12 years old and interested to a degree in golf, my first "club" was a hand-held weed-whacker, and the first ball, a tennis ball that I ended up "shaving" all the fuzz off of after my first "round." The hole was one that I dug in the dirt driveway.
Ok guys, I ordered a 2017 M1 head and I was hoping to put it on my old shaft that came with my RBZ driver. It doesn't fit.... so now I'm just looking for a good used shaft online. Considering I've never been to a golf shop to test what specific shaft I need, what do you suggest? I know I need x stiff flex but beyond that, I don't know. I hit the ball low and depending on the day it might draw or fade. I know there's more to it than that but just looking for something close to standard that's decent.
Last week I played with a guy that has a Juggernaut. He even added a 3’ extension. He’s a 15-20 handicapper and he bought it because the other 3 guys in his group were always hitting it 10-15 yards past him. I hit it a couple of times, and was able to get another 15 yards out of it. On a par 4 I hit my Maverick driver 260 and the Juggernaught ~275. I did swing slowly because 1) the damn thing is 52” long, and 2) it had a senior shaft in it. Hit it twice more and blocked one drive average length and on the 3rd I hit a looong drive, but a bit right, all three hits were in play. To me it is a novelty. I’m a bit of a purist, but part of me wants to get one to see if I can consistently hit it long and straight.
Karma grips are actually a normal grip brand just a little cheaper than winn. My friends dad only plays them. Says they're soft on top like a winn but firm underneath. At least on the dritec style and not the tour velvet style they have.
I think you mean Dreadnought which was a form of war ship from England in the early 1900's. But we digress and getting back to the driver, and older friend of mine in his mid 70's uses something like that illegal which keeps him in the fairway more often and somewhat farther than a regular driver, he plays for pleasure and to keep active at his age. I think that there is a place for most clubs of all kinds, here and or there.
Try using the same type shaft in each club head. The shaft in the TM is most likely a high tech, expensive shaft. The shaft in the Juggernaut is a very inexpensive shaft. It would be interesting to see if it makes a difference.
Certainly cheaper then the newest drivers but picking up a clearance or used newer driver might be a better option for most. Personally I would not use that non-conforming driver. I do however use my Cleveland wedges with “ZIP” grooves. I am not sure they are legal anymore.
Any planned Wilson testing James ? D7 driver and Cortex are supposed to be very comparable to the big 4 brands. Also the new blades are gorgeous and the irons are great to. Would love your feedback on them. Also Benross,MacGregor,Lynx etc .

You know with armatures does it really matter if we conform with pga regulations it’s not like we are going to play in competition every week armatures are lucky to play 3 times a month now i don’t think it should matter if we don’t use the same things the pros use that’s just my opinion
I can't wait to see how Mark does with it! It might be directed to mid to high handicappers though. I hope Mark sees a difference or else thats 169.00 down the drain lol
Whats the difference between an amateur using this compared to a metal bat in baseball? When you go out and play in the office baseball game do you adhere to MLB rules?
I have a used m1 and I painted it because the weights keep sliding around and it’s scratched really badly. I wonder if it’s illegal because I sanded it and painted it lol
James, much as I'm sceptical about many of these "specialty clubs"? Was this a true comparison? As someone else has said, is it the same loft as your Taylor Made? Also, what difference will the shaft length make?
@@JamesRobinsonGolf Except for the fact that the shafts are about as different as can be - one is a cheap $15 high-launch/high-spin budget combo-flex shaft, and the other is what looks like a $250 low-launch/low-spin HZRDUS Smoke shaft. How can it possibly be a "true" comparison when the shafts are massively different?
This is the "draw" model which intentionally has a lot of offset to help people who struggle with a slice. He mentioned that his natural ball flight is a draw, so I'm confused why he would have purchased the offset model rather than the standard one which has no offset.
I was trying to swing them exactly the same, otherwise the whole video would be redundant I would have wasted 6 hours of my life lol. Swing speed will be down due to the mass of the head
@@JamesRobinsonGolf The head being 515cc doesn't mean it has more mass, just means it has more volume. But the actual mass (weight) of the head is 200g which is exactly what most drivers are (heads tend to range from 195-205).
If you want a good illegal driver do what I do get some shaft glue and glue wheel weights on the bottom rear of the driver as weight low and at the back helps with MOI. It looks much better than lead tape and you can paint the weights the same colour as your driver.
So you compared a driver with a low-end $13 high-launch/high-spin shaft (Acer Velocity), to one with what looks like a hihg-end $250 low-launch/low-spin HAZRDUS Smoke shaft? Try putting the same shaft in both heads and try compare them again. I put one of these up against a Krank Formula X, with the same shaft and same loft in both, and the Juggernaut was a good 30 yards longer with better ball speed, launch, and spin numbers.
There fore I picked up a driver from my boss, it was dirt cheap with bag thrown in. Its the Calaway FT-i is it legal? Everyone I golf with says it's not, so I just play around with it on the range. Any insight on it I've searched on the internet but not asking the right question I guess. Thanks
No. I have a GBB Epic, and a 2014 Big Bertha for a backup. I use the Fubuki shaft from the 2014 BB in the Epic because there is something about the way the two work together as opposed to the stock shaft the GBB Epic came with. I also have an extra Fubuki I bought from Callaway just in case the unthinkable happens. Both are excellent drivers. The 2014 is in 9/10 condition and so could go back in the bag if needed and the club is very forgiving. I don't see where I'd use an illegal driver. I'm a mid-high handicap player. Git gud.
I'd be curious to see how the Juggernaught performed when hit by your mid-handicap tester. A guy with a good swing (or pro swing) is going to be helped far less with a shorter club with bigger head. Bring Mark in for the job!
I wouldnt play it, because id feel wrong using it. I dont play in competitions but i do have a handicap. Interesting about the offset though, now that could be a game changer for me as i tend to have a problem with an open face at impact.
I really hate it when people say non conforming clubs are cheating. The rules of golf regarding golf clubs apply to USGA and R&A sanctioned events. How many golfers across the world are playing in those events? Since 95% of golfers in the world are recreational and not playing in sanctioned events wouldn’t you want to maximize your enjoyment? Doesn’t it make sense for manufacturers to make clubs for 95% of their customers? The stuffed shirts at the USGA and R&A need to stop calling this “cheating” and embrace non conforming equipment in order to grow the game. The game is hard enough as it is and the commitment required to improve does not mesh with the youth of the world today who have become accustomed to instant gratification. The more people we can bring to the game the better chance we have of growing and preserving this great game. If we have to do it with non conforming equipment so be it. If the people who start playing show a special ability and affinity for the game and want to compete then by all means they can use conforming equipment. Even though this off brand driver did not live up to its claims could you imagine if the big manufacturers with their teams of engineers got behind non conforming clubs?! The Sky is the limit. Nice review
juggernaut : is basically an unstoppable force or object of any kind. i'm certain you've completely missed the point. the average weekend warrior doesn't hit a 270 drive, doesn't have the tm m-5, and he doesn't have his own indoor range. in fact - everyone here knows that playing under 90 is not the norm for the masses at your average golf course. if you want to see a REAL result - give the club to some average guy who drives the ball about 200 yards with an 18 handicap and see if it improves his distance and accuracy.
I play with guys that hit 3 balls OB off the tee, then 2-putt and mark down par. "Cheating" seems to be subjective. Its your scorecard, do what you want.
I have this club with a better quality shaft. its longer than normal . there is also a non offset model . it will add 10-15 yards to a mid-high handicapper.
Juggernaut: noun (often lowercase) any large, overpowering, destructive force or object, as war, a giant battleship, or a powerful football team. (often lowercase) anything requiring blind devotion or cruel sacrifice. Also called Jagannath. an idol of Krishna, at Puri in Odisha, India, annually drawn on an enormous cart under whose wheels devotees are said to have thrown themselves to be crushed.
The question the average golfer may end up asking themselves is....at £170 are those extra 6-7 yards worth the increased cost up to the £500 M5. I know I'd have a difficult time justifying that.
*if the 515cc had weights to put forward I would have done the same... but it doesn’t and that’s how I’m gaming the m5 atm. Why not use the technology it offers?
You asked if I'd use one of these. My answer is no. I'm not a long hitter at all, I use the shot scope system and my average is 245, I've had a 280 or two, but that's downhill with a tailwind. I regularly play with 2 handicapper who is 60+ and he's 10-20 yards past me every drive (I'm 39) but a 13 capper. The thing is that I've never seen a video that showed these drivers are actually better. Even if I did I keep a handicap and want to start competing just for the fun of it. Two compelling reasons never to put one in play. I did buy an old persimmon driver off eBay for $9 though. That's fun to put into play every once and a while.
I think you nailed it at the end, probably not going to see an improvement for you seeing you already smoke the best driver on the market right now. What would be interesting is giving it to a high handicapper and putting it up against whatever he has in his bag and see if he gets a gain 🤔

This is the "draw" model which intentionally has a lot of offset to help people who struggle with a slice. He mentioned that his natural ball flight is a draw, so I'm confused why he would have purchased the offset model rather than the standard one which has no offset.
I still gave my 500cc biggest big bertha. I bought it only for it to be made illegal 3 months later grrrrrr
Juggernaut, it's a truck 😁
Juggernaut is a Marvel comic book character
Looking forward to seeing it in the hands of a mid handicap golfer
i don't understand, how do you only get like 3 yards of roll on all your drives?
I agree, please clarify?
It’s always been the same. I generally just work on carry numbers as no launch monitor can truly predict roll
Juggernaut should be called illegally short.
To tell you the truth James it looked like you were swing the M5, harder than you were the Juggernaut.
You are correct, the average was 1 mph more for clubhead speed
I was trying to swing them exactly the same, otherwise the whole video would be redundant I would have wasted 6 hours of my life lol. Swing speed will be down due to the mass of the head
@@JamesRobinsonGolf you did a very good job, 1 mph isn't going to make that big of difference. Keep making high quality content :)
@@JamesRobinsonGolf The head being 515cc doesn't mean it has more mass, just means it has more volume. But the actual mass (weight) of the head is 200g which is exactly what most drivers are (heads tend to range from 195-205).
I suspect this club is designed for slower swing speeds and shorter hitters. I would think you’d tend to balloon the ball with this club.
What about one of those KRANK drivers, I think those are still around on WLD.
6:57 mark...insert "That's what she said" joke
Always
If you want a good illegal driver do what I do get some shaft glue and glue wheel weights on the bottom rear of the driver as weight low and at the back helps with MOI. It looks much better than lead tape and you can paint the weights the same colour as your driver.
Love my karma grips. They’re knockoffs pride grips but they feel great for half the price.
Even though I don't think I will ever get into a competition I still want to use a legal club.
There fore I picked up a driver from my boss, it was dirt cheap with bag thrown in.
Its the Calaway FT-i is it legal?
Everyone I golf with says it's not, so I just play around with it on the range.
Any insight on it I've searched on the internet but not asking the right question I guess.
Thanks
Wonder how long a good club manufacturer could make a golf ball go and what materials they would use
Taylormade MOAD
No i would not use it, im waiting for the 1000cc head lol.
I have a 520cc driver called "Green Monster", the ball flies off that thing.
Git gud.
Its not about the driver or the club itself..Its depending on how you do the correct and right swing to release the club :)
If you get sponsored buy them they "might" send you a club with the flex actually Painted on the shaft... 😀😀
mpc77769 the $10 velocity shafts are dual flex based on trimming. The flex won’t be printed on them.
I'd be curious to see how the Juggernaught performed when hit by your mid-handicap tester. A guy with a good swing (or pro swing) is going to be helped far less with a shorter club with bigger head. Bring Mark in for the job!
Did I see that 2nd to last m5 hit right? 6,000 spin with the weights forward!?!
My name is George ok what is the website for this driver golf club
Good review on an illegal driver,I couldn’t see myself using though to be honest
Now you need to hand it over to Mark to demo
I have this driver and its quite good. for me its longer with less effort. very good club for seinors looking to get some lost yards back.
Nice review
Exactly
juggernaut : is basically an unstoppable force or object of any kind.
i'm certain you've completely missed the point.
the average weekend warrior doesn't hit a 270 drive, doesn't have the tm m-5, and he doesn't have his own indoor range.
in fact - everyone here knows that playing under 90 is not the norm for the masses at your average golf course.
if you want to see a REAL result - give the club to some average guy who drives the ball about 200 yards with an 18 handicap and see if it improves his distance and accuracy.
Also, isn't the legal COR .0830?
Just goes to show you cannot believe everything companies sell.
Hi James. Nice video. It's not cheating. 😂😎🤗⛳
The biggest take away is you got almost identical performance out of a 160$ driver vs a 500$ one. Big brands charge you for the name nothing more.
I’m still laughing. You really didn’t hit it further than your normal driver.
I'll only take it out on the 13th hole .... "longest drive" competition..
Is there a rule about how long the shaft of driver can be?
Yes , 48 inches max on golf shaft ,for proper golf and long drive .
There are enough decent drivers out there to fit everyone these days ,I dont think there is much use or need for it.
If it helps you hit the middle of the club face more, then it obviously will help.
Juggernaut is another term for an articulated or huge truck!
thanks James but whats the point of it ?
Fun Mark :)
That looks obnoxiously huge and ridiculous. I would love to give that a hit ahahaha
It did look like you were swinging the M-5 harder.
Juggernaut: noun
(often lowercase) any large, overpowering, destructive force or object, as war, a giant battleship, or a powerful football team.
(often lowercase) anything requiring blind devotion or cruel sacrifice.
Also called Jagannath. an idol of Krishna, at Puri in Odisha, India, annually drawn on an enormous cart under whose wheels devotees are said to have thrown themselves to be crushed.
Well i scooped on up.. I'm a mid handicapper.. Should be fun.. 119$ in the states so why not
If you dont want it send it to me
Dreadnought is the battleship term. It also is a large acoustic guitar.
Hey I’ve built a few of those 😎
You probably should have upgraded the shaft to match the M5
The question the average golfer may end up asking themselves is....at £170 are those extra 6-7 yards worth the increased cost up to the £500 M5. I know I'd have a difficult time justifying that.
*Puts the weights all the way forward in his m5 to get the most distance out of it
*if the 515cc had weights to put forward I would have done the same... but it doesn’t and that’s how I’m gaming the m5 atm. Why not use the technology it offers?
Yeah, now try it with a guy that plays a couple of times a year and trying to work out a slice with a 20 year old driver.
What's cheating today is legal tomorrow & vice versa.
Sort like the Democrats
Really never used Karma grips ? Been around forever in the US ( home of golf ha ha )
Name is George again sir is there 3 different types of krank driver heads sir
