    This popular drum groove, the "Amen Break", is arguably the most sampled and looped drum beat in the world - so naturally we figured we needed to have a drum lesson for it! Not only will you be learning a vital beat for your drumming vocabulary, but you'll also be working on your ghost notes and bass drum independence as well!

      Actually, a china symbal can be used both ways.The way he uses it has a VERY low life expectancy, but gives a bit more attack, which some people like more. If you don't care that your cymbal dies quicker, this way is not a "wrong" way... I can't spare the money to play them upsies, but I do like the sound more. Not attacking or anything, just stating my own experiences.

    The entertaining thing to me about the amen break isn't as much the break itself. But given that it was recorded, and all those hits that the original player played, you get wonderful sounds out of it. Then it comes down to breakbeats and how the person chops up the break. Really cool on a production level.

    You’re very talented, but upon listening to the origins it actually sounds as if the ride cymbal is actually divided into triplets (one two three rest) it makes the kick drum really pop on the double. It also enables you to play it more relaxed.

    • @estanbeedell6741
      @estanbeedell6741 2 роки тому +11

      This wouldn't be triplets but three 8ths with 8th note rest. However, what's happening is the compression in the original recording is bringing up the volume of the first three rides, while the 3rd is low volume because of the snare hit. Hope that helps!
