      @@MalikCarr well, I'd probably still take a Fiberglass boat smelling FB RX-7 over it for such things, but definitely a very close second. Tied with the Levin Corolla for me, just because I prefer NA. Turbo's can be a bit, idk, weird, for me. But yeah arguably a really good car for such things too. Though the AE86 beats it in practicality, just barely. I just wish it was available for Assetto Corsa, cause there's no way I can ever afford one in real life. And even if I could afford it I can't register it in my country... Fucking emissions regulations coupled with strict modification laws basically kill any chance of adapting older cars to newer regulations here.

      @@rushmatic Yep. And no, it was built before the Z31 existed. There is a good chance Nissan took inspiration from it, because some members of the Mid Night Club were tuners and CEO's. It's also not running a VG like everyone thinks, it's running it's factory L28, but it's been stroked and bored so far that nobody is sure how much displacement it's got. It also runs an insanely low amount of boost (under 3PSI) which is most likely how it hasn't blown up. And that car broke 200MPH.

    Since I haven't seen this comment posted anywhere else (although that doesn't mean anything): It's not actually "Z," despite the fact that even Nissan in America calls it that. That character on the front of the car is "Otsu" (乙), the first character in the word "Otome" (乙女) which means, perhaps unsurprisingly, maiden. So there's your Fairlady.

    The trick that made the Z31 work in Japan was when they eventually dropped the RB20DET in it, in the Fairlady 200ZR. Rare but amazing.

    Good to finally hear a reference to the Sports 2000 roadster from Mr Regular. Mighta dropped one in the 240z video in reference to being part of the Fairlady lineage, but can't remember it off the top of my head. I would say he should review one, but it'd likely be pretty similar to the Triumph or MG he reviewed awhile back.

    • @markmiller3279
      @markmiller3279 2 роки тому

      Maybe a little better, but basically pretty similar, yes. We had so many simple roadsters back in the 60s and 70s (even later in a few cases). Fiat, Alfa, Lotus, Sunbeam, even Karmann Ghia, in addition to MG, Triumph. No doubt missing a few more, too, as they were all over the place. Of the. Japanese offerings, only the Datsuns were common.

    • @realpillboxer
      @realpillboxer Рік тому

      @@markmiller3279 I'll dispute a few of your points. Datsun only made 40k Datsun Sports roadsters *ever* while 40k 240z's were pumped out *every year* for at least five years. And in the current market, the 240z's are being touted as "rare". If that's the case, 1600s and 2000s are unicorns. Of course, we must realize that rarity only matters when they're desirable and we already know the reasons why the 240 Fairlady models are more desirable than their precursor Sport Fairlady models.
      Of the makes you mention, I've seen several MGs, Triumphs, and even Karmann Ghia's but only one other Datsun Sports here in Metro Detroit and Northern Virginia. But you are right -- when compared to Toyota's 800 and Honda's S600, the Roadster is "common".
