Why did they de-electrify the lines, thereby shutting down Metro service....because kids were climbing up on the train roofs. Put a little investigative meat into this story KPIX...this neighborhood endures this every year, and each year, things get more and more out of control.

This is unacceptable. The City now needs to BAN this event from now on. Neighbors should not have to be fearful. Identify the kids involved where you can from news video and hold them and their parents responsible for all costs incurred by the City. Skateboarding is great, but not when you start disrupting neighborhoods and making others scared.

For back story, SFMTA installed big road bumpers that make it literally unsafe for anyone using a bicycle, moped, motorcycle, or skate… let’s say a victim biking down this hill on their commute (FYI I used to live up Dolores on the hill) and your coasting down the hill only to panic and slip and fall into the intersection. Instead of providing safety and reasonable regulations that prevent accidents, the City of SF targets these events to rid the city of the last of cultural legacies of the working class, artists, poor, and tradespeople who enrich the SF experience. They could make it a tourist attraction and block traffic, encouraging the use of non motorized transportation and sport.
I'm hoping the working class, artists, poor and tradespeople who are sticking around to enrich my SF experience are not experiencing any discomfort on my account. I'd much prefer that they lessen my experience than to blame anyone else for any discomfort in living in The City.
Even though the San Francisco "Park Rangers" are civilian employees and Not cops, they are being militarized with their aggressive, intimidating uniforms excessively carrying batons and unnecessary double magazine holders.The parks should be family and community oriented places and these park rangers should not have any weapons, including batons, on them at all. Just the army green color of their uniforms make them look like soldiers in wars. Adding their star shaped badges make them look like sheriff deputies and even Nazi cops. Also the park rangers vehicles appear too similar to law enforcement vehicles, especially when they turn on their white spot lights causing unaware and frighten drivers to instinctively pull over for them. Much more often nowadays, a few park rangers try to act like cops. Just yesterday, I saw one "park ranger" (the big chubby looking African American one) asking a driver only parking on the street for identification documents. It was Not even in the parks!! On many times in Golden Gate Park during the day, I saw the short, bulky Asian one trying to stop moving vehicles, literally trying to make traffic stops and trying to ask for driver's licenses. This is so dumb and what could go wrong. People are not required to talk or show them anything to these wannabe park employees. These wannabe park employees are begging for trouble. There needs to be critical changes to the San Francisco park rangers, so they do not get mistaken for law enforcement. First, amend their job title to one that more closely reflect their duties and responsibilities, such as "park service officers", "park monitors", *park ambassadors" etc. Second, drastically change their uniforms and their badges to the light blue color shirts and the shield shaped or round badges like the ones similar to the parking enforcement. Also, restrict any weapons, including batons. Third, modify their park ranger vehicles emblem/logo to look like other city vehicles with the city seal. Only allow amber color warning lights with amber color lenses to make it known that they are not law enforcement. As they monitor the police dispatch calls to try to respond, but instead interfere with the work of first responders while doing unnecessary assistance, discontinue and disallow any police scanner capabilities inside their vehicles. You can make changes before the City passes the vote for the upcoming budget. Please contact your district board of supervisors representative to express these serious concerns. Although most departments, particularly the ones dealing with social welfare will have their budget cutted, the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department is expected to have their upcoming budget increased for even more park rangers to harass innocent park patrons. You!! Would you rather have more park service employees to collect paychecks or funds to support people in need to afford basic essentials, like food and shelter?
The idea behind the Park Rangers is to have them as peace officers who are empowered to enforce park rules and write ECB tickets, parking tickets and CC summonses if necessary. And it is often necessary. People have contempt both for park rules, for other people, and for the Rangers themselves, routinely disregarding both and doing whatever assholery they want. The Rangers do need at a minimum much more training, backup, batons and pepper spray. You can observe this on a daily basis in basically any park. And these days, people also have contempt for the police, they routinely disregard, disrespect, resist arrest and brawl with them. I see this on the news on a daily basis, everywhere. The skater kids I have noticed also do whatever they want, without regard for rules or other people.. They are in desperate need of a good asswhipping. Same goes for the motorbike kids. Don't come crying to any LEO when these little punks harass you, handle it yourself. I know I will. And it is not government's function to support the people, you serve the hand that feeds. People need to be able to support themselves, pay their own food and shelter (it's called "work") and that way we can at least try and control the government. This is basic gradeschool civics and also why kids moving from CA to NY are held back a grade at least. These so called innocent park patrons leave their dog's waste, litter, speed through the park on their bikes, play their music too loud, damage park property, drink in public, barbecue next to the signs that say no fires and get angry when confronted with their scofflaw, obnoxious, nuisance behavior. The only thing that keeps them from getting punched out is that they aren't worth going to jail for. Innocent park patrons my a$$.
