- DID - dissociative identity disorder, "previously known as multiple personality disorder, is a disorder that is poorly understood and represented by the media and general public. It’s characterized by the presence of two or more dissociated self states, known as alters, that have the ability to take executive control and are associated with some degree of inter-identity amnesia. (from did-research.or...)
Jess and her alters (Jake, Jamie, Ed and Ollie) inspired me to wright this song. The song is not supposed to be an accurate portray of DID, it does not include a description of this disorder, it's just the way i see it, my thoughts on it. LYRICS
when she's hurt and feels broken they're always there
to take part of her burden on themselves.
they were born so that she could hold on and no matter what
they remain at the back of her head.
in inner world they have their own lives
but here they can only see through her eyes
they're not just their roles, each one as whole,
not pieces, they're people like me and you.
although they're so different, one not like another
protecting her is their common goal.
they've been through a lot and they love each other
and working together they'll get through it all.
in inner world they have their own lives,
but here they can only see through her eyes.
they're not just their roles, each one as whole,
not pieces, they're people like me and you.

As the host, this made me cry so hard. Every one of us love this song. The littles see it as calming; They can fall asleep to it. My protectors and friendly alters think it sounds so sweet. Even my persecutor came close to take a listen, and he is never around. This is truly a work of art.
- Amy, Host.
THANK YOU thank you for sharing, it means everything to me! and it touches me deeply knowing that the song i wrote a while ago still brings something good to those with DID. Lots of hugs to you and all your system!
"Their not just their roles, their whole.
Not pieces, their people like me and you"
Thanks!
Using keywords "songs dissociative identity disorder", this video is one of featured three listed on the first google page. It's how I found you. Thank you for sharing this with the world xo
You know that Jess saw this, right? It's in one of her playlist called mentions.
Also, I loved the song!
Max whaaaaaaat
i knew she had seen it when i posted it on tumblr and she reblogged it a while ago (also i sent it to boys in tumblr messages and they answered me) but i didn’t know it’s on her mentions! oh my goosh
thank you so much!
This is beautiful; thank you so much for writing it and for braving the camera to share it with us all. It definitely touched me, as I'm sure it has a lot of other multiples. It reminds me of something one of my others said about feeling trapped in my body. It's like he's trapped behind my eyes and I know "borrowing the body" bothers him a lot sometimes, because he wants his own life out here as well, but we're slowly finding ways to address that. I'll be replaying this for him in a bit
a year later and i am so still amazed by your songs and how you can create such beauty, the lyrics are so good and you are sooo talented
I also find DID incredibly fascinating, and have been trying to find as much info about it- both scientific/medical and personal experiences.
Found this lovely song 'cause someone had it in their playlist.
"They're not just their roles, each one as whole,
not pieces, they're people like me and you."
Think this may be my favorite part
Thank you for making such a beautiful song! It helps my little alter calm down and know the other alters are here. Music helps calm her down.
It's magnificent how music can affect the mood, especially if you're a child. I remember when my brother was little he used to have mood swings when my sister and I were playing the piano - depending on what kind of music we were playing :D sometimes he'd start crying uncontrollably when we played sad music
Thank you so much for your words! I hope your little alter is doing good. And I wish you all the very best for you!
