    Have anyone noticed that Audi has been setting quite a few stylistic trends in the auto industry since the mid-2000s? Hex grille, DRL LEDs, interior design... etc.

      yes its a shame that cheap car brands like Hyundai or Kia started copying Audi's interior and exterior design. For me Audi is one of the most innovative car companies.

      Nastasio in a way it makes me angry. Your paying a high price for a premium vehicle. Yet car brands that aren’t as prestigious are just copying off their designs.

    Just bought this used with 99k miles. Two owners and both serviced it at Audi. Paid 19k and added a 5 year 50000 miles power train warranty. Fricken love this car.

      What warranty did you get? Bought a 17 with 65k. Can’t seem to find a warranty that doesn’t have all negative reviews or seems like a flat out scam.

    This review convinced me to buy one. I confirm ride quality and engine smoothness are incredible (much low end torque and very linear engine). I often do 600miles a weekend to go camp / climb / bike. Not an issue. It also saved the life of a hobo in SF that ran right in front of me (auto braking works, real good). After one year, i'd say the main weakness is: voice control / GPS input is just total rubbish. It just doesn't work: I tell it to do a google search instead, which works very well. I hardly drive in town and do mostly highway + mountain roads and I average 26mpg...and I do not have a light foot.

    I have owned Audi's for over 20 years. For SUV I have stuck to the smaller more nimble versions like the SQ5 and Q5 TDI as well as Q5 3.0T. I am a contractor and use these as my work trucks, they hold up incredibly well when taken care of and I always buy them with near 100K miles to get the best bang for the buck. I also like to push performance on them so my sedans are always S and now RS models and the amount of extra power you can make while still being reliable is incredible. I recently bought a 2017 Q7 Prestige with every option minus the night vision. It took me a long time to find one with all the extra stuff like Luxury package, Adaptive chassis package with four wheel steering and air suspension, and B&O sound. Anyway, I would like to see if you wanted to do a review on my car of how this model is holding up with higher miles and the reality of how well this car is built. Mine has 82K miles on it and it drives and handles like I would picture one right off the lot. I also tow my work trailers with it and the 7700lb tow capacity is so good. I also added a tune and dual pulley from APR to give it a bit more power.

    I don't know if you read the comments on older videos but here goes:
    Can you do a video on the Lincoln Navigator?
    Also I really REALL enjoy your channel. I think you truly go over the ownership aspects well and you actually talk about maintenance and repair costs. Most if not all of all car review never talk about that.
    Real use cases, tech and cabin review, undercarriage review, and more. You guys really deep dive into this stuff.
    A car, especially if your buying it, is like buying a small house and you have to know what your getting into. It's not like the car makes you money, it a depreciating asset that costs money, so its a good idea to have it be thoroughly looked over before purchase. Even if it's a lease it's allot of money going out of your pocket plus you don't want a car that spends 3 months in the shop or is unreliable. Thanks to your channel anyone can have a better idea of what they want to buy.
    In the future I hope you get to have long term reviews like 6 months later or a year later. That would be great stuff.

  • @TomesEsq

    Couldn't agree more about leasing fully-loaded cars. It's always the best way to go. I lease my '16 VW GTI Autobahn and it's fully loaded (performance package, lighting package, dynamic chassis control, 6-speed manual), and I got it for $399/month, NO money down, tax included in that lease price, and the wheel/tire insurance thrown in for free. That's a really solid deal for a car that MSRPs for almost $35,000.

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 років тому +1

      yes, that is true, but no cars interior is perfect even on the S class the vents are a cheap plastic. keep in mind on higher end trims materials are improved as well this appears to be a mid level loaded interior, but still, the fit and finish and materials are still top tier. :)

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 років тому

      i will add this as well, the Porsche 911 does the same thing on the dash, with out any options on it the door panels, center stack, and upper dash are plastic. so yes even the best of the best (S class, 911, BMW M3) all have plastics and not the most amazing materials in the world.

    • @xkrnxboix

    I own this Q7 for three years. Yes, he is right. The drive is incredible. The acceleration is smooth and effortless. The Q7 is a HUGE step up from the Q5. Everything inside is so luxurious. HOWEVER, I experienced many electrical problems, such as back-up camera not showing up (it should be automatic.) It happens randomly, so Audi couldn't figure out why. Apple CarPlay sometimes doesn't connect. Just this past week, it failed to connect 50% of the time. That's kind of annoying.

    The lack of super charger sound fits this car. It is a refined and majestic way to travel whilst still retaining the capability to blow the doors off of most normal cars. In other cars I don't like that lack of noise. A friend of mine got a 2014 Jaguar XKR cabriolet and you can't hear the super charger at all. I think that's a damn shame. I get that some people find the mechanical whine horrible but I love it. His old S type-R had a VERY loud whine and it complimented the car beautifully when the unsuspected power was used.

    My experience with the active lane assist has been quite different. I have a 2018 S4 and very often it will not recognize lane markings even when they are very clear and bright. It will also sometimes pickup on a a line of tar where they sealed joints on the asphalt and think that’s a lane marking and jerk the wheel - often towards incoming traffic. It’s awful but of course the dealer “couldn’t duplicate” and just reinstalled all the software. Didn’t fix it.
    The Audi Presense, however, has saved me from a rear end collision a couple times because it recognized the car in front of me had jammed on its brakes before I did.

    Great review!! This is a nice vehicle for sure. But it is not a car to buy, rather to lease like you suggested. The maintenance of this vehicle after a certain age will be astronomical with all those sensors and Audi doesn't have the best reliability so you are better off enjoying it while new, in a lease and turn in at the end and get another one.

    Actually, warpage of rotors rarely occurs with most cars since they are not used on a track and the brakes aren't pushed to overheating even with a couple of emergency stops in testing. Uneven wear is typically the problem seen with rotors.

    I think the 2025 Q7 would make for a very interesting review. A Final update to a fairly old car. How does it compare after 8 years in production? In my experience, the final iteration of an aging car is usually the best.

    I'm in love with the MMI, Digital Instrument Cluster and Radar Cruise Control. But all the rest of the Tech is more of a pain than useful to me.

    Having driven both, would you go for a 2017 Audi Q7 premium plus or 2017 Volvo XC90 inscription? If they had similar miles and similar price, which one would you want to live with? Ps I don’t care about the 7 seats, but I do like that the XC90 does have a spare tyre.... interested in thoughts!

    Hello. Since you have also reviewed the XC90, which one out of the 2 do you recommend? I know both of them are extremely good, but which one did you enjoy more? Also which one do you think it is more economical?

    Just rented a 2019 Q7 from Silvercar. I like it a lot. You're right though... I would definitely lease over buying. I do not want to be on the line for fixing any of the safety/tech/gadgets. Of the German car manufacturers, I think Audi has the best interior. BMW is too basic and I refused to test drive a BMW after getting in and seeing how stupid and complicated their cup holders were. Mercedes is so confusing. Most people can get into an Audi and appreciate the quality feel and intuitiveness of most items inside of them.

    I've often wondered watching these, what do you do outside of youtube car reviewing? You seem to know too much about a wide variety of vehicles to not have worked in the automotive field at some point. For instance my knowledge about whats 'normal' for the rear of an SUV is exactly nothing and I've owned several cars and been an enthusiast my whole life.

      Scott has worked on cars for 15 years and done race team support. I have been involved with cars in some fashion for about the same time. Take a huge technical interest in it, likely should have gone into engineering.

    Oh. My. God. This car is soooo AMAZING. Actually, words cant even describe how amazing it is. It's that good. I was lucky enough to have this car as a rental and omg... it was just AWESOME. My entire family loved it. It was so comfy, so smooth, so spacious, and so luxurious. We own 2 Mercedes E Class (W211, W212). My parents were both skeptical with Audi, especially my dad since he only swears by Mercedes. My mom and I really loved how it drove, and the both of us dislike SUVs a lot. I've driven smaller SUVs and a M-B GLE350, and I disliked them. I could tell my dad really liked it, even though he was hiding it by saying "oh yeah... ok... yup its.. good." He considered buying one after the rental was over. Haha now whenever we pass by a Q7 he stares at it.
    Our model seemed to be a base model, but it had the supercharged 3.0T engine. This thing is FAST. I think its faster than both of our E350's. The driving experience is geared towards comfort but you can totally have fun with it once in a while. The car feels super solid, high quality, stable, and very safe. I almost rear ended someone because I was driving in a completely unfamiliar area (I live in California, drove the rental in Massachusetts) and the car stopped completely for me. I was so relieved. This car is the REAL DEAL.
