2021 Audi SQ8 | Replacing Sports Cars

  • Опубліковано 24 чер 2024
  • We review the 2021 Audi SQ8 SUV Coupe. The sports car and sedan world is shrinking and these strange crossover attempts continue to flourish with extreme price tags. On paper and mechanically it is everything that a high-performance machine should be along with all-season capabilities. We discuss the good and bad so you the viewer can decide if spending $108,000 is worth it. Other vehicles to consider are the Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes AMG GLE, BMW M Coupe, Tesla Model Y, and Durango Hellcat.

I can't get over how car manufacturers (and consumers by extent) think touch screen climate controls have a place on luxury cars (or any car for that matter). $108k seems pretty ridiculous. I can’t stand that $100k is becoming a “normal” price tag now. That’s literally like $1500-2000/month as far as payments are concerned! That’s insane for a car/SUV like this. The one thing that is saving this car from people thinking the same as above, is that it has a twin-turbo V8...something that was almost non-existent.

I mean I eat and drink and live in my 2019 VW Tiguan. Ketchup gets spilled, crumbs fall off of my Chicken strips, salt falls off my fries and this stuff ends up on the seats, and carpet and shifter/console area. I think any car gets crumbs and smudges and streaks. I’m OCD so I have cleaning products in the car and I vacuum the car often and wipe her down. Micro fiber cloths are my best friend and a mild solution of Dawn dish soap & water in a spray bottle as well as ammonia free glass cleaner. Most people don’t take fuss over their interior to that degree. I’ve recently bought a cookie sheet to eat off of in my cars and it helps tremendously. The lack of reasonable storage in the front half of the car would annoy me a lot tho! I love storage and need storage. This Audi is a great looking ride! But @ $108,000 I probably won’t ever meet the cost of admission and pass on it and choose an Acura MDX and stay under $70k hopefully. Thanks for your work here Mark!

It'll be like all Audi's like this similar to my Audi's that went from $60K to $6K in ten years and while great when they're , that's pretty much not common. You need to have 1. a solid Japanese luxury car as a backup because that'll be boring but bulletproof 2. a rather large bank account. Using the math I've done from all previous Audis if this costs $100,000 it means in ten years it'll cost $10,000 and where the cost to you during warranty will be next to zero while you make $1,000 car payments after the lease is done and traded in and winds up in someone's hands in ten years IF it's still even running that person will have to put approximately, and not even a made up number, around $1,000 on average per month (based on $12,000 yearly cost in repairs) to keep it running. So either way you're paying a grand a month long term regardless of where it is in its life PLUS the cost of a second car that will get used at least once a month while your Audi is at the stealership or a trusty third-party Audi repair shop. The final cost of owning a $100,000 Audi all told across owners after ten years can be over a million dollars, easily.

Living in the midwest with a RWD sports cars means not only swapping tires, but also not being able to go to out when there's too much snow on the ground due to getting high centered. While sometimes that's acceptable, other times it's not.
Also, with everyone else driving around a truck or large SUV, I can't see since I'm so low to the ground. I either have to wait until people clear out or nose too close to traffic to make a turn. After driving like that for 6 years, I'm starting to gravitate towards a sporty SUV as my daily car.
I've already got a motorcycle for a more engaging ride and I'm not going to buy a vehicle for twice a month driving. Never thought I'd ever consider an SUV for my next vehicle, but this is what it's like to get old I guess.
