I don't think I've ever seen anyone lose about forty years of age as fast as did Stephanie when Phillip asked how her Dutch was progressing. It was classic hand in the cookie jar time. Like another reader noted, the old "deer in the headlights" look. Stephanie's eyes are pretty big, but this is the first time seeing them like dinner plates. I think later, Lucie's gonna have some 'Splainin' to do.
I'm with Philip! Read the instructions! It saves time and frustration. He's a wise man. I would have so much fun with that too. After the instructions were read. I hope we see a lot of your creations to come. Bon chance!
Loved seeing Amaury’s workshop, it is amazing and very well organized. One special spirit departs (Jarred) and another arrives (Cat). The new sewing machine will be very useful and a lot of fun. Let your creativity flow! Hats off to Marie for her garden plans and to Maria for yet another delicious and exquisite dinner. Thanks Stephanie and Philip🙏❤️
@@sandraford4235He visited as a volunteer numerous times previously and has become a well-loved friend. I think this time he was just visiting as a friend before making the move back to the U.S. (he'd been living in Amsterdam)
It is so touching and heartwarming to see how much you all love Jared and he loves you all. So tender to have friends that you connect with on a deep level and it makes your soul sing. The little moment of the group hug speaks volumes about how you guys treat each other and love each other. That's why i love watching chateau diaries because it is not paid movie actors, but real people. I hope I can visit this place soon!
Yes, the whole concept of communal living came together at this moment, we arn’t designed to live alone, I’d love to live in this situation, there is every plus & very few minuses, I really love watching, long may it survive! John in Monmouth x
Visiting Chateaux de Lalande is on my bucket list. I want to personally feel the energy, pray for the chapel, pick flowers and chase chickens! Perhaps even bake bread for my friends who don't know me yet!
Really happy to see Nick and his bandsaw mill producing not just usable lumber, but premium grade as well. Very nicely done, you lot! Watching Jared leave made my nose sting. Congrats on the new sewing machine! Lots more creative fun to be had.
Cameron seems about as passionate about trees, and forest maintenance/landscaping. Under Nick’s tutelage he will be wonderful to continue the work, although I sincerely hope Nick doesn’t retire too soon. It’s amazing watching someone with that much experience and skills at work.
Philip is so patient. Look at his face when Marie says that they should order all their many seeds fromEngland. Philip says nothing but he is no doubt thinking that the best seeds in the world come from Holland and that they have everything and that ordering them from Holland would probably be faster, easier and a lot less expensive.
Blown away by the milling, then again by the sewing machine ... but nothing topped Philip's face when confronted about reading the instructions first! Your channel is THE BEST on UA-cam!
I have two embroidery machines but beware the items in your pretty box are more for hand sewing. Embroidery is a very deep well. Once you get started you'll be needing many more things to make beautiful things. You'll need cones of thread, bobbin thread, stabilizers and I could go on and on and on. It's very habit forming. You're going to love it. I do! The tension is not off you need to back your fabric eith a stabilizer.
I paused this at 29:19 to read a text and when I looked back at the screen the smile on Philip's face and the expression on his face was just so full of love and tender amusement- so touching and wonderful.
In high school we had this mandatory life skill course we had to take. It wasn't home economics, and we learned stuff like writing checks, budgeting, resumes, etc. But there was a room that we spent half the semester in that had like 10 or so different stations with different things to learn, and we had to choose only 2. I chose lasers and embroidery. They had a big embroidery machine that was so much fun to use, and I got to play with it for about a month.
Nick is lovely “in motion” even tho he’s working with big toys, he’s so skilled it’s like watching a dance. That redwood is spectacular and I can’t wait to see what is done with it! I see monograms all over pillow cases, sheets, towels and hand towels in bathrooms in the chateau logo! A special touch of luxury. It’s great to see Kat too! Have a wonderful week!
If only I could keep my tools as tidy as Amery. I bought a rolling tool chest (it’s really for car mechanics) but I’m so bad at putting things back in their designated spot. Bravo Amery-you are so disciplined!
Philipp Reading the instructions while Stephanie starts everything and then needing him right away! 😂 we really do need him there with you, Steph! He is so helpful! I like you two together ❤
Why should you order bulbs in the UK and pay income taxes on it when all the bulbs are grown in Holland. Most of the Dutch bulb growers like Peter Nijssen, Farmer Gracy , Fluwel all send flower bulbs to France.
Fabulous sewing machine! What a gift. AND, it was great to see Amaury again - his appreciation for the natural resource, wood, off the estate is great, and harmonious with the natural world we live in. Sounds like he is going into a one-man mass production project.
Cat!!! It is so good seeing her at Lalande. Appreciate Amaury's explanation of how his new shop is going to be more efficient for him. Hope Jared can return soon. Then there is Nick. He is a god send. Don't know what you and Dan would do without him. The thing is, all the Lalande family are remarkable in their own ways, and that speaks volumes to the kind of people you value and who value you. Have fun with the new sewing machine. Oh, have a question. Where is the cut flower garden going to be? Very glad you're doing that. Stay safe and be well. Best wishes to all.
Cat makes my day every time she’s there!!! She’s my GOAT. Philip is hilarious. I swear he’s a 70 year old trapped in the body of a 25 yr old - in a positive way, of course!! Philip, don’t feel bad Honey, my 21 yr old son is leaps & bounds more mature than both his 27 & 35 yr old brothers, so I get you!!! Happy you guys have a new toy, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot of it this winter season…. I can just see the Easter table now with every conceivable woodland creature embroidered on every napkin, tablecloth and seat cushion. Anyhoo - Enjoy!! CHEERS
OK, you need to use an embroidery interfacing/ stabiliser when you are working, then you will not get the issues with the tension on your work. You probably need to look at water soluble stabilisers which will work really well. I reckon that you have already realised that you can use white as the bobbin colours but look at either Gutermann or Brother embroidery threads and then just enjoy the adventure! Wait until you find what is out there on the internet to start sewing!
What's a stabiliser? All I can think of is a piece of some sort of material attached to the back of the piece which is also sewn into. Then removed when the job's done. ??
Loved every minute!! Can’t wait to see what you embroider. Philip, this would be perfect for your own vlog to show us what you’ve decided to do and how it’s fine. Brother might have found an avid audience here.
Amaury, you are a master craftsman. Nick cutting and milling all of that wood is a game changer for the chateau. Safe travels, Jared. You are loved and will be missed. Welcome back, Kat. Marie, your arrangements are beautiful. Maria, your menus are exceptional. Phillip, the table setting as always, beautiful, even though the soup spoons were missing. LOL. That embrace machine is going to be so much fun and functional. I see merchandise sales in your future. You all looked so lovely. ❤
God bless Brother! What a gift!! Very happy for you, Steph and Phillip. Looking forward to seeing new work. That workshop of Amaury is fabulous. So much to look forward to- can hardly wait.
Wow, the footage of Nick milling the timber harvested on LaLande, even though the trees were mostly removed for the safety of the buildings. The new embroidery machine looks like lots of fun, I've only embroidered by hand when I was younger and my hands were more nimble. I can't wait to see what lovely things it produces!
Oh my goodness - such a fun time watching Stephanie get caught by Phillip not studying her Dutch... so funny. And I love that Phillip is all business and reading all the manuals. And my heart broke as you all said your good byes to Jared - such a sweet and talented young man - I hope he visits again soon.
Steph a few years ago my husband bought me a Brother FS sewing machine. i absolutely love it as it is so easy to use. I hadn't sewn since leaving school many years ago but since having this machine I can sew, applique and do a little bit of free embroidery. You will all have such fun using it. X
You need to use stabilizers for embroidery to prevent puckering etc. There are various stabilizers depending on the design and fabric. Also get a huge cone of white thread for the bottom/bobbin.
So right. Besides the usual ones, there are ones that disappear with the touch of an iron and ones that dissolve in water when you're finished so you can make them disappear when you've finished your design.
Also, be aware that embroidery can be a bottomless pit of costs. Stabilizers, special threads, designs, kits, etc all add up very quickly. Ask me how I know! I showed your video to my hubby - he loved the workshop & tree portions, then bust out laughing when he saw the sewing machine. Just cause I own maybe 6? BTW, there are plenty of videos online about the machines & embroidery process.
So lovely to see Cat again! And the embroidery machine from Brother looks like it's going to be lots of creative fun during the winter months. Cheers everyone! 🥂🍾🎆
I never thought I would suffer from sewing machine envy, but here I am. That thing is a beast! Can’t wait to see all the lovely things you will be making.
I found a Souleiado shirt at a thrift store last week for $5. I’ve kept my eyes open every time I go Thrifting ever since you visited the store and filmed it. I knew I’d find something and it finally happened.
Wow, Amaury is doing an incredible job again on his new workshop! Always amazing to watch Nick and Cameron!! Sad to see Jared leave, but thrilled to see Cat is back! That Brother embroidery machine is incredible!! I’m a seamstress, so I really appreciate a machine like that. Can’t wait to see all that you create with it!!! Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Stephanie, I too was sponsored by Brother. I was an appliqué artist and quilter and was invited to demonstrate at craft shows. They donated to me a fabulous machine that literally did everything (except embroidery). I produced some great quilts and some of the designs when on to win quilt shows around the world. My designs, not my own quilts! One even won at ‘the’ quilt show in Paducah! They are great machines. Just you wait until you discover all its hidden talents - you may need to read the instruction manual to discover them though! I’m so glad that Amaury is taking time to set up his new workshop just how he likes it. I was worried that with him having to move from his original workshop and moving out of the chateau with Nati it was only a matter of time before the both spread their winds and flew off into the sunset. If he is doing so much to set up his new station, I don’t feel that their leaving is so imminent! Oh I’m going to miss Jared. But I think that Pavlina is going to miss him more. They are true soul mates, their creativity knows no bounds. I know he will be back but it will be a while as he has his own projects and goals to fulfil in Florida. I wish him and his partner every success. This was truly a lovely vlog, so much going on. And so many teasers as to what we will see in the near future, lots of crafting I think. You mentioned the fact you were planning to set up a sewing room next to a wood heater, is the central heating system not operational yet? Please tell me you’re not going to suffer another cold winter in the chateau. With love to all La Landers from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺
Love seeing Stephanie's dad's paintings around the chateau. Layers of history and artifacts enhance the chateau and modern art should be no exception! Longer shots or even an art tour of his paintings would be greatly enjoyed.
I love all wood furniture and paneling (i grew up with paneling). Now Amaury can replace all of Lalande's paneling that was lost during the fire. Nick milling all the redwood will result in something fantastic for the Chateau.
Yay, Kat's back!!! 😃 How incredible to be able to use wood milled from and on your own property! So glad it has a master carpenter like Ameury, to put it to it's right use. Wow, that embroidery machine!!! There won't be an untouched piece of fabric left in the house! 😆 Marie's food looks just divine as usual. Lotsa love, Jacqueline from New Zealand
Brother machines are amazing. And incredibly generous of the company to send such a machine to you. Here in the USA, the company is known as one of the best.
Awesome sewing machine.... I'd never have known such a thing existed ! What fun ! Milling your own wood to creating delicate embroidery designs... wow 🎉
What an amazing machine nick has !! And you can use your own timber from your own wood!! So fantastic!! Amaury is so talented! You are so lucky Steph!! Love watching your videos!! Hugs from Colorado USA!
So sorry to see dear Jared leave. Hopefully his home comes along well. He's such a clever and cheery fellow. He will be missed big time. Maria continues to come up with culinary delights. So good to see Amaury and Nattie as well. Love Marie's gardening plans and the new embroidery machine is monumental. Thanks for a delightful program Stephanie and Philip. Best of everything always.
Such a beautiful video as usual. The second name of Cat is ¨"Sourire" and she brings joy everywhere. All of you in your personal way are so exceptional. Too bad Jared left, I am sure he would made a brilliant design for the Lalande napkins. Carry on bringing us happyness. Love you all. XXX Yves
Pavlena looks lovely in her new to her dress. It is great to see Kat again. Amary's workshop is amazing. The wood milling is wonderful to have for you. And thank you Brother for the great sewing machine!
OH WOW! as a seamstress for 50 years, I am speechless at the machine. Well Done Brother for such generosity. I am shuddering at how you use it.....Philip is so funny....you are winding me up....we don't often see him get cross😂Pavlina has a special relationship with Jarred...I knew that when she dressed as him for the fancy dress🤣AND to find that perfect dress at Emmaus!!! Great to have the beautiful Cat back too.....all in all, lovely. Sandi x
I am so drooling over that incredible sewing machine. What an incredible gift for the chateau. I see napkins, table cloths, banners, so much more. It is like printing with thread. Astonishing. I wonder what Sarah thinks about it. 🧡
This tops my list of favorite posts ! Milling your woodland overgrowth returns the chateau to it's ancient value to the community.⏳️ Lovely embroidery and so much ahead 😁 Safety first Phillip 💖
You embody joy, just too see you interact, watch you work, ever smiling, tinkling laughter...what alive extending thing it was to find you and your wonderful chateau...thank you again...
Watching you all every time makes me want to be a part of your friends and family. Your positive attitudes and the love you have for each other makes me want to be part of it! You’d never get rid of me!
Fantastic episode. The milling process was amazing to watch, loved the music. Makes me appreciate Nick even more. The embroidery machine will be a great asset to the chateau, thank you for sharing all of this with us.
So Much to catch up on again. Amaury’s doing a fantastic job, so thorough in every detail. Really enjoyed Nick's on the spot filming, its amazing what's being repurposed at La Lande. Jarrad is so creative and so sweet isn't he. Pavlina is looking so happy and healthy, Marie is all over the flower selections. And the brother machine is simply magic! The food looks lovely as does the table.
Love seeing Cat again. That Brother embroidery machine is fabulous 🤩 Hopefully Amaury won’t have to move his equipment again. Nick’s milling machine is fantastic 😍😘
Embroidery is an art and their is a lot to learn. It is so much more than learning to sew. It is also an expensive hobbie. You can get designs for all most anything you want like Philip’s bees. Etsy has vendors that sell all kinds of things along with other companies that sell stabilizer, thread, bobbins etc. it takes patience to learn how to hoop your garment, what type of stabilizer to use, which designs are too dense for your fabric, how to troubleshoot the machine. Most often the problem is a built up of thread in the bobbin case or you did not hoop it correctly. Good luck. There are a ton of Facebook group that offer advice.
My mother had a brother sewing machine . She would make curtains, dresses for herself and my sister and I . She once made me a coat for Easter in the most beautiful salmon color pink fabric. When I saw the advanced technology I thought how thrilled she would have been to have one. Amaury is amazing, how organized and sensible his work shop is. I love that you will be using the wood from the felled trees of LaLande . Nick is so talented , wow ! So happy to see Cat! Marie I love that your planning bulbs and saving seeds for next year. I wish I could come and help you and Pavlina plant them. Maria is a 5 star chef 👏🏻👏🏻. Sorry to see Jared go he is such a lovely and gifted person. Have fun embroidering Philip &Stephanie !
A lively, fun-packed, varied episode, thank you so much. Nick's "portable" timber mill is awe-inspiring. And a tres grand Brother embroidery machine to boot.
Absolutely amazing , Amaury! You have an enormous gift! And a live for trees and their history. I so enjoyed this episode so much! So good seeing old gifted friends at the Chateaux
Oh that has made my morning. Amaury and the workshop. A place of dreams, creativity and beauty! Looking forward to seeing it come together. I need a workshop like that. The sewing machine omgenie! I neeeeed one of those in my life. Love the communication seesaw between you both!
Watched this twice as it was such a wonderful episode. Love listening to Amaury-so passionate about his work! Stephanie’s concept so many years ago, of filling the Chateau with beautiful like-minded souls, is bringing us all sooo much joy! 🙏🏽
Cat!!❤❤ You are a joy always! 🎉 When Cat is around the laughter hits an all time high and the fun begins to flow at an exceptional pace. We need more Cat ❤❤
I have a Brother sewing machine that still works great after 47 years. I sewed professionally for 4 years at a leather factory, it taught me to always clean and oil my machine first. Yours will last a long time with tlc. Love love watching your videos. Thanks

There is just something so satisfying about watching the sawmill at work!!!
Love seeing Stephanie's dad's paintings around the chateau. Layers of history and artifacts enhance the chateau and modern art should be no exception! Longer shots or even an art tour of his paintings would be greatly enjoyed.
As a fellow sewer I'm so excited for you and your new machine. Can't wait to see what you create xx
This is miraculous..like a genie...it probably does flying carpets!!
I have that Brother embroidery/sewing machine and I love mine. It has helped me make many quilts and other things. Have so much fun with it.
Amaury is so amazing. You are lucky to have him.
Amaury could perhaps coach Dan on keeping a tidy site and storage of his drills and equipment :)
I love all wood furniture and paneling (i grew up with paneling). Now Amaury can replace all of Lalande's paneling that was lost during the fire. Nick milling all the redwood will result in something fantastic for the Chateau.
Yay, Kat's back!!! 😃
How incredible to be able to use wood milled from and on your own property! So glad it has a master carpenter like Ameury, to put it to it's right use.
Wow, that embroidery machine!!! There won't be an untouched piece of fabric left in the house! 😆
Marie's food looks just divine as usual.
Lotsa love, Jacqueline from New Zealand
Brother machines are amazing. And incredibly generous of the company to send such a machine to you. Here in the USA, the company is known as one of the best.
That sewing machine is amazing! So sad to see Pavlina's bestie, lovely Jared, go. I hope they see each other again soon.❤
The milling process is absolutely amazing.
Awesome sewing machine.... I'd never have known such a thing existed ! What fun !
Milling your own wood to creating delicate embroidery designs... wow 🎉
Everyone is so talented and amazing at the chateau! What a great and capable team you have built around you! You are truly inspiring Steph!
Stephanie What a Fantastic Machine, Never Seen One Before Xx 😘😊,
The Brother is so impressive! Enjoyed!❤
With the amount you are spending on the church, you need to plant more wedding type roses and do weddings, they pay well
What an amazing machine nick has !!

Milling your woodland overgrowth returns the chateau to it's ancient value to the community.⏳️
Lovely embroidery and so much ahead 😁
Safety first Phillip 💖
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for showing the milling. I had never seen before. Impressive!
You embody joy, just too see you interact, watch you work, ever smiling, tinkling laughter...what alive extending thing it was to find you and your wonderful chateau...thank you again...
Amaury certainly understands work flow and how an organized work space affects the overall projects.
Watching you all every time makes me want to be a part of your friends and family. Your positive attitudes and the love you have for each other makes me want to be part of it! You’d never get rid of me!
it's poetry in motion watching the machine cut the wood.
Fantastic episode. The milling process was amazing to watch, loved the music. Makes me appreciate Nick even more. The embroidery machine will be a great asset to the chateau, thank you for sharing all of this with us.
You’ve probably sold hundreds or more sewing machines with this video! Makes me appreciate all the hand work done years ago for sure…..
Anmaury doesn’t care to talk much about coffee and cups but put him in his shop!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
All those skills at Lalande from different people coming together to make a beautiful chateau.❤ sewing machine envy😊
May I suggest that you get a rubber mat to put under your machine for noise and movement. An old yoga mat works great for that.
Absolutely amazing , Amaury! You have an enormous gift! And a live for trees and their history. I so enjoyed this episode so much! So good seeing old gifted friends at the Chateaux
Sad to see Jarrod go 😢 but Pavlina in that dress is stunning 😮
Agreed! She is a joy!
I'm team safety instructions! You never know. It's an expensive machine to ruin by not knowing something. 😂
I have a Brother sewing machine that still works great after 47 years. I sewed professionally for 4 years at a leather factory, it taught me to always clean and oil my machine first. Yours will last a long time with tlc. Love love watching your videos. Thanks
Oh that machine is everything!! Endless possibilities.
It’s always a treat to see cat n Marie in the château. Another wonderful vlog this is. ❤
Maria is a gem…..so talented, so wonderful to have around
