I remember watching this before I bought my Trailblazer. It was helpful.
Potato creek is about 20 mins from me. I haven't went there yet but it would be a nice place.
They don't sell this model anymore but it would be a good first kayak for anyone. I wasn't to comfortable when I took it on a heavy boat traffic lake with big waves so I stayed near the shore (I had my dog with me also) but on smooth water it is wonderful. I tried the Bandit 100 (the sit-on-top model) and took it back the next day and traded for the Trailblazer. Difference was night & day. The TB was so much better.

Great info for everyone - thanks for sharing! Try to check out Potato Creek - it's a great place for kayaking and the bike trail is the best!

The Pelican trailblazer 100 is a beauty. I have seen ppl use this in class one to class two rapids, which would require a spray skirt (unless it's summer and you don't mind getting wet) . So in other words, baby rapids lol.
Some specs on this yak: she is ten feet long. 38 lbs. Large cockpit. Storage hutch in the back held closed with bungees as stated. Ppl have also said that the rear storage is not waterproof. Bungee storage on the deck. She also has adjustable foot pegs.
Relatively easy to get in and out of with practice. Easy to maneuver, mine glides through the water with ease. She tracks well also, even in somewhat windy conditions, although a tad bit more effort is required on windy days which is understandable. I have her in the lovely lavender, and I named her Lila lol! Ty for sharing, you will get more confidence on the water as time goes on, I have 😊

LOL..Class II in this thing? Ummm, no. This is a cheaply made, flexible plastic kayak for smaller people and calm water. No sealed bulkhead means it will sink when flipped.

Sorry, I can't believe anything in this review when the reviewer doesn't even know which kayak she's in.

So, when I try new food, and I think it's fantastic, my wife should not believe me unless I know the name of it ?
I'd better avoid French restaurants .

Great review. Pelican makes affordable and solid kayaks. I prefer a kayak over a boat to get on the water and fish. 👍👍

It's been great for us to get started. We haven't fished yet in ours, but I see so many of you do - and catch great fish in them!

Well, that was worthless. Didn't show me anything. Just listen to someone talk about what she likes. I now know nothing about that kayak.

Did you ever take it out on Lake Michigan? If so, how did it go? I live by Lake Superior and am looking into getting a kayak so I would like one that is relatively easy to handle and works well on bigger bodies of water.

Yes, I did! I have two other videos about that, actually. It does fine in very small waves. It can handle a little bit of chop, but I wouldn't trust it in much or very far off shore. Great lakes are just too unpredictable and dangerous! We have several miles of beach here and it does just fine for paddling along the shore in nice weather - perfect really. My understanding is that you really need a sea kayak for the great lakes if you want to be safe and do any serious kayaking, though.

Okay, that answered my questions thank you! I might end up looking into sea kayaks as well as a recreational kayak.

Since you are not a experienced kayaker, DO NOT get a sit inside without learning how to do a reentry. Take lessons so you are prepared. Trying to upright a sit inside kayak in any kind of water is dangerous if you don't know how to do it. I suggest a sit on top of at least 13' if going out on lakes where there are waves/whitecaps, rapids, since they have scupper holes to drain out the water coming in over the bow or sides. Stability is much better on a sot vs sik (sit inside) too. Don't paddle alone and always wear your pfd.
