    I love my Scupper 14 so so much! I'm glad you appreciate it, too. Such a great, nimble, speedy, stable, comfortable, easy-to-get-in-and-out, great-for-touring, all-around boat! I give it bonus points for being an excellent boat when I'm being a safety paddler paddling and swimming races!

      Just had it out on the water a few days ago for the first time in a while, and remembered why I gave it an award! It is a great boat.

    Love the Swell with it's deep roots from designer/builder Tim Niemier who invented the Scupper Pro back in the 70's (now owned and sold by Ocean Kayak. It's a outstanding sit on performer that can hang with most sea kayaks.

    I'm impressed, you covered a wide range of boats. I've always pretty much badmouth sit on tops as most of them tend to be like a barge and quite heavy. the one you reviewed is when I would actually consider paddling. thank you for your input

    Hi Ken,It was great you considered the se330 worthy of a mention.I agree with everything you said about it in your review,yes it is a gateway kayak , but it is more than that.I have tried several hard shells but always come back to my 330.

    Thanks for bringing these "new to me" kayaks to my notice. I'd like to add a few really nice kayaks to your list that I have tried. On the cheap end, the 1) Pelican Bandit (Sit on Top), 2) Trailblazer (Sit Inside) and 3) Field and Stream Blade (Sit Inside). On the expensive kayaks, 4) Wilderness Systems Aspire 105 (Sit in Inside) and 5) Eddyline Skylark (Sit Inside) 6) Wilderness Systems Pungo 120
    >Out of all them if I had the money the best one for me is the 105 as its an all rounder. It's under 50 lbs with a skeg, caddilac like seat, skid plate, monstrous 400 lbs capacity, sealed rear bulkhead, tough rotomolded construction and insane tracking and stability.
    >The blade has a similar feel albeit without the features or comfort, the Pungo is faster and more "sporty" but not as spacious.
    >The Pelicans and Skylark are very light.
    >Speed wise the Pungo and Skylark are the fastest.

    Hey there. This is a great compilation for sure! I was curious about what would be a good boat for paddling in the chillier shoulder seasons that would take a little chop out on a bay or lake and keep my butt on the dry side. Just wondering. Thanks so much. NQU

    i like the looks of the liquid logic; it's a lot like my Boreal Baltic 120. And has common elements with my "dream machine" - the feel free Aventuras. (eyeing the 14' in that family). Some of these prices are hard for me to cope with. My inner scotsman says no. ;-) But, I love the reviews! I got my Baltic "sight unseen" based on what I learned from your videos. I got it on sale, and I knew it was a good deal from what you'd said about other kayaks that were of interest to me. I was thinking of a big box model, but, I knew I'd be wanting to trade up in a hurry. As it is, I'm trying to get my daughter to trade up, but she only has eyes for her F&S Blade 97. Ah, young love....

    I really like your channel. always lots of interesting information. About the hard shell sit inside recreational kayak : I think the Liquid Logic is the only one that you have tested this year? Was it still difficult for you to obtained kayaks to do some reviews? There is lots of great thermoformed and composites kayaks of which it would be great to have a review from you. I am thinking of Eddyline, Delta, Swift, Stellar, Epic,...Have a great day

      I would love to review more hardshell sit-insides. It was VERY hard to get my hands on them this year. I'm hoping it will get easier next year. PS. Something that really helps is when those companies hear from people, who suggest they send kayaks to me for review. Feel free to 'poke' them! :)

    • @RallyOFever
      @RallyOFever Рік тому

      @@PaddleTV I already did that with some of them! ;-) But I think they had difficulty keeping up with the demand! Hopefully, next year It will be different! I ordered last December a Sandpiper from Eddyline that I received in July. I really love this kayak! It has a great stability, is light weight, and track well. Very happy with my choice! About the inflatable kayak or SUP : I think they will restrict the inflation with compressor in some places (Ex. beach), because it makes a lot of noise and it bothers people who go there to relax !! Therefore, the ease of transport will be reduced because sometimes the launch is far from the parking lot. Thank you for your reply! I like your channel! Have a great thanksgiving!

    Would it be worth getting a Virgo if I already have a WIlderness Tsunami 140? I'm looking for just a bit more speed, but want to keep stability.

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  Рік тому +1

      The Virgo is similar to the Tsunami 140, but more playful/higher performing. It will will be a little faster and deal with rough conditions better than the Tsunami, but you will probably give up a little stability for it. To be honest... I don't think you'll get much extra speed or give up much stability... the bigger difference will be the Virgo's playfulness in varied conditions. If you want more speed, I would look at the Leo instead of the Virgo.

    • @TheExtraTerrestrial
      @TheExtraTerrestrial Рік тому

      @@PaddleTV Thanks a lot, that's very helpful! If I didn't already have a good 14 footer, I'd probably go for the Virgo, but like you said, it might not be much of an upgrade. TBH, I'm not really interested in more playfulness. My local store does have a Leo, but it's the HV version, which might be too big for me (I'm about 160 and 6 ft).

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  Рік тому +1

      Yikes... that's a tough one! Really depends on the purpose. I like the Bonafide SS127 for lake fishing. I like the Jackson Coosa HD for river fishing. Haven't tried any of the Old Town Sportsman fishing kayaks, but would like to. I also like the Native Ultimate FX 12 for calm water. The Pelican Catch Mode 110 was a good fishing kayak for the price too. So many to choose from....

      That's a hybrid that's not a good choice for touring (too short, too wide) or kayak camping (lack of room), but a good pick for white water, rivers, and lakes. I would take the Swell Scupper Pro over it in a heartbeat.

    About Leo… 23 inch is fairly narrow? Really? Mine is 23,2 and 17 feet long I kept it a bit wide. Well, everyone in my area thinks same and what I’m arguing because I’m so green after a year’s paddling history 😅 But do you really count 23 inch wide more narrow than wide?

    • @nunyabidness3075
      @nunyabidness3075 Рік тому

      He’s addressing the entire spectrum of users. My primary home is in an area where most users are recreational and fishing. Those people thing 23 is skinny and special purpose. Around my vacation rental 60 pounds is a joke that you should be ashamed to rent to a tourist. Different strokes.

    • @JakkeLehtonen-Jagster
      @JakkeLehtonen-Jagster Рік тому

      @@nunyabidness3075 But there is no such thing as entire spectrum. Inches are inches and that dictates how a kayak reacts. That is not a relative question. If one should buy MV instead HV is such one, though. I know terms like fairly this and that are personal matters and that’s why I would like to know how the master himself thinks and sees this ;)

    • @nunyabidness3075
      @nunyabidness3075 Рік тому +1

      @@JakkeLehtonen-Jagster I’m pretty sure 23 is very narrow for a fishing platform if you want to stand, and fairly wide if you want to race. He responds a lot, so maybe he will see this and respond.

    • @swellwatercraft327

      23" wide is not narrow for a 17' kayak. Length means they can be narrow. 23" wide on a 12' kayak is damn near impossible...

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  Рік тому

      Sorry for the confusion Jakke. I was saying that 23 inches is narrow in comparison to all kayaks. It's not a narrow kayak compared to other 16 foot kayaks, but it is narrow (and therefore faster, quick to edge, but less stable) than recreational kayaks that are considerably wider. Make sense?
