    That's amazing! sometimes I see breeding behavior on my green neons and cardinals, they live together so I am thinking that they might be eating the eggs and any fry that's able to hatch, I made the mistake of introducing two Apistograma Cacatuoides to the tanks and those guys are ferocious, they wiped out all the cherry shrimps in my 20g tank 😢 they would definitely not allow any fish fry to survive if any ever hatches, thanks for sharing!

      Thanks, Sergio! In my experience, it's very challenging to get tetras to spawn and grow by itself. Although it's not impossible, I've only had one ember tetra fry survive in a heavily planted tank before. Introducing two Apistograma fish would definitely decrease the likelihood of any fry hatching and growing into adults.

    Hey Bo, are cardinal tetras easier to breed than ember tetras?

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Рік тому +1

      Hi KP, Cardinal tetras are generally more difficult to breed compared to ember tetras. In my experience breeding both types of fish, I've never had an issue with getting eggs from my ember tetras, but with my cardinal tetras, I've only had about a 50/50 success rate. Additionally, ember tetras tend to lay more eggs than cardinal tetras.

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Рік тому +2

      Hi,is this your first time getting the eggs? If it's your first time, it's possible that the eggs weren't fertilized. You can try again and make sure to use clean, filtered water for hatching. I've found that using water from a community tank can also work well , so you don't necessarily need to use distilled or purified water.

    Do you need methylene blue to hactch green neon eggs?

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Рік тому +1

      Hi Haricot! I personally have never used methylene blue before, mainly because I don't have a large amount of fish eggs to hatch. I think using methylene blue may potentially improve hatch rates for those who have a large quantity of fish eggs. Thank you for your comment!

    Hey Bo, what is your feeding regime for conditioning tetras prior to spawn? I.e., are you feeding twice or four times and what sort of foods are you using?

    • @bothetetrabreeder8734
      @bothetetrabreeder8734  Рік тому +1

      Hello! If you want to breed a specific type of tetra, ideally, we should separate the males and females into two tanks. Feed them plenty of live food, 2-3 times a day. This way, we can quickly condition the fish and prevent them from spawning prematurely in the community tank. However, this approach is quite strict and demanding, requiring a lot of time and effort. Nowadays, I don't follow this method. I don't feed them special food a few days before breeding either. As you can see in many of my videos, I keep all my tetras in a community tank. I mostly feed them flakes and occasionally offer live food like baby brine shrimp or mosquito larvae. When I want to breed them, I simply select the healthiest males and the fattest female.Most the tetra I breed are all pretty common ones on the market.

    Hi Bo, thanks for all the informative videos! I am currently trying to breed neon tetras and was wondering if the fry can be raised in pure distilled water? I just had a batch of fry that died on the second day after hatching using distilled water and i was wondering if the lack of calcium and other minerals might have contributed to that.

      Hi Polysheep, Thanks for your comment! I also had the same problem recently. I tried to hatch green neon tetra using another type of bottled mineral water, but all the fry died before reaching the free swimming stage. Finally, I used the old water from the fish tank to hatch them again and found that there were not many deaths. I don't know the specific reason, but some types of distilled water may not be good to the growth of fry.

The female has a short and round body, while the male has a long and slender body. You can check out my video on "Neon Tetra Fish Breeding Tips: Conditioning and Sexing" for more information.

      Hello! I remember the temperature was about 26 ℃, but I don't think it was the reason that led to their spawning. The main reason was that I fed them blood worms every day.
