- Footage from a twenty-six day float down the Colorado River in December of 2019. Five oar-rig boats rowed by fifteen people. This short edit documents major rapids (class 4 and greater) from Lee's Ferry to Pearce Ferry (mile 280).

That Hance run got spicy. Watching someone run down Hermit sideways gives me anxiety, but it looks like she was a tad right of the meatiest meats? That Crystal run, maybe three seconds into the clip I thought "They're going in the hole for sure," nice job squaring up just before it, probably prevented a flip.

having rowed drift boats a lot I agree. I get freaked out when i see a boat sideways in heavy water.

Took out at Pierce 5 days back. Having run rivers all over North America I'm here to say that the Grand Canyon is about drinking, with some rafting thrown in.

Im curious, do you stop to camp along the way or do you tackle the hole trail in a day?
The whole trip is about 280 miles and takes about 14 days

What was the average temp on your trip? How cold were the nights?
To be honest, not really sure. Once we were on the river we didn't really keep track. Woke up most mornings to frost on the boats. Most day were probably in the 40's and low 50's!

the class of rapid, I believe
Grand Canyon rapids are graded on a 1-10 scale where Lava Falls is the hardest rapid (10) . The rest of the rapids are then compared to it and given a difficulty rating. Crystal rapid is the only other rapid rated over 8. A number of rapids like Hance, Granite, Horn and Upset and others are rated an 8. A few 7's, a lot of 4, 5 and 6's and plenty of 2's and 3's. I don't recall seeing a 1 in the guide book...but they kind of leave the riffles out of it since its already chuck full of rapid descriptions.
Crystal Felton there are more then one 10, but like he said, they are measured 1-10 within the canyon. They have their own scale.
