i just got my first hedgehog and I named her peanut. I need to clean her cage but I haven't been able to buy replacement bedding so im trying to clean it and make it last as long as possible although I think im going to be able to go out and get her new bedding and a few other things tomorrow and then ill also be giving her a bath
Good job on the cleaning but does your hedgehog have a heat lamp?, those are very important for if you don’t they could attempt hibernation and that may lead in death.
Your hedgie is so cute!! However, I wouldn’t recommend allowing him to use dust baths. The sand can irritate his eyes and dry out his skin. If you don’t already, make sure to give him baths using only water and hedgehog safe soap. Always make sure to RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH before attempting anything new tho!!! But otherwise I loved the vid and ur doing great!
it's not a dust bath. it's play sand. after hours of research and discussion with breeders, I was given the approval to use play sand. he doesn't get dry skin, he is always insanely clean because he bathes himself every night. trust me, i've put in hours upon hours of research in the last 10 years.
Hello! I have some questions about owning a hedgehog.... 1. If you go to school, can they be left alone for some hours? 2. Can they go on car rides? 3.Can they go on planes? Thank you!
They can definitely be left alone! They're in a cage so they can't really escape haha. I take mine in car rides when necessary but some do get car sick. They're kind of like cats. food, water, room to run wild in their cage, and frequent attention lol. As far as planes, I am not sure. They are illegal in some states so I'd research that!
Our hedgie likes to sleep under the pee pads also. I felt so bad because the floor under the pee pad is hard. So we cut the pads into smaller pieces...it worked because now she sleeps in her snuggle sacks.
He eats a high protein cat food! Research types or talk to a breeder to find the best brands for yours if you have/get one. Some fruits/veggies in foods are toxic to hedgehogs so you need to be very cautious of what you feed it.
just make sure you bond with it!! Every. Single. Night. for a minimum of 30 minutes you will want to hold it. Even if it's when you lay in bed on your phone. they need to smell you and get used to you. My hedgie was amazing and we bonded instantly but my first one took 6 weeks before she stopped hissing at me and came out of her ball. it takes time and patience - never give up on the little buddy.
@@jesseva299 this cage is larger than the minimum requirements for a hedgehog. So I’m not sure why you say that! He has room for his wheel, litter box, sand box, food, water and sleeping. My hedgehog uses barely half of his cage when he’s playing and uses the other half to sleep. He’s very happy!
Buying a hedgehog will only increase animals legal and illegal trade, causing them great stress and sufferings, where they will be at worse bought by careless people who will grow tired of them a few weeks later or who will not take care of them as they should, at best by people who will take good care of them, but contribute to the big scale suffering. They are wild animals and need to live free. Because of these videos, people are also trapping them in the forrest and taking them home, no matter if is it a mum whose babies are waiting for her to feed them. Man already has tamed many animals, now millions of them are mistreated, bought and then abandoned. Do we really need to always find other animals to torment? You probably mean right but you are not helping. If you agree with me, pass on the message, and go take care of a poor creature waiting to be rescued in an animal center.
what a cute hedgehog!
thank you!!
What cage is this??
Hello! I wanted to tell you that I love your videos and also I wanted to ask if you use any special soap for the wheel or...only water? ._.
Hi just wanted to say if you are struggling with the poo it is possible to train hedgehogs to only poo on wood shavings
Where can i find hedgehog food?

He doesn’t need a heating lamp when the room itself is 80 degrees because this was in the middle of summer and Scorching hot outside.

All hedgehogs pee and poo on their wheel. You'd have better luck with putting a litter box under the wheel. That's what most people do.
@@DarbyImperi well he uses it like a dust bath…pretty much is. Maybe you should take some advice from Layal S

I SUBSCRIBED YOUR CONTENT IS SO GOOD AND YOUR REALLY UNDERATED I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU FED HIM BECAUSE IM GETTING A HEDGEHOG OF MY OWN SOON🦔
