I'm fine with this, one of mays biggest weaknesses was her midscreen damage being bad/situational and now we have a ton of stuff to work with. Very cool.
I like the rework.
We have to keep May's buff a secret from arcsys. Everyone keep complaining until they buff us again

They must've heard the complaints maybe they have some more buffs in mind
I can’t find any new may content but I’m glad our lord yomi is providing
WE OUT HERE WITH THE COMBOS. The best place to find this stuff is on twitter under the hashtag GGST_MA I found a few of these ideas from him, various discords etc.
Holy crap, actually putting the button commands on the screen during this showcase is INSANELY helpful, especially for someone who's new to fighting games and not quite used to the whole 1-9 number system thing. Been playing the game as May for a couple weeks now on floor 6 and can stand my ground a lot of the time but also get my ass kicked a lot too, so this will definitely help me improve! Really loving Strive so far!
Having the inputs on screen absolutely helps! Very nice to still see new players picking up Strive and May as well. Let us know if you ever need help or anything :D

I can actually see myself using these unlike the aircombos we got from last patch. These seems genuinely applicable and optimal now.

I always think 5p wallbreak looks funny
The song cut out before the chorus and that gave me blue balls but aside from that, I love the new combo routes

Oh I didn't even consider that heavy dolphin would link into 5K now. That's good to know
I didn't either! Depending on the spacing you can do 5h/HS Dolphin/2S too (on CH)
Strive just came out on Xbox and naturally I picked may because she seemed like a fun character to play! I appreciate the video and I love the passion you put in also :p
Don’t really see this as a buff tbh. She got some combo variety but lost damage and had her best neutral and pressure tools toned down. Nothing about her offense is particularly scary anymore, especially in a game with characters like nago, Leo, I-no, and Ram.
I don't necessarily agree but her offense was weakened with the removal of some 4 way throw mix options and the 3k safejump removal. I think she's nerfed more because other characters are gonna maybe powercreep her

If nothing else, this patch taught me not to be a doomer until I've actually had a chance to play. The changes sounded so much worse on paper than they were in practice.
RIP 3k though, we had fun times together.
Same tbh, I was so doomer than so excited when I saw the combos. Once the dust settles from the hype, I guess we'll see where she really stands
Even though i got introduced to GG through strive, i still like ACR and XRD more than strive, there's just something that feels good when you land long combos in XRD
I dunno if May was overall nerfed or buffed but one thing is for sure, SHE IS MORE FUN NOW! we have combo variety now, I dropped the game on S1 cause May is the only character I liked design-wise but spamming HS-H dolphin on every optimal combo was boring af. Now being optimal is fun. I dont care we lost 3K knockdown. Fun is more important for me.
I def agree, I'd say she's about the same power level but she's a bit powercrept
@@YomiFGC Yeah I cant believe nago and ram got away with murder. Someone at arcsys must really love nago. He is the new Rev Johnny. But well, at least Im having fun with the game now.

If you use PC would you be willing to make these into Combo Trials? I'm having trouble and like being able to just watch how it should look without alt tabbing out of the game and clicking on youtube. Love your vids regardless
I definitely could! If I were to make a follow-up I'd include it, I think a lot of these combos are fairly unrealistic now? A bit more optimized now

Unfortunately no..I don't think I actually uploaded them lmao. I forgot..
Combo 1: jH CH > 5K > 6H > [2]8[H] > jD > IAD > jP > jP > wallbreak (works from round start, can probably do IAD > jH > 5K > 6H > [4]6[S] > wallbreak instead if you need to push the opponent a bit further)
Combo 2: cS > 2H > [2]8[H] > IAD > jH > 5K > 6H > [4]6S whiff > 5P > wallbreak (easiest to set up by catching an opponents fuzzy jump or anti airing them with cS, if you get a CH you need to delay the 2H a bit to normalize the timing on everything else)
Combo 3: 2S CH > [4]6H > 5K > 3K (video shows dash 5K afterwards, not sure if it's meaty but if it is and you catch your opponent mashing you can loop it into Combo 1)
Combo 4: OHK in corner > [2]8[H] > block burst > cS > 5H > [4]6[H] > 5H > wallbreak (if they don't burst on [2]8[H] you can get another burst bait attempt by blocking after cS as they come down)
Combo 5: 5K CH anti air, dash cancel cross-up > cS > 2H > [4]6[H] > 5H > [4]6[H] > wallbreak (not really something you'll get to use a lot but the combo is simple and the hardest part is recognizing when your 5K will anti air while you're in the corner)
Combo 6: 2K CH anti air > 6H > [2]8[H] > jD RRC > cS > 2H > [2]8[H] > IAD > jS OTG > dash > meaty (again not sure if this is a real meaty, pretty sure you're minus after landing from jS, definitely meaty enough to punish a greedy option like vertical dolphin)

yeah it still works just make sure you are running when you do the cS otherwise it's wonky
