I love this man! He gave me the confidence to bake things I never thought I could! He also got me to bake my first loaf of bread at 65 years old!😲. He is so calm and supportive! Thank you John!!!
"When growing on the vine, the green colored bell peppers are the first to appear. Then, as they're left to mature and ripen, their color turns from green to yellow, and then from yellow to orange. Their final stage of maturation is their fully ripe, red color." Jessica Rice, dietetic intern at Mississippi State University
As far as im aware thanks to gardening and having seen over 60 varieties: green peppers are most often just unripe peppers. At least if i want green ones, i pick unripe ones xD Yellow, orange, red but also brown, black, creamy white and purple all are actual different colors from different varieties :)
I only grew bell peppers once. From memory, I think when I left them on the plant they started turning red? But maybe it was green, yellow, orange and then red. I just don't remember that many colors. It was a lot of years ago. The peppers were small so that's probably why I didn't try again
@@recoveringsoul755 oh you could try a different variety then! Or maybe the weather/soil wasn't very good for the plant. But as from my experience, red peppers turn red directly and so do orange ones :)
I have a question. I googled this but still not sure. I wanted to get fresh raw shrimp at the store. But instead of that. They brought back devein shrimp that has no tail. I am a little confused. Can you breads these type of shrimp and deep fry them like you would the fresh shrimp? I am elderly and if I could, I would have went to the store myself. But, I am disabled. I think the package said pre cooked. I was a little upset when i seen the shrimp. I didn't say anything to the person that purchased them because they did the shopping for me. So, I just let it go. I hope that I am saying this right?? I do know that i shouldn't cook them that long. I just wanted to know if I can bread them and deep fry them?? Thanks!!
@@osmonfrances2407 you could still do that yes! They could end up being a bit overcooked then but pre cooked shrimp are okay to heat uo again by frying them up a bit in a pan, so breading them and then deep frying them should be fine too!
@@osmonfrances2407 of course you could bread and deep fry those shrimp. I think no one‘s answering because it’s a bit off-topic. But go ahead and fry them the way you like it is still the same shrimp. Just the butcher went ahead and cleaned and devained the shrimp prior to selling. In other words, they made it a lot easier for the consumer! Happy cooking.😃
I love your stuff so much heart ❤ Could you start mentioning how many people your measurements serve while cooking? It'd be real convenient to know to double it or reduce it for my table size.
Just made this tonight. It was a hit with the family. I substituted fresh string beans for the asparagus because I got everything at Costco and they didn’t have any asparagus Still great. Thanks!
All sweet peppers are green before maturing into red, yellow, orange or purple/brown (weird shade). I think the colored ones taste the same regardless of variety, but green being less mature is less sweet.
This is correct. Restaurants know peppers other than green are more likely to have blemishes -- because they are just past peak ripeness. All peppers start as green; variety determines whether green turns red, or yellow, etc.
Couldn’t wait to try this no sooner I watched this earlier, I made it. Oh my God! It’s so colorful & yummy 😋 I was fortunate enough to have some penne pasta from Italy.
Just made this tonight. I didnt have high hopes as I've had pasta Primavera in a restaurant before and it was bland with soggy veg but not this recipe! It was so good! 🍝
This was so delicious! I’ll definitely be making this all summer. Only thing I’ll change is more garlic - I used more than the recipe calls for and it still wasn’t enough for this garlic addict!
Looks delicious! I add carrots to my primavera and cook my veggies on a sheet pan in a 450 F oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring once rather than on the stove. I've never added lemon juice, but I will definitely need to try it next time! Thank you for sharing your kitchen with us.
Thank you so much for your UA-cam channel! Because of your videos I felt very inspired to learn to cook/bake better meals. I even bought your cook book and made the Mahi Mahi! Recipe was absolutely amazing my kids that hate fish even ate it! From your UA-cam recipes I made for my husband was the cinnamon rolls it was a great hit here! I would love to attempt it again but was wanting to know if I used a sour dough starter instead of yeast how much starter would I use for that particular recipe. Look forward to your next videos and I hope you come out with another book!
💯♥️ as far as the bell peppers go I have seen a bell pepper with orange, green and yellow in the whole pepper itself, which looks really pretty. And I’ve also had a pepper that had a whole other pepper inside of it, which I think is really cool when that happens, lol😂
The color of a pepper typically indicates its MATURITY, and that does impact flavor and heat. As peppers ripen, they tend to become sweeter. For instance, green bell peppers will be more grassy and bitter in flavor than red bell peppers. And the same is true between green and red jalapeños and any other chilies.
The variety and amount of time a bell pepper spends on the plant determines its color and ripeness. Green bell peppers appear first and are the least ripe. As they mature, they usually turn another color. This may be yellow, orange, red, or purple.
This is absolutely delicious! I've seen your pasta primavera recipe before while going thru youtube for a recipe that would be something different....i had no clue how delicious it would be...thanks for this recipe! merilee beck, leola, sd
Instinctively I always add a couple tablespoons of butter to my spaghetti sauce. I never understood how something so little could make it taste so much better…now I know 😊
Do you do find that using the knife sharpener you get some metal shavings? I never did this before but now I use a damp paper towel and pull the knife through. I was amazed at the amount of silver type shavings I pulled away. I thought it was maybe the knife or sharpener quality but they are both Wolfgang. Interested in your experience with this. Keep the great videos coming, sir. I appreciate them very much!
I only like the orange and yellow bell peppers. I think they are milder in flavor than the red and green which I don’t care for at all. My boyfriend says they all taste the same, I disagree. 🤷🏼♀️ I love your videos, by the way! 👍🏼
The bell pepper thing is true but your friend got the info partly incorrect. it's specifically the Green Bell Peppers that are pre-mature. You cant buy green bell pepper seeds, you can only grow yellow, orange and red types of bell peppers.
I made this for my husband's 70th birthday and we loved it. It's a wonderful blend of textures and flavors, and healthy too. Thank you!!!
I love this man! He gave me the confidence to bake things I never thought I could! He also got me to bake my first loaf of bread at 65 years old!😲. He is so calm and supportive! Thank you John!!!
Me too!
you're cooking like the maid is coming in an hour. flinging onions and pepper seeds everywhere! i like the flair.
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely Love it! 🥰

Which is why many people have trouble digesting green bell peppers.
There's different varieties of peppers tooooo, so
Thank you so much my husband just lost his best friend and I believe his favorite meal just might cheer him up ❤
Love the onion peel throw over the shoulder! You crack me up, John!

I love your flexibility in seasonings, noting that personal favorites can be used!
I can't wait to try this but I am going to saute some large shrimp at the end and add to it.
Adding the shrimp sounds really good!
Butter and noodle water? 😱 Who knew that would make a difference? It made my pasta primavera soooo much better! THANKS!!!

Your cooking is next level quality delish I wish I was your neighbor 😂
😀 So hungry & this looks so good 😋
Could you use 1 T olive oil and just 1 T of butter or would that not be as favorable? Looks delish, John! Thank you
Yup! Should be just fine :)

As someone who actually grows peppers. They grow green, then yellow, then orange/red. All on the same plant.
