Mercedes OM602 getting ready for swap 1/5

- I took a chance and bought this engine for $400, it came from 1992 Mercedes 300D. Tested compression in all five cylinders ,and it was excellent; showed 410 to 440PSI , checked hydraulic tappets for clearance, I also removed all unnecessary gadgets and wiring since it came from automatic transmission car. I put new glow plugs, deleted EGR. Here is the first start, I would say it sounds very healthy. I am thinking now what offroad 4x4 I am going to put it in.
If you have any suggestion or experience with om602 motor swap, I would like to hear from you , I have no idea what adapter kits are available out there.

Hello. I have the same engine (602.2.5 D 90 horses) and I'm thinking of adding a turbo. The question is whether such a project is possible and successful. you have more experience, what needs to be changed :)
I had a 92 om602 super diesel and I sold it to some guy that somehow caught it on fire on his way home😭😭

How can I find parts for this car? Like I got the engine to start up but I need the radiator and all the tubes etc . I bought a new belt. Besides eBay is there any other websites you recommend? Also what kind of turbo would you recommend for the 2.5 om602.911?

@@arnold92morales10 With the modes you are your own mechanic, the radiator can be fit from different car, the hoses can be fit as well,just improvise yourself. Garrett T3 turbo is the good one for this engine.

The saomeone is mine i convert mechanical pump just like yours but i cannot start engine?
The engine has mechanical injection pump,no need to convert, I converted only the waste gate actuator.
I'm doing one too, into a 91 toyota pickup 4x4. What about you?
Hi Shane, I will chose a vehicle based on what adapter kits are available. So far I was able to locate kits to join the engine to transmissions that bolt to small block chevy and ford, and jeeps. For Toyota I have never seen any kits available. Are you
going to take a challenge and make your own.
@@expressyourselfist yes, I'm making my own for my Toyota. Might sell them once I figure it out.
@@shanecall Cool, all I need is a flywheel from Mercedes 300D manual transmission then I can drill it to fit clutch pressure plate from whatever transmission I will have, just have to make sure to order the flywheel that has a pilot bearing in it because in some models there is a pilot bearing in the crank shaft, all depends how long is the transmission.
I just know it overheats like a mf
I have never experienced overheating, maybe because I am running my own design intercooler, also there is a way to drill a hole in the engine block to improve cooling of the last cylinder.

No, I am glad it is indirect injection.
I have an om662 and i think its the same as this engine with some mods .... how can i get it to 200 hp?
@@shadishehade8927 Well, give the engine more fuel by upgrading injectors and the pump, then it will need more air so you need to upgrade the turbo. It will cast you about 3K.
@@expressyourselfist what kind of oil should i use for this engine? Does 15w40 work?
@@shadishehade8927 Yes, I am using 15W40, the manual for this engine shows different oils according to the temperatures that this engine will be operating, this one is for from -15 to +30C.
