Great, but... I would like to hear the same comparison between this units, but always with the same riff. Preferably interleaving between amp and unit, amp and unit, amp and unit...
The least digital sounding, without that top end fizz and mid-low mud, with great definition and fast response, was TH-U. The dynamic seemed a bit level, but not displeasing. Second was the Mooer Preamp. The AXE FX and the Bias were last, in my book.
Please Please PLEASE upload a video of all the units playing the same parts of the riff. Seriously eyeing the mooer, but couldn't get any of the low notes in this comparison. Would really appreciate a 1:1 comparison, thank you very much! :)
All of them are very close to the original except the Fractal units. Bias is one of the closest, but sounds weird after the Axe units, which are way off. Tone comparison demos like this need to have the real amp in between each of the clips to reset your ears because people are way better at judging relative sounds vs. absolute.

As someone said, all units with the same riff would be better for a comparison. But thanks anyway. The Kemper sounds great, a bit too boomy in the low end for my taste, but I'm really surprised by the sound of the GE300 and the MOOER Preamp Live. From all units their sound is most pleasant to MY ears.
Kemper and both Mooers. I'm sure you could tweak the AxeFX units to sound more like anything here, same for all others, but I'd go with my mentions for the simple fact that they capture real amp tones also and sounded great here.
Yep as expected. Mooer over axe. Amazing for the price difference. I use an axe II, and couldn't believe it the first time I used a mooer preamp. That ge300 is making waves also. And far easier to use...Fractal...
Good products. For me Kemper all day long. Kemper imho had always the best (100% identical) plug and play amp tone. But, man, just look what Moore has done for a few bucks! Mooer impresses me really with these two new units. Seems to me like whoever's spends thousands of bucks for "High CPU units" ... ;-) in the year 2019 ... only for amp modelling is simply nuts.
Idk why people are shitting on the bias so much? Considering that he didn't even tweak anything the tone matching was almost pretty damn spot on. The fractal sounded the worst imo, but I'm sure would sound spot on with more tweaking. The fact that any of these even sound remotely close is insane. Lesson learned: Once you learn how to EQ shit properly, you'll sound like the real deal in no time.
There are many things to like about this video: you didn’t waste time talking, you nailed the volume level differences between the units, you picked an appropriate song for the demo, and the soloed-guitar screenshot from Logic Pro X was a great idea. But the video also makes a fatal flaw that, for me, is a dealbreaker; you didn’t tweak the sounds in any way. This puts a serious disadvantage on the Fractals (which are the most tweakable units in the comparison), and gives an unnatural advantage to the Mooer and Overloud products, which have a lot less user-programming depth. Two suggestions for next time: 1. Instead of just playing the raw model, do what an actual player would do with each unit: tweak it to get it as close to the amp as possible; 2. Go back to the real amp between each modeler to refresh viewers’ ears. Great job, overall. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
You make valid points, but ag the same time, the video is about each unit's ability to match the tone of the original right out the gate. Sure, you can tweak each to match the original sound, but that's more work the user has to do after all the time spent getting the original sound. Full disclosure: I am a Kemper user. I chose the Kemper because unlike the others, it has the ability to record and play back every part of the original signal chain with NEAR total accuracy, as opposed to being an interpretation of the original tone.

All are great, but still missing this kind of depth or air real amp has. I don't know what is it, is it transients or dynamic response maybe, but all amp sims still to feel a little bit more flat in response than real amp, more compressed like. It’s cool to hear this but your comparing models to previous model, should be the actual amp clip leading directly into each model, cause u can’t really make out the differences otherwise.
Bias played right after the Peavey sounds way better than right after the axe. axe seems to have an undertone sub distortion thing going on. kemper not as impressive as i would have expected. all in all, they are all workable with some tweaks. matching amps is great but getting the 'best' tone regardless of match is key to me.

ChoptonesOfficial it’s the problem with AxeFxIII... when I had it I spent hours and hours refining my sound, trying IRs and everything... it’s killing creativity and pleasure to play. With Kemper you always have good profiles and then time to really play guitar.
Samuel Guymer Kemper sounds the best. Just fantastic. I think your ears need syringing. Kemper is very, well Kemper like. If you hear a Kemper in a room it will be like a Kemper that has a loud sound. Kemper is Kempered, you know what I am saying. If you profile a Kemper will it sound like a Kemper or a Kemper profiled. It is really strange to think about. I have no idea with Kempers to be honest although I would like to hear a Kemper with a Kemper on the roof?
Glass bottles for the win in my opinion. Really awesome job with the 57 and 421, sounds kill. That being said, modern amp modelling is 97+% there and getting better every day. In the mix its virtually impossible to tell what was used. Conclusion: Yes
1. Kemper - hard to distinguish. 2. THU - Just a little loss of upper end clarity but otherwise very close! Impressive. 3. Mooer stuff - Lacking body, a bit fizzy and lack of definition. 4. Fractal stuff - definition not bad but something weird in the mids. sounds hollow. 5. BIAS - sounded a bit thin and brittle.
Bias is not an amp matching device, its a software amp simulation. There no work put into it that would make it sound similar to the original amps, and is therefore as bad as Amplitube. STL Tones just released 3 artist plugins and its ToneHub software and I'd like to see how it would match up on this list.
I think the edge of sound difference is erased. It is so small that you can not notice it. I prefer use compact size things and after buying processor there no reason to use real amps. It works for me.
The real thing (6505) is the best for me. Then i like a lot the Ge-300. The Fractal is not good at my ears. Would like to see Boss Gt-1000 in this comparasion. Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘
Had a talk with mark Knopfler about his Kemper in Paris and he said « we have tested all those Fractal, Kemper and digital boxes and only Kemper has the level of amp feel and sound to reproduce the touch of my fingers and great tonality, in fact it’s an amp, not a modeler, that’s simple, try it by yourself » and « no I will not sell the profiles, just make yours by yourself with the sound you like, you can’t always rely on someone else creativity »... argl not so cool Mark ;)
By fact none of them will match the amp 100% cuz is still very hard to mimic a tube amp's response 🤔 My ranking: Kemper GE300 TH-U Axe FX3-2XL Bias ( very decent btw, I will start using it till I get a GE300...love that unit and what Mooer is doing)
Should use the same riff in order to hear the difference. Fractal the worst and please don't tell me you can tweak the fractal because all others can be tweak too just because you supported Fractal.
The both axefx where most of .the last plugin seemed closer but my ears where already too adjusted to the axfx. Would have prefered hearing that before them.but nevertheless al useable tones.modeling has come a long way
I thought they all sounded good until we got to Bias. They gonna have to up their game. The big winner is Mooer. They brought amp profiling to the $400ish price point. The others will have to take notice.

ChoptonesOfficial if the Fractal was great, why didn’t the tone match do a decent job of capturing the tone of the sampled amp? That’s the whole point of tone match, so you would not have to tweak. Every good sound engineer knows that the initial recording has to be as good as possible before adding or subtracting.
ChoptonesOfficial I did not say Choptones did a bad job, because you did an great job. I’m talking about Fractal’s matching capability doesn’t seem as convincing in this demo as some of the other lower priced units.

Fractal was disappointing, last one..... Anyone have the same low end of 6505... Excelent video. Thanks
No helix?
Mooer really really good and on the money.
Sorprendenti i mooer, bias e kemper quasi uguali anche se al kemper sembra di sentire un certo aliasing sulle alte, fractal deludenti
Why is the axe fx so off?!!!
Kemper is of course impressive here... Axefx II and III are the less accurate....
We love also Fractal devices! In fact, Fractal allows to go very deeply in tweaking. As we said, tones were not tweaked in any way, is the pure result of the matching process embedded.
ChoptonesOfficial it’s the problem with AxeFxIII... when I had it I spent hours and hours refining my sound, trying IRs and everything... it’s killing creativity and pleasure to play. With Kemper you always have good profiles and then time to really play guitar.
Kemper sounds thin and lacking harmonics. Worst in the bunch.
Cazzuto come sempre!!! _\m/
It gets muffled in the 2 Fractals.
Kemper is the best !
Killer lick!!!
Kemper all the way
Had a talk with mark Knopfler about his Kemper in Paris and he said « we have tested all those Fractal, Kemper and digital boxes and only Kemper has the level of amp feel and sound to reproduce the touch of my fingers and great tonality, in fact it’s an amp, not a modeler, that’s simple, try it by yourself » and « no I will not sell the profiles, just make yours by yourself with the sound you like, you can’t always rely on someone else creativity »... argl not so cool Mark ;)
Kemper jonol...👍👍👍
By fact none of them will match the amp 100% cuz is still very hard to mimic a tube amp's response 🤔
My ranking:
Kemper
GE300
TH-U
Axe FX3-2XL
Bias ( very decent btw, I will start using it till I get a GE300...love that unit and what Mooer is doing)
I own an AXE 3. It's important how do dial in the tones. This soundclip is not good, sorry. Wrong IR in my opinion
Please check our other comments about AX3
mooer !!!! wow but you do something to the AXE FX wrong to make it sound Bad 🙄
just kidding 😜
Uhm... Why does axe sound like it's an amp mic'd up in cardboard box?!
Bias amp is the best in my opinion
THU!!
Bias plugin sounds almost same as original..other less...but all sounds good. good demo...thanks
Tomas Pavelka The high end frequencies sizzle and singe my ears! A simply low pass filter doesn’t help much because the midrange isn’t very defined!
Kemper for the win!
Th-u
Original and Kemper. Forget the rest.
*Positive Grid* no way
Im dont like bicorse you gais didint a only rif for bolth machines! This is the more corret way for make a compare!
Should use the same riff in order to hear the difference. Fractal the worst and please don't tell me you can tweak the fractal because all others can be tweak too just because you supported Fractal.
Yes, every platform could be tweaked, but this was the result of pure Tone Matching algorithm.
They all sound great, I love how The fractal sounds!
The both axefx where most of .the last plugin seemed closer but my ears where already too adjusted to the axfx. Would have prefered hearing that before them.but nevertheless al useable tones.modeling has come a long way
Bias Amp
Fractal Axe III
I thought they all sounded good until we got to Bias. They gonna have to up their game. The big winner is Mooer. They brought amp profiling to the $400ish price point. The others will have to take notice.
..... What?! You're gonna tell me the Fractal stuff sounded good? Listen to the amp and skip to the Bias.... It's nearly dead on.
Bias fx sounded the worst, no doubt about it.
lmao the kemper to me sounded better than the real amp
Bias FX
Mooer GE300.
That axe fxiii lost every single bit of tightness the 6505 had
use same riff next time
My grandma wouldn't like any of them.
ok
fractal it's so far...
We love also Fractal devices! In fact, Fractal allows to go very deeply in tweaking. As we said, tones were not tweaked in any way, is the pure result of the matching process embedded.
@@orbithesun1 Capturing Job has been done well by our side, with every platform.
ChoptonesOfficial I did not say Choptones did a bad job, because you did an great job. I’m talking about Fractal’s matching capability doesn’t seem as convincing in this demo as some of the other lower priced units.
@@orbithesun1 Tone match on fractal its just an extra, where Axe shines is on the modelling, not the "profiling".
Noise, Noise, Noise!!!!!
Kemper the best. Im really impressed by mooer. Th-u sounds good to my ears. Fractal the worst....
Hah I can`t belive but the Bias beat others, then next best is Axe.
You deaf m8? So much difference between the real thing and Axe Fx.
