This is exactly what I needed to hear! I honestly feel like the Good Lord led me to your channel. I've been wanting to start my own handyman business for a couple months now, but fear has been getting in the way. I believe I can do this, for me as well as my family!
Yep. Same here. Just turned down a high paying corporate job. I realized I am solely devoted to my kids and family and can’t bring myself to give 14 hours a day to a company. My loyalty is to my family and I decided to take the risk.
I'm 69yo and started doing handyman work about 10yrs ago and have never looked back. I have done all kinds of work in my life but this is the most rewarding and beneficial job I've done. It doesn't get better then this when at the end of the day your customer has a big smile for you
Thank you so much for this video it really blessed me. I’m in a similar situation as your start up, where the expenses were moving at a faster pace than the income due to family expansion. One of the things I worry about the most is the shakiness in starting out, my previous engineering job was giving me about 80k but it wasn’t enough to sustain the life we wanted to live, which was very modest tbh. I know exactly what to do, from watching your videos as well as others but that fear of getting out there just persists. As a fellow brother in Christ I can appreciate your advice so much more because I feel like this video popped up on my feed at the exact time I needed it. Kudos to you bro, you’re doing Gods work 👍🏾 Hopeful to connect with you one day.
You nailed it. There is fear that comes with setting out on your own, BUT, as you said, the phone will ring. As long as you're an honorable, respectful, talented individual, the word will spread. I've seen it firsthand.
You're telling my story. I left my electrician job to move across the country back with family and starting my own handyman service. I needed to watch this!! THANK YOU!!
It is a blessing to see a couple say that they are going to have as many children as the lord gives them. There are so many cowards killing their babies. The Lord will fix a way for you to take care of all of your babies if you put him first. I wish you the best and the blessings from God for your business.
That is where im currently stuck! Working 8-5 for a Communications company that used to be great, but has turned toxic. It is scary to take the step, but I need to just start like you say! Thanks for the great advice!
You are great. I worked as handyman over New York City for high end building. I ended as working building super. I just move to Tampa Florida’s and starting my own business. Before that I was union carpenter, vas a Forman for a long time. Was in Virginia on the craft house doing some installion on some cabinets that build on the shop we did American Express , Ralph Lauren at 72nd and Madison. Have a lots experience. Butch I know that I going to need help. Please advise.
Thank you so much. Ive just left my job and starting a new part time one on Monday with the hope that I can start a side business as a handyman. My hope is the part time work will give me a steady income to develop my own business, but it’s scary man so you’ve given me the confidence to keep going with my dream. Thank you. 👍🏻
I just open LLC ( handyman/home improvement), and got a license few days ago... I start working for somebody at age of 19. After 20 years I realize that I am financially at the same point like 10 years ago... per hour I earn more every year, but it doesn't catch up with inflation, so now its time to say bye bye to steady job... Yeah there is a fear, and I have just 2 kids... I am in this comfortable situation that my wife earn 6 figures, but in NY you need at least 250 000 per family with 2 kids to consider yourself lower middle class, everything below is just poor and you can live just from paycheck to paycheck...
I appreciate your encouragment through your videos. I'm a husband and dad of four daughters. I recently started a handyman business on the side for extra income. It's going well so far. I totally agree there is a huge market for this industry. Especially if your in an fairly dense area with an aging population that has disposable income. I'm excited to see where the Lord will lead... Keep the videos coming!
Thank you for the videos that you do I really appreciate all the content that you provide. I have many areas that I can relate to having a large family and in the near future I will be quitting my full-time job/career of 11 years to pursue Handyman work. it is a challenge to make the plunge but I feel like it is a much better fit for my interest, and ready to hustle!
how do you go around doing handyman work without nay licensing, like electrical or plumbing licensing? I know how to do the work, but these rules seep very strict, would I not be able to swap out an old outlet, or replace old plumbing fixtures without the licensing? love the content btw.
get home improvement license, so you can appear as a license contractor (in so many states you don't need any experience to do that, and all this paperwork just looks complicated). People who call handyman don't care you have plumbing or electrical license, but often they care about your general liability insurance. Mostly if it's outlet, light fixture exchange, or vanity/toilet installation nobody gonna ask about anything. I wouldn't do anything more serious. Its good to know plumber and electrician, so if by accident you get some bigger job to do, you get subcontractor to do that. Even if you not gonna make money on this at first time, it's always a lot of work especially after electricians. This way you start make your name as a person who make things done. I am working for general contractor, (rich customers).... so many times for smaller things I was a plumber.... or electrician.... nobody never ask about any license. If job required permits.... that's another story... than you need a friend with license :).
Hi there, great video! Thank you for sharing this handyman journey of yours! Much appreciated! You mentioned you used Home Advisor and Yelp. Are you still using these platforms? Do you recommend using Task Rabbit as well? Thanks in advance. Love your videos and keep up the great work!

I don’t use any right now due to to much work. I still have a home advisor and yelp account for reviews but that’s it. I have never tried Task Rabbit
