The weird part is that I've been busier than a one armed coat hanger lately, despite all of the China virus freak out. Seems that people are spending more time at home and noticing all the stuff that needs to be done, at least that's my guess.
BRO DON’T IGNORE THIS MESSAGE THERE’S CONTAINERS LIKE THE YELLOW AND BLACK ONES YOU GOT BUT WAYYY BETTER HUSKY BIGGER WITH CLEAR TOP CUSTOMIZABLE ORGANIZERS ...9 bucks!!!! trust me 10000x better than those at Home Depot !! but they will sell quick I got them after seeing same video by Adam Savage!!!!!!
I do the same thing soldering iron since I was a kid breaking parts of the B&W TV etc and I was 15 I learn how to do stick welding metal or aluminum fabricating metal gates and making roof thrushes being all around HANDYMAN I learned all thru experience I’m watching your nice videos all the time.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
When you find a place for all your plastic containers, get some 1/4" plywood and make separate shelves for each one. Don't fall for that "stackable" because you will never want the one on the top. Been there.
Just watched the video and came on here specifically to say the same thing. My wife has a shelf like that for all her craft stuff. I'm about to build one for all my containers. Never need the one at the top.
Been a Timberframer for 25+ years. Carpenter for 40. Almost always been lead carpenter/ superIntendent on jobs. Do handyman stuff as well now. You don’t need a bunch of gimmicks and tools. You need knowledge and skills.
Every time I go to Home Depot I buy a couple of inexpensive Stanely tape measures. I must have over twenty of them yet I can never find a damned tape measure.
I can say that I’m well satisfied with my Lincoln M P 210. When I needed a welder for dummies I bought it and used it to learn how to strike an arc. I’ve used it for several projects in the past few years. I’m no professional welder by any stretch but I can use what I have to burn metal that holds. It had the option of being able to be used on a 20amp 120 volt circuit as well making it extra portable to do light jobs where 220 isn’t available and where I really don’t want to tote a generator, like upstairs in an urban environment where you have done repairs in the past. Just a thought..... or two. Keep putting out record setting content handyman!
I have that welding machine and it’s been a really reliable and good machine. Your looking at $2200 - $2500 for that machine to do what you want. $1,500 for the machine, $250-$300 for the spool gun, and $500 for the tig components. You’ll also need to dismantle the machine to add in tig components but irs only about 30-45 mins to do...
I've always used Miller but my dad bought the Lincoln 210 last Christmas and I used it to build a trailer with no issues at all. 1/2" tubing. I'm sure you would be happy with it.
I also watch Austin Ross welding UA-cam channel he has some great suggestions of welders to buy. The guy has been welding for 14 years and is a mobile welder. Mary Christmas 🎄
Get an everlast welder, I’ve abused mine for 3 years now and it’s been great. The most bang for your buck out of any welder. A friend who welds Professionally uses them and he’s very happy with it. He uses his daily for the last 4 and hasn’t had a problem.
Yep. I was going to say if you want bang for your buck get a green welder. Blue and red work great. Also make sure the consumables are easy to find and not proprietary.
I finished my shop walls with 7/16" osb, and stained it with minwax red mahogany. Nailer grids against the wall. The dark stain covers the black print on the other side. I laid 1/8" dark brown luan for the ceiling after putting stringers every 4'. Doesn't sag at all, and i have insulation bats sitting on top of it. It's nice and easy to move an 8x4 sheet to access anything large stored in my trusses. Really happy with everything.
Lol That reminds me of a commercial from the 90's or early 2000's. UA-cam the title 'Budget rent a car aromatherapy'. 😄 Classic, when commercials were actually funny.
For small parts that fit in small zip lock bags I use a binder with 6 per page baseball card holders. I know it sounds crazy but it works and you can fit a ton of stuff in a small space. Of course this is for small parts but those are the easiest to loose.
I’m a professional organizer and I gasped when you opened the cabinet!! My advice, not that you are asking for it, is to empty every cabinet and drawer, categorize and LABEL EVERYTHING!!
Hey Handyman three things I love about you, number one that awesome beard, two those really cool t-shirts , and three that gorgeous ROLEX!. Really enjoy watching your videos keep up your great work Handyman!🍻
Just wanted to say thank you for your content! I started a home care service business 2 months ago and watching your content has helped me make some good waves in the local competition around here. Merry Christmas.
I enjoyed your video. I love how we all share tips and suggestions with each other. I also love the Gerber multi-tools. However, I like the less expensive Gerber Suspensions because, for only like $30, I'm not afraid to lose it and I also feel naked when I don't have one on me. For me, multi-tools are like sunglasses. I only seem to lose expensive sunglasses but I never loose the cheaper ones, lol. All the best to you and yours!
I left this same post to one of your subs. The Starett Angle Finder... It’s an amazing tool, being able to transfer the angle of the cut directly to the miter saw. I got turned onto it by Richard @ Finish Carpenter TV. Richard goes into detail on separate videos with how to use both the Starett Angle Finder, as well as the bullnose measure and cut tool. If you haven’t seen his channel yet you should! He’s one of the best trim guys I’ve ever seen!! The tightest, tightest miter corners. He’ll show you how to caulk, miter baseboard, miter crown, understand spring angle and how to do the best cuts, including coping. I’ve learned a lot from him!
I worked for lincoln electric for 4yrs in Ohio. Best welding tools hands down.... Did you have any luck hunting this year? I didn't, not many opportunities to go out this year.
Harbor Freight small part storage solutions: I like the little black wall mount boxes with the clear pullout compartments- like 1.99 apiece and they all interlock with each other both on the sides and top and bottom so you can make a compartment bank as large as you want or need. They're around 21 cubic inches and being clear, they're excellent for small stuff and random miscellany.
@@TheHandymanBusiness I know you are going to buy it. You have the same look on your face that my wife has when she's thinking about buying some new Christmas decoration.
I have just recently over Xmas holiday fitted a Mitsubishi wall mounted heat pump to my mancave replacing the Chinese diesel heater.. much quieter, cleaner and over time cheaper to run . It’s doing a beautiful job.
Handyman, when you label your containers also number them and take a picture of contents and put pictures on inside of the cabinet doors. Use Polaroid photos, work well.
Hey, thanks for getting vulnerable there, and showing the rest of us that work hard for a living that it is not unheard of to have some disorganization in the shop. I just got done setting up my new storage shelves and “bench.” Now to get to the rest of the stuff in the middle of the shop. Love to hate or hate to love HF. Ya just can’t beat the price on some of that stuff. Great vid! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
I have one of those clicker things, different manufacturer but exact same thing basically. I used it for the Christmas lights this year on the inside of the house, so much easier than going around unplugging everything. Those things are great, so many uses.
I grabbed a remote last year from the Christmas light section at HD and use it on my vacuum detailing cars. I can turn it off without running to the vacuum and wasting time. Put additional lights on your 3rd remote for an area you sometimes could use additional light. Old Folgers coffee cans are great for organizing. HA On a serious note, what about the cubbie style holders that are a little bigger organized on a pegboard wall so they are low enough to see what is in them. Or my mom (retired skilled trades electrician & machine repair) had these gray boxes with clear front with pull out trays that were clear so you could see what was inside. Always full of nuts, bolts, washers, wire nuts, etc. They could be hung or sat level on a workbench.
Also if you're in the Christmas accessories aisle. They have remote outlets you just plug in line with the cord of whatever you want. Has 3 channels. I use them to remote the Christmas lights and turn on the basement lights
As I have found over the years, when I buy a “multifunction” machine, I always end up buying another machine for a single purpose. I just have converting my machines and end up just getting dedicated machines for portable mig, portable stick, shop mig, ect. The multifunction machines have a good idea but always seems to waste too much time and become a hassle for me when it’s time to change processes.
I don't know jack about welders, but please keep us updated about how those bins for fasteners work out. I've been scratching my head about the same thing lately. I watched Adam's video about the 8 foot tall cart he made and that's pretty overkill for my needs. Thanks!
The welder question! You can’t go wrong with Lincoln welders! Very reliable and tons of parts available! Also the model you suggested is a beast for the money!! Help me now? How do I grow my channel. I’m a handy man in Iowa? Any certain tags I should use? Or any suggestions?
Go miller hands down. I’ve used miller and Lincoln everyday for years and always went back to miller. I personally bought the miller 215, it’s around the same price range as the Lincoln you stated. Love the videos and hope this helps. The differences are minimal but for someone who doesn’t use it everyday it will make a difference. Worth the extra $$
I had an old lincoln welder , it welded ok, then I got a new miller multimatic 215, it migs tigs and stick welds, I love it, I paid about 1200.00 for it last year, I watch all your videos, keepem comin ☃️
Thank you! Gonna get those pens for sure.No nothing about welders but on your next paint project I only use Wooster Pro Dooz roller covers, just work great always! 3/8 or 1/2 inch your rolling a lot of walls. And Sherwin 2 1/2 inch Contractor Series Angle brush with thicker handle. BEARD🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Best Regards Todd Wynn Wynn Painting Ada ,Mi
I have a buddy that does a lot of welding, and had bad results with a combo welder. Atleast where adding TIG into the mix was concerned. I think his combo mig/stick works fine for him. But now he has one dedicated for each.
I was dying laughing when you opened that cabinet and said “Go easy on me.” We all have that same issue. Just got a bunch of the dewalt organizers, planning to do the same thing.
Nice video, thanks. I also have the Gerber center drive but paid less than $100 bucks for it a couple years ago. I'm building my house and plan to have a work shop so good stuff to know on things to get. I really like the remote control thingy. Gotta remember the filter behind the fan!!!
I bought that same welder a couple years ago. The computer screen feature was an option then. Even I have been able to figure it out, but my son does a better job welding! I felt like I paid plenty for it, 15-1600, but it does work well. I wonder what the problem is with the HF welders. They are cheaper!
Look into the Millermatic 200 Really depends what stick welding you are gonna do and rod type you plan to use 6010/7018/6013. it likes the 3/32 at lower temps but can run the larger rods a hotter temps. It is 110 or 220. I run mine off my 30A generator with the 3/32 rods.
Only downside of the 210 MP is that it is a little bit of a hassle switching from the standard mig gun to the spool gun. You end up wasting 10 or 15 feet of wire every time you swap between the 2, because you have to either cut the welding wire to unplug the mig gun to hook up the spool gun, or re-spool all the wire that is inside the mig lead. Other then this one tiny issue, my 210 mp has never failed in the last 3 years or so that I have had it.
The sander that hooks up to the shop vac that you use has saved me so much dust ache! That is probably the best “tool” I have been suggested from your channel! Keep it up and happy new year
Ermergurt Handyman... don't you know that the aluminum oxide on the outside of that can will mar your tablesaw surface?!? Lmao I love this video! Hell, half of why I watch these is making sure I'm not missing something to do when I build out the next shop.
I’ve had the opportunity to up the mp 210 for job. Works awesome never a complaint. The only one that top the mp 210 is the multimatic 220. Looked it up and the price point is a little higher but it really is an all in one machine. Just less equipment for us to carry on the job.
I bought a Hobart Handler 140, which is a nice little MIG welder. I did have buyer's remorse because I thought the Lincoln's had a better reputation and well my brother had a Lincoln so there's that. I also wish I would have saved my money to buy a multiprocess machine so I could try my hand doing some TIG welding but at the time they were still quite new and high in price. I could have skipped buying the Lincoln Tombstone welder and having a sore back for a week or two as well. I'd gladly own a Hobart, Lincoln, or Miller though. Comparing the multiprocess machines from each company in the same class as the 210MP; you have the new Hobart Multi-Handler 2000 with an MSP around $1199 (cheaper at retail places online), Lincoln is $1499 (higher on Amazon), and Miller Multimatic 200 is $2285. I don't have any real substantial comments but if you haven't checked out Jody from Welding Tips and Tricks, he has several videos on this machine. As well as a million awesome videos on welding.
I'm glad you hopped on the center drive train. Isn't it nice? 90% of things that need addressing throughout my day can be done with it. If I was running a crew, everyone would have it.
Keep in mind the Lincoln MP210 is made in Mexico and isn’t really the same build quality as the US built machines. As a Miller/Lincoln/Esab certified repair tech, I would suggest looking into a Miller Multimatic 200. It’s going to cost a few bucks more, but it’s built with better components, more portable, and built in Wisconsin. Good luck!
Took welding 2 year in high school just didn’t go that way. Definitely would choose the Lincoln over a Miller if you are choosing between has way better handles feel much nicer in the hands
I just spent 5 hours rewiring my entire tool trailer with a soldering iron. The factory wiring was all done with "crimp" style connectors. Great little welder. Look out for a rebate from Lincoln before you buy one. I got $450 off my TIG 200.
Look into Everlast welders. I've had a stick/tig machine for 5 years. LOVE it. Dual voltage as well. Harbor freight heat shrink sucks. I get mine on Amazon. Better price and works really well.
Handyman your wrong that isn’t the best parts organizer. I go with the hdx interlocking ones from the depot. Usually around $10-15 for a two pack. Since they interlock when you have to take them on site they don’t slide around as much in the truck.
I bought a bunch of the containers with the yellow movable dividers. I hate them because once a few washers or screws get under the divider you have to constantly fix the dividers. Just a hassle. If I had to do it again I would only get Fixed Space containers with varies size sections.
So glad I've found your channel, thinking about starting a "Handyman" property maintenance business. I'm a 30 year Electrician with some woodworking skills Quality advice Thanks for it all
I've had one of those angle finders for 20 years. Those are a must have tool. I think it's a Starett. Paid $29 as I recall. I thought that was kind of spendy for a piece of plastic, but it's a good plastic and a thing hasn't twisted a bit or broken in all these years.
Randy, you are correct, it’s a Starett Angle Finder. It’s an amazing tool, being able to transfer the angle of the cut directly to the miter saw. I got turned onto it by Richard @ Finish Carpenter TV. Richard goes into detail on separate videos with how to use both the Starett Angle Finder, as well as the bullnose measuring tool.
Do a French Cleat wall I have had them in the past and when I get another shop I will be doing that. There is a lot of information on UA-cam about French Cleats and is well worth the research to see if it will be right for your shop and life.
The HYDE sander and Home Right paint sprayer that you recommended work great! I replace the paint sprayer filters with Dollar Tree scotch-brite pads. they got clogged pretty fast wile painting the underside of a 2nd story deck. Thanks
When I primarily converted from site work to Cab shop, we had a system of organization, which included two major things. Accesability (small Parts) and larger cabinets and drawers. Kitchen Cab's are great but arnt really suited for our stuff. Consider building a few custom sized Cab's based on your needs..(when you have time) lol as I havent even insualted my shop yet.. ugh
I have those magnet dishes! In fact, I have about 12 of them and 11 are full of misc screws and washers ready to go into my unopened flat stack-able organizer tray. I don't know where the unused one is.... time to buy more.
Oh man, I literally just went to Harbor Freight yesterday and bought the magnetic parts holder. Even though I actually went in to buy a pry bar...........
So I'm retiring this summer and wanted to do some HM business. Been in construction 45 years and done the work and managed the work in big and small ways. Do you recommend going to an LLC? I don't want to do large work, mainly repairs and difficult repairs. Thoughts?
Just noticed your air filter looks to be backwards on your fan, the air flow arrow is to be pointing the direction the air is flowing not where it is coming from. It will filter better and move more air.
The tote bins from harbor freight are great $5.99 on sale. I loaded up about 16 of them and built a section with dividers for them into my island table in my shop. I had put on labels on the outside of the center handle and when you look at them all stacked up you will see that the labels tell you what's inside. It works very well for me and hope it might for you. I can send you a video of them if I have your email address.
I have always like using Lincoln Electric welders. Can't go wrong. They work well and everyone uses them which means the company stands behind their products. I have to avoid HF. Won't leave the store for under $100.
Hey Handyman, what's your electrical opinion on this: Heunwa Power Save, 90V-250V 30KW Electricity Saving Box..sold on Amazon for like $15, suppose to stabilize current and reduce electricity usage...think it works?
@The Handyman Business Get the Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC the last multi-purpose welder you will buy (until they come out with mig/tig/stick/and underwater multi-welder)
I have the Center Drive Plus amzn.to/3qZklqU

You could save material just by using the end strips to hold them and not the entire bottom, just a thought.
@@martyjosephson4937 Good point. And they could be aluminum angle or something a little more durable than wood.

I have a buddy that does a lot of welding, and had bad results with a combo welder. Atleast where adding TIG into the mix was concerned. I think his combo mig/stick works fine for him. But now he has one dedicated for each.
I love my mp 210! Perfect for on the go jobs and camping. I used it a couple of time camping for someone. Work is everywhere..lol
I was dying laughing when you opened that cabinet and said “Go easy on me.”
We all have that same issue.
Just got a bunch of the dewalt organizers, planning to do the same thing.
Thanks for the diesel heater update!
Have the ghost portrait made into wallpaper to decorate the walls of the shop. I’d definitely tell the wife we’d have to buy the place.
Handyman!!!! You are spoiling me with all this content!!!!
Milwaukee has a soldering iron and you can’t live without that. It’s fricking awesome it’s read in 15 20 seconds
Nice video, thanks. I also have the Gerber center drive but paid less than $100 bucks for it a couple years ago. I'm building my house and plan to have a work shop so good stuff to know on things to get. I really like the remote control thingy. Gotta remember the filter behind the fan!!!
Did you get the Plus model?
I bought that same welder a couple years ago. The computer screen feature was an option then. Even I have been able to figure it out, but my son does a better job welding! I felt like I paid plenty for it, 15-1600, but it does work well. I wonder what the problem is with the HF welders. They are cheaper!
so the furnace filter goes on the input side of the fan so the dust is not pulled past the vanes of the fan.
yes. just like in a residential furnace
Love the channel. Filter on fan is backwards 😂
was just gonna say am i the only one to notice that lol
I notice the backwards filter and was going to ask, probably a reason, maybe easier to clean
The fan is blowing into the filter. It's not backwards.
@@jonholtry6143 might have to put on your reading glasses sir😂
Probably lol
The sander that hooks up to the shop vac that you use has saved me so much dust ache! That is probably the best “tool” I have been suggested from your channel! Keep it up and happy new year
Ermergurt Handyman... don't you know that the aluminum oxide on the outside of that can will mar your tablesaw surface?!? Lmao
I love this video! Hell, half of why I watch these is making sure I'm not missing something to do when I build out the next shop.
The mechanical pencils ARE a finish carpenters best friend!
I’ve had the opportunity to up the mp 210 for job. Works awesome never a complaint. The only one that top the mp 210 is the multimatic 220. Looked it up and the price point is a little higher but it really is an all in one machine. Just less equipment for us to carry on the job.
Ron Paulk viewtainer storage is a neat solution for tool trailer.
especially for lots of small parts that need to fit in a small space
Great video, all around great information. Don't have any experience with welders but will be interested in seeing what you end up with.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info!
Workshop is toasty warm bro👍🏻 set up a hammock and a few brews👍🏻
I sure enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
It's nice to know so many of the tools and things I've figured out over the years are validated by a thoughtful guy like you
Look into Everlast welders.
Thanks for the tip I will check them out tomorrow.
Small storage idea....Akron mills. Tilt out bins. Wall mount. Different sizes. Can mount in trailer or shop.
Love them things.
I bought a bunch of the containers with the yellow movable dividers. I hate them because once a few washers or screws get under the divider you have to constantly fix the dividers. Just a hassle. If I had to do it again I would only get Fixed Space containers with varies size sections.
Can't wait to see some welding videos !!
So glad I've found your channel, thinking about starting a "Handyman" property maintenance business.
I'm a 30 year Electrician with some woodworking skills
Quality advice
Thanks for it all
For your workshop walls: A french cleat tool wall. Gets stuff off your tables, and gives a proper place for all your hand-held stuff.
Do a French Cleat wall I have had them in the past and when I get another shop I will be doing that. There is a lot of information on UA-cam about French Cleats and is well worth the research to see if it will be right for your shop and life.
The SSTC hints are starting to drive me crazy!
Also, learning more about whatever you do with solar sounds interesting.
What is SSTC anyway?
No seriously, what is SSTC?
How do I get thefreest caulking gun T in the whole universe? Size XL
He gives one away free, twice a month* with every 1,500 shirts you buy.
* Slightly worn.
I believe your filter is backwards on that fan. Arrow should face in to suction.
Oh man, I literally just went to Harbor Freight yesterday and bought the magnetic parts holder. Even though I actually went in to buy a pry bar...........
I got the omnipro 220 from harbor freight and I love it - had it for over a year and have put some serious miles on it without trouble.
So I'm retiring this summer and wanted to do some HM business. Been in construction 45 years and done the work and managed the work in big and small ways. Do you recommend going to an LLC? I don't want to do large work, mainly repairs and difficult repairs. Thoughts?
I have the remote outlet in my shop for the shop vac/dust collection. I have 2 more currently in use on outside Christmas lights.
You should offer master classes for handyman people!
He kinda already does ;)
Just noticed your air filter looks to be backwards on your fan, the air flow arrow is to be pointing the direction the air is flowing not where it is coming from.
Buy the ESAB rebel 215. It does what you are looking for, it is a quality welder, it is yellow and black and will look good with your DeWalt tools.
That plugger inner thingy looks like the old thing that hung off the back of old UHF TVS. History repeats itself
How would you remedy a home with aluminum wiring? I’ve been thinking alumiconn connectors but jeez there expensive
Any Miller will be a good machine!
@The Handyman Business
Get the Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC the last multi-purpose welder you will buy (until they come out with mig/tig/stick/and underwater multi-welder)
Check out the Fronius Transsteel 2200 multi process welder. It's a very capable machine that can run on 110v and 220v. Weighs about 30 pounds also.
Hobart handler 140. Runs on 120. No stick though. But flux wire and gas. Very nice.
