- How many Minecraft chests can I hide in this room? In today's Mumbo Jumbo Minecraft video, I build a hidden minecraft chest base. This hidden Minecraft base transforms a regular Minecraft build into a hidden Minecraft storage system. If you're looking for ways to hide your valuables in Minecraft, create secret storage systems, or have secret Minecraft chests, then you'll enjoy this video.

The goal was to hide as many chests as possible, and making an entrance/exit would have reduced the number.
YOU STAY IN THIS ROOM WITH YOUR SECRET STUFF FOREVER.

Hi mumbo!
Oli, are you ever planning on rejoining hermitcraft? O love the content!
Hooray, my riches :D
It’s always a good Mumbo video when he’s too busy with redstone to ask the question “how do I get in and out of this room”
@Don't Read Profile Picture ok
This was my thought too!!!
Oh yea I was too busy asking how he gets out of the floor to even notice he can't get out of the room
Immersive portals
Mumbo:
"Ahh, I'm pooped, I need more chests."
"Well, I will just live in this bunker"
"Ahh, well I am chuffed to bits""
(Not actual quotes)
I like how Mumbo spent a long time hiding chests in a room, but forgot to make a door into the room
The King of Doors forgot the door
Does the room count as a chest? Lmao
thx you i was thinking the same thing :D
shhh don't tell him
Lol that and how do you get back out of the bottom area once it’s opened up
I love that mumbos videos technically have no real point to em but in each and every video he still manages to convince me that all his videos have vital information that i must learn.
And I fall for it everytime
It's important science
You can actually learn a lot from them

I was going to say that @Misterman8998
If anyone was wondering, there are 345 chests hidden in this room. There are 168 double chests and 9 single chests. 40 double chests in the floor, 40 in 2 walls, 14 in the other 2, 20 in the ceiling outer ring, and 9 single chests in the inner ring.
Thank you, I was getting ready to have to count the myself lmfao.
Which means that you can hide 9 315 full shulkerboxes in those chests, which amounts to 251 505 stacks of items. Assuming each stack is the full 64 items, that's 16 096 320 items total. Ofc, if those stacks are stacks of iron blocks, that brings us to over 1.3 billion iron nuggets.
Oh my goodness that's a bunch
@@ferzmat2313 Now to go build an iron farm.
Are you sure there is nine in the inner ring? I could’ve sworn I counted 8…
Only Mumbo would do this amount of great redstone work and forget that the room needs a door.
um the entrance is missing
@@verethragna1525 that's what they said
You can't glitch yourself into any place you want using your mind?
Skill issue.
Also like, when the floor goes down u are trapped if u are in survival mode
Making a door would have reduced the amount of secrets that could fit, thus, you stay with your secrets forever.
I love that he designed this contraption himself for hours and is still overwhelmed and fascinated by it.
whats really nice is, while the whoel room together might be a bit silly, different parts are totally useable! I'm thinking about adding the floor or ceiling into my VH base
are there any beginner friendly tutorials on how to make that floor contraption? it looks awesome and I would love to have one

Love the fact that they're all hidden when you are inside the room. But when you are outside the house - they are very much not hidden and in fact the complete opposite. They're just sitting in a field
It's Schrodinger's Chest!
That's okay because the room doesn't have a door. Anybody the chests are hidden from can't go outside anyway. :D
If you imagine that the middle top block is a spot to use elytra to get in/out and imagine it is underground it still works
@@electra310 it is hidden redstome door ,lol

I love this. It's crazy to see how far Piston contraptions have come since slime/honey blocks were added.
I’m not a redstoner. I like collecting flowers, getting pets, building anything from cottages to castles, terraforming, and the occasional wither fight. So watching Mumbo make these things is like MAGIC.

@@sedrickmongwarr837 While it isn't his fault for taking a break for so long (since if you need a break, you need a break!), if he had come back while the other hermits were in Empires, they could have made the way they get back home to be Mumbo opening the rift from the hermit side of things. It would've been an interesting way to do it.
Edit to clarify: It's totally fine that he's not making hermitcraft content and the intent of this comment isnt to "shame" him (for lack of a better word), but just something that wouldve been a cool twist if its what the hermits did while still allowing mumbo to come back in a way that wouldnt be awkward
I wanna see this in Hermitcraft, but like 100 times bigger throughout the entire base. Then Mumbo invites someone over and is like, "oh, I forgot to get that out of my storage system! Agreed, Mumbo having fun makes for the best stuff.
I missed this content from Mumbo. As much as I love him on hermit craft, his redstone videos were my first introduction to him
For people that are still wondering how many chests there are?
Inside a floor = 40 double chests
On the roof = 20 double chests
Walls = 18*2 + 40*2 = 80 double chests
Total = 176 double chests or 352 normal chests
but are they... IN... the room?
I was looking for this comment 😂
actually 337 chests. the roof has 9 more single chests in the middle, and no walls have 18 double chests. One wall has 14 and another has 10.
I was looking to see who would've done the math for us, and you laid it out in a way that's easily verifiable, via breaking it up in to sections! Great work! 👍
Man that builds this must have a killer bamboo farm
Never leave this man in a room with lego technic.
Some guy: "you don't have any storage"
Mumbo Jumbo: * *FLICKS LEVER* *
One of the reasons I love underground bases so much is due to the freedom you have with redstone. Projects like this wouldn't require a huge exterior to hide all the redstone just to have a small interior because all the blocks and redstone is already hidden. I would love to see you build an underground base with redstone contraptions all over the place that can hide/open rooms and watch their confusion as a path they just went through has changed
you could use this in your hermitcraft vault to better hide your 12 bamboo
Another reason why every redstoner wants wireless redstone
So, a self-shifting maze base. That's actually ingenious.
@@CorrectMyGrammarPls not wireless redstonecuston circuit-board item. Placed it takes up 1x1-3x3 squere and behaves like a 10x10-30x30 pocket dimension with inputs/outputs at the sides. Normal redstone logic inside ofc
@@stixinst5791:
Actually, the use of skulk sensors would make possible a wireless transfer of redstone signal, relayed through as many sensors as you require.
If you waterlogged the sensor, it would muffle the telltale sound.
Meanwhile, a vertical (non-redstone) signal can travel an unlimited distance either up-or-down, by using a sticky piston to push a stone wall next to a vertical stack of stone wall blocks. All the blocks in the stack will alter their shape, which can be detected by an observer block, which then pulses in response. Multiple observers can be placed anywhere along the stack, as needed, to trigger multiple functions simultaneously.
This is the most unnecessarily complex secret storage room and I love it
Best honest intention by design created
6:37 I was wondering what you were doing with that stack of paper XD
Well, that's one way to keep Grian from having items "Lag" into his inventory from your storage.

Assuming that every chest placed is a double chest, there are 164 double chests placed. Excluding the one that is not hidden.
For a more detailed breakdown, 40 double chests in the floor, 40 chests in each of the first two walls that he worked on, then 24 more chests in the other two walls, and 20 chests in the roof.
Needless to say, I think you could just use this as your normal storage system.
Edit: It seems that I have missed 8 single chests in the middle of the roof, where there also my be an extra double chest. So if you convert everything to single chests(assuming you can still access all of them), you would have 336-377 single chests worth of storage.
Thanks so much!

Mumbo: How many hidden chests you want?
Me: about fiftee-
Mumbo: Yes
A lot of my server base is underground so I can definitely fit this in. I'd want to have three drop down walls and the drop down floor (connected separately), in a palace inspired room that looks barren, with only a couple chests in each corner with two separate key-card readers that seem to be trolling the entrant for finding the room for nothing.
Remember when we had to use trapped chests to put chests by each other? Modern Minecraft is so nice.
I just realized its MUCH funnier to hide secret things inside other peoples bases rather than your own.
that flying machine to remove the floor to show the hidden chests is also just a great way to make a sweet elevator
*8:10* _''Yeah I like hiding stuff what can I say, I'm like a Golden Retriever or something.''_
Absolutely hilarious quotes with Mumbo.
I love watching Mumbo's redstone videos because they include the process of how he gets them working (or not working, sometimes). It's always easier to learn if you get to see the "Why" behind each step.
Its always up to mumbo to ask the real questions in life
I'm sure no one will question the redstone monstrosity on the OUTSIDE of the room...
Ignore that.
The few amount of chests that are shown without the secret chests makes the secret chests more secret as any person who goes in and sees that this person doesn’t like chests much thinks that they won’t be hiding any chests. ITS GENIUS!
Heck, those "Down, Back, Down" walls would be amazing, even just for an entrance into another room! Another awesome video my main man Mumbo!

A problem is the floor not having a way up while retracted, so you need it to retract with a staircase left to access the rest of the room. All I can imagine for this specific room is a spiral staircase within. Now I really want to see a hidden spiral staircase and am tempted to make one myself because while I'm not big on redstone since I mainly play bedrock edition, it is still really cool to mess around with.

For this to actually serve a purpose. You need stairs to come out so you can go back up and access the other chests.
Watching you make stuff with redstone really makes me want to play again. My mind is full of ideas now
I can't thank you enough for the redstone knowledge and ideas. As a Bedrock player I can't use flying machine doors but still was able to make a flat 7x7 piston door. I build things that I just 3 years ago didn't think possible, and I just have to say it's because of you. Your videos are perfect!
You can make a flying machine in BE. I once made an elevator in Pocket Edition.
@@Mateo-zi8ub But sticky pistons don't spit blocks when a 1 tick pulse is input. A Bedrock flying machine needs a normal piston or the 2 halves will repeat in both directions randomly. Then you can't make it a 2 way door. So it opens OR closes. Not both. And that is why I like Java, but my PS3 is way back in 1.13.
@@Human..Being... You need two pairs of sticky-normal pistons, with two observers powering them. Wen you want to go in one direction, the observers must power one normal and one sticky piston. When you want to change direction, you need to move the observers so the one that was powering the normal piston is now powering the siticky one and vice-versa.
When moving the observers, you need to move them in the correct order so the machine does not break.
