I hope this tutorial helps some people setup their Tango 2's. This walkthrough shows how to install firmware updates for Team Blacksheep Tango 2 and ETHiX Mambo for both FreedomTX and for the Crossfire MicroTX.
I'm updating to FW 6.10 which has the new Mixer Bypass that shaves another ms off the latency for internal radios (Crossfire for Tango2 and Tracer for TBS Mambo).

Thank you. I bricked my Tango 2 after the firmware update stalled. This information enabled me to complete the firmware update and un-brick my Tango 2.
Agent M fixes all the issues, has all the same features. TBS has a desktop version of Agent M coming too, but I just use the web-based version, it's 100% reliable and i've flashed about 30 times with it

I highly recommend Agent M instead of X. I've documented a bug in AgentX that causes this freeze on a 2nd fw update.

Thank you so much for this video! I learned a few things: 1) You have to keep pressing the bootloader button until it jumps into bootloader mode. This can take a while (approx. 10 seconds for me) 2) Patience when updating the XF firmware. The verify step can take a while and repeat a few times. I thought there was a problem and unplugged the USB which bricked my controller 3) Agent X doesn't always work for updating Tango II firmware. Tried to update to v1.33 and it doesn't even go to 1%; it just sits there spinning. Will try Agent M.
Yep, known bug in AgentX causes it to hang, use Agent M

Trappy swears you dont have to...says just update, and then tap the bind button on the TX, but in my experience, that doesnt work, so i preemptively reset them to avoid having to mash the button later

my tango 2 didnt turn on all of a sudden so i tried your unbrick method but i get stuck at restarting device
the screen on the rc stays black no lights or anything

Does the led blink sometimes when you push the power button? If so use the bootloader method again, be sure to get both sides of the radio CrossfireTX and FreedomTX, using the 2 different bootloader buttons. If you get no lights on the tango 2, the battery may have been overdischarged, and you'll need to unplug the internal battery to jump it off with another 1S lipo

hey man Im Josh ...ive got this issue where i go into that crossfire menu and nothing is listed... all i can see is (waiting for crossfire de)then it cuts off on the screen...reloaded all firmware via tbs website with help from tbs but it still wont allow for things to get to the binding screen... i am so lost
Hey, sorry missed this, but it sounds like your LUA scripts are broken. Just redownload the Agent Lite scripts from TBS and put them on your SD card in the Scripts folder 👍

i put in ticket with tbs they responded said it something wrong with my usb"s or computer i just flashed a complete ELRS system so nothing wrong with usb or computer then they said its where i live never had a problem here in the us it just shows plug in usb device i hear the ding and nothing i t shows nothing online and dont give me the option to check box for beta firmware
I'd probably guess it's a USB issue too, make sure youve rebooted the PC, try another cable, etc. If that doesnt work, try going into bootloader mode (BL uses a different driver) also be sure when you plugninto usb that you select "agent X" on the tango. I know it's been more than a week, but if you need help, shoot me a DM on instagram @FlyHighFPV
When connecting my tango i only get the option joystick so no hid agent what to do ?

Hello, i update my radio and it stuck during update, via agent x, now My tango bricked, cant switch on, no led. I try this bootloader but it stuck at restart step. I also re plug-in battery , SD card, still not working. Just via agent m i not trying, can agent m use bootloader like agent x?
Yes, use Agent M and the bootloader, to flash properly, Agent X has a bug right nowm
Use the same instructions here for restoring, with Agent M. I also have a newer Agent M video (but it doesnt brick👍)

I’ve used so much time on the tbs tango 2. First when I got it I searched a video on UA-cam what to do when open first time. They told me to update it and then I did and I haven’t even tried the tango 2 cause nothing is working, i can bind to drones but in beta flight it goes crazy and when I turn on the tango 2 the welcome sound is laggy + it always says signal critical even when drone is 10 cm from tango ….

Agent M , X should be dead, but they are about to issue a replacement, a desktop version of Agent M, that will kill off X forever. I've got a newer walkthrough using Agent M too

thank you for the video. but i ran into another problem, i now have my XF updated but when i connect my tango 2 via usb i dont have the option of selecting the USB HID, no matter what i do and i stuck on the step here, but the tango is show in the computer, what can i do, thanks
You can change it back to automatic prompts on usb connection, in the menu
Hi there, thank you for the valuable information. By any chance, how would you fix a tango 2 (6.13) on which telemetry logging (SDLogs) has stopped working (no csv files are created in the LOG folder)?
Not positive, but i'd def start by using Agent M to upgrade to 6.14. It's possible your SD card needs to be reformatted and clean sd contents installed, or the card replaced entirely...but the FW update is easiest and most likely 👍

Hey can you help me out with my tango 2: I am using it on my baby hawk 2 and my whoop. I just got the mark 5 and after binding it and arming it i get a weird problem; the i just nudge the throttle up and down it work fine but when i add more throttle the motors spool up very fast and when i try to bring the throttle down it doesn't slow it down. I'm forced to turn it off. And the weird thing is that it affected my other two drones in the same way, i tried to rebinding them , updating the tbs agent and copy to items to Script/tools when updating the sd card on tango 2. What the hell is wrong ? Very coincidental that this happened after binding to the new quad. What should i Do?
If your props are off, there is no load on the motors, so it is "normal" but terrifying when the motors spool up, but not down, and you have to disarm. If that's happening when you have props on, you have a fly away situation. That's usually caused by bad esc settings or a bad gyro on the FC. You can confirm if it's related to the tsngo 2 by going to betaflight receiver tab and check the inputs are doing what's expected
Do i also need to update FreedomTX to make the new Xfire Firmware 6.10 make to work? Because its not working for me. My right stick is going crazy after the update to 6.10 even after calibration.
Yes, update both, 6.10 and 1.31. Try doing calibration again with a feather touch after you finish updating

EDIT: Ok, its not working with my Xfire Micro Module on the Taranis because the TBS Agent Lite LUA Script does not include that Bypass function. I hope they will update this also.
@@MrSmithFPV the mixer bypass only works for internal radios, the Tango2 and the Mambo. I made a custom sound pack, it started with OpenTX Amber's sexy voice, add a dash of the HAL-9000 from Kubrick's Space Odyssey, and some other random clips
@@Fly_High_FPV That means they will not bring it out for the crossfire modules? If thats true than iam not able to use the multibind feature because the start und endpoints are not correct on my taranis after setting these in betaflight CLI...
@@MrSmithFPV i think you're misunderstanding. You can update all your crossfire modules with Agent X or Agent M, but FreedomTX is only for TBS radios. If you're running a Taranis, Radiomaster, or whaterver, you'll need to get updates for OpenTX or EdgeTX

Any idea of how to update the tango 2 that isn't recognized by the computer? I'm on 6.07 which apparently does something to USB because you showed 6.08 had a fix for USB consistency. When I plug in nothing happens won't go bootloader or anything. Tried different cables and computer. Do you know if you can update via wifi? I filed support ticket with a video and haven't had a response yet.

there is something wrong with agent x 3.0.51 since i updated nothing shows online i tryed everything tbs told me and still nothing they said it was something wrong with my computer so i set up a complete ELRS system right after they said that had my computer checked everything running normal so its something on there end been trying back and forth all week and still no fix

@@RubyS.1 it does chime just nothing happens all my tbs gear shows offline no green dot in box it says plug usb in and i do and i get the chime just no response from tango 2 or nano tx
@@ThaReilDeal you try agent m configurator online? You tried bootloader like in the video? Mine didnt even chime anymore I put 6.07 on it and it bricked the USB TBS sending me a new board when they come into stock.
Did you notice any diff when flying?
This update alone wont activate the bypass. You still have to turn it on in Agent Lite.i honestly can not feel 1ms of latency difference. Crossfire is 7ms-14ms with the mixer, down to 6ms with the bypass. Can i feel it? No. Do I enjoy that it's consistently always faster, yes. Do I need to use the mixer on a drone, no. So i'll take the consistent gains 👍

Would you happen to know how I can unbrick the TBS Mambo? I just got it and was working then went a do a firmware update and it bricked. I tired both Agent X and M in bootloader mode, but nothing seems to work.
Is the agent detecting the radio and showing the bootloader flag to let you know you're in bootloader mode?
@@Fly_High_FPV Yes it is, in both Agent X and M. I use the latest release and when the agent restarts the unit it doesn't power back up. When I try to power up the radio, I get 3 quick flashes on the display. Any attempt to power up afterwards does nothing, black display on radio.

@@FlyturboKwad you might need to replace your SD card, redownload the sd card contents, and then redo the firmware update with Agent M

I gave up on this TBS crap, spend more time trying to update/bind with this POS stuff.
I'm happy to help if you are stuck...there update process is easier than OpenTX...and they provide real feature improvements (like the mixer bypass in this update)
I appreciate the offer. To me, if I have to ask for help, then its already not worth it. When ever there is an update, the processes of binding TX to RX is never a smooth process. I am ditching TBS, Ill probably just use DJI system for TX/RX since I am already using DJI VTX. For my LOS drones, I am going all in on Radiomaster TX16S and its receivers.
@@srqTagle if you want simplicity over function, that's def the way to go 👍 I really appreciate the complete programmability of OpenTX/FreedomTX/EdgeTX, the lower latency provided by crossfire, and the ridiculous range and penetration, so i dont failsafe. I moved off 2.4Ghz a long time ago, and I dont see myself ever going back...i just need the freedom to go anywhere 🙌
