I totally appreciate your hard work and these tutorials. My Tango 2 was shipped with everything wrong. Biggest problem was the gimbals, too much *grease* and calibration errors. Could not get it perfect until I took it apart and did some spring cleaning. Only then, was it perfect. My BetaFPV Lite Radio3 and Zorro were perfect with gimbal calibration. All others needed help. Then it was shipped 868 or whatever! Changed that too...(even though at close range there was not difference). But step outside of that range, my FRSKY was better or the same. But was it? The antenna looked attached, but not really....just silly how that was my fault for not checking when it was taken apart. But again, No buyers remorse. The gimbals feel really good, the binding was easy and the less is more approach is nice. I also had not a clue about *dynamic power* and some of the other functions. Ohhh, under settings called "Op Mode" , it was on *Forced Tele*...so I switched that too. Now in binds up/makes connection real fast. Not sure why, but everything seems better too.
Yeah my Op mode was also on force telemetry which I think makes it run at 5hz packet rate which is basically unflyable on a multirotor. Almost lost my quad over a mountain as a result. Doh!
There is also an option in crossfire to control the max. dynamic output by a switch, i use it to prevent the module from going to 2W when there's no rx plugged in.
@@twinturbostang depends on what output levels are used, i have set it to 250/1000/2000mw, but yes if the lowest one is 10mw then you might want to put some logic with an arm switch in there.
Great refresher course on crossfire. Made me realize I haven’t updated in a while am I’m behind. Lol. I hope to see you do an updated video on the ghost system soon. @JoshuaBardwell
I have noticed with binding out of the box is that my nano and sixty9 were shipped in 868 and I would have to temporarily set my Tx to 868 then it would bind and I could set it back to 915
Cant figure out the connection now. Starting to think my cross fire rx is bad. Doing this wierd thing where the rx is green like its paired. (And it sort of is). But my tx shows like a yellowish light. Which it should be green (meaning binded) and I dont know why its yellow. When i push the button on the tx. The tx goes into the green blinking mode. Which is pairing. It also makes my rx red (not bound anymore) Soon as i stop binding mode on tx. It turns back to the yellowish on tx but rx is now green like if it was connected
So after I dragged the files over to my RM TX16s SD card I can no longer get the long hold scroll wheel menu to show up. Long holding the scroll wheel does nothing now. What happened?
I really appreciate all the help through your videos which are super informative and helpful so far! Anyway my crossfire Rx and Tx seem to be faulty or unable to bind. Rx shows a solid green light (FC solid red) and pressing binding buttons doesn't get me into binding mode at all. Tried everything I found in the web and followed manuals RX TX versions are the same but still don't know what to do now. If anyone has a lead where to start troubleshooting I would more than appreciate it.

In the last video you recommended staying on 8 Channels. Do you meanwhile know the "disadvantages" when switching to 12 Channels as you know recommend to use all 12 Channels now?
Yes finally the answer has been revealed, and it turns out it was what I guessed all along. When you switch from 8ch to 12ch mode, the aux channels are polled at 1/2 the rate. So 25 Hz or 125 Hz. Instead of sending ch. 4-8 in every packet, it alternates between 4-8 and 9-12. So if you were using the channels to drive servos, the update rate might be unacceptable, but if you are simply using them as aux channels with a multirotor, it's fine.

Great channel and great work at all! Thank you! I just updated my crossfire micro TX to 6.19 which says it reenable the CRSF V3 protocol. But in my TX16S it still shows me CRSFshot. Could you explain me why? Is this right? Is V3 a kind of shot? And on the external module screen I could set the baudrate. Now its on 400k. Could I set this higher or is this the max. rate CRSF micro TX supports?

@leea4839 ah alright, thank you for replying! I actually ended up updating my qx7s to the lastest openTX x.x.15 and then it finally worked with the crossfire nano TX module with 6.36 firmware. Both my nano receivers also bound and updated fine. I see they have "edgeTX" for radios now, but I didn't feel like risking it switching over.
Thanks @JoshuaBardwell. My crossfire telemetry is giving me big headaches. Rxbt is continously jumping from the actual battery voltage to 100% voltage, messing up the battery alerts on my radio which require 4s or more below 3.6V per cell to activate. Similarly I have continous drops of the signal and RSSI and all connected values go to minimum for a fraction of a second. I did weeks of troubleshooting, including buying a new radio (good excuse, lol), testing 2 different drones with the same TBS Nano RX module (same result), changing frequency, power, RF profile etc... Is there anything else I can try? PS Note that my drones were purchased 3y ago with Betaflight 4.1 and I now updated to 4.4 with some trouble in setting them up again...
Yes, on both receiver and transmitter. It’s very strange, really. I did lots of research online but could not find anyone with the same issues. It looks like a continuous interference causing this, but I would understand that being an explanation for the signal drop, but battery at 100% really doesn’t make any sense
I had to update from 4.03 because of a new v3 RX i got low rsssi and found the rx jumps to 0w pwr after power cycle i use the channel 12 for Rssi/lq .. so my problem is the rx dont save power output max pwr. i run dynamic set up. would be very thankful for your advice
I still remember the days when you and TBS wanted to "kill" each other. It's nice to see that you are friends know. Today I learned from you how to make friends with former enemies and I got a looong list... 🤣
Alright Josh? As soon as I plug a Lipo in, my quad starts beeping and doesnt stop. How do i get it to shut up? I've turned off usb tab under beeper configuration in Betaflight, but it's just constantly beeping as soon as it has power. It's well annoying as Im waiting for update/bind etc. Thanks.
So today I resurrected my X9D-plus flashed up to date firmware no problem. Flashed new TBS crossfire micro also no problem but when I open new model on my radio and try to set external RF to CRSF the radio simply blinks out and returns to the menu with out changing to crossfire. Tried different models and reflashing everything and searching but it doesn’t even seem to be a problem anyone else has had? Any help would be extremely appreciated.
@joshua bardwell hey Josh Hoping to get some helpful answers if your are willing, I just finished my 5 in tbs one and watched your vid on motors revving by them selves on the bench with out props, I understand that’s normal, but with mine with the props on when I try to fly it it gets of the ground at about 15 to 25 percent throttle then shoots straight into the air full throttle like a bat out of hell no control until I smack disarm and catch it, in receiver on bet flight it looks fine when I move gimbals and rotate drone. driving me nuts searching google so I thought I’d try to ask you. I have 1900 kv emax ecos skystars 55amp f405 hd2 stack fly sky a8s receiver and rush fpv race 2 vtx.thankyou josh so much look forward to a response love your vids man! Thankyou!!!

@Dinker Mcplinker Sounds like your filters slider may be set too high or low. A lot of noise getting to the gyro. Had this problem on a couple builds myself. I'd arm it, bump the throttle, and to the moon she goes. Adjusting the filters fixed it.
thanks once again!! @joshua bardwell which sd card file should the tango 2 pro have if its updated to all the latest public firmwares i keep getting a bad sd card content error on startup and wont bind to any rxs after even after reset.
I have a question for you, how long does it take to update these? Im stuck on 6.17 since I have gotten my micro. There has been 6.19 since atleast september when I first got mine. It seemingly fails each time going on 6.19. Bricks the module and its a whole hour process to get it back on 6.17 and working again. Half the time on 6.17 it fails to update. What am I doing wrong lol. Doesnt matter the pc I use, or web or desktop versions.
If the module refuses to update over USB, I think I would have to contact TBS support about that. It should only take perhaps 5 minutes to complete the flash. If the flash fails, bootloader mode should restore it in the same amount of time.
This shouldn't impact any prior crossfire binds, would it? EDIT: Do I need to run the .lua script, or leave it in the previous scipt folder? I followed your instruction on the Tango 2 and its still not there.
@Joshua Bardwell I'd like to ask you about 8vs12 channels before (2 years ago) you claimed that 8 channels is the better than 12 channels (because TBS said so without any reasonable explanation) and now 12 is OK? What has changed?
After updating the TX, the receiver should still be bound. If you power up the TX and put it into bind mode, then power up the RX, it should immediately say, "Update RX?" without needing to press the bind button.
@@antoineozaneaux6881 Depending on the version jump you have to rebind all recievers. Another comment mentioned the workaround to reset reciever first, so it will go into binding mode next time you power it up. Makes it a bit easier.

Did you uodate crossfire firmware on your module?
random but what do you hink would be the better option the mambo or the tango 2
Alright Josh?
As soon as I plug a Lipo in, my quad starts beeping and doesnt stop. How do i get it to shut up? I've turned off usb tab under beeper configuration in Betaflight, but it's just constantly beeping as soon as it has power. It's well annoying as Im waiting for update/bind etc. Thanks.
hey JB Im just wondering my rssi changed i looked into the sensors. Is it currently rfmd 2 and rsnr 80 tsnr 70 with rpm as a value ?
So today I resurrected my X9D-plus flashed up to date firmware no problem. Flashed new TBS crossfire micro also no problem but when I open new model on my radio and try to set external RF to CRSF the radio simply blinks out and returns to the menu with out changing to crossfire. Tried different models and reflashing everything and searching but it doesn’t even seem to be a problem anyone else has had? Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Whats the diffrence between the tbs nano and micro? I want long range and live in the EU
👍👍👍👍👍
Thankyou!!!
My guess is your motors are spinning the wrong direction. Assuming you are on Betaflight 4.3, go to the Motors tab and first run the Motor Order wizard, then run the Motor Direction wizard.
@@JoshuaBardwell thanks man ! Even if it takes of fine? It doesn’t flip around or anything it goes full throttle instantly. Flies straight as an arrow up till it hits the ceiling. I’m running a f405 55a skystars hd2 with a 3s lipo 2200mah 35c and 1900 kv motors. Your supposed to flash in blheli and then flash in beta flight right? Thanks man I appreciate it!
@Dinker Mcplinker Sounds like your filters slider may be set too high or low. A lot of noise getting to the gyro. Had this problem on a couple builds myself. I'd arm it, bump the throttle, and to the moon she goes. Adjusting the filters fixed it.
16:10 Of course I had to press FCC. How do I set it back to open? That option disappeared.
thanks once again!! @joshua bardwell which sd card file should the tango 2 pro have if its updated to all the latest public firmwares i keep getting a bad sd card content error on startup and wont bind to any rxs after even after reset.
Anyone know if TBS will be releasing the PRO version of Crossfire Diversity Nano RX with 500mw output power?
what baudrate should i chose on my edgetx remote? 400k? 921k?
400k is sufficient for Crossfire.
I would email him or ask on a live stream, this great question might never get seen.
If the module refuses to update over USB, I think I would have to contact TBS support about that. It should only take perhaps 5 minutes to complete the flash. If the flash fails, bootloader mode should restore it in the same amount of time.
@@JoshuaBardwell perfect thank you. maybe an issue with mine then.
👍🏻👍🏻
i need help, why my receiver not flashing any lights Thanks
Mombo, tsk tsk tsk :)
3:48 - 3:58
I find it hard keeping it all straight myself :)
Hi Josh, can I connect this to a spectrum or radiolink transmitter? Thanks
No I don't think so.
This shouldn't impact any prior crossfire binds, would it?
EDIT: Do I need to run the .lua script, or leave it in the previous scipt folder? I followed your instruction on the Tango 2 and its still not there.
Is it still possible to get the full tx
@Joshua Bardwell I'd like to ask you about 8vs12 channels before (2 years ago) you claimed that 8 channels is the better than 12 channels (because TBS said so without any reasonable explanation) and now 12 is OK? What has changed?
TBS revealed that the only difference is that in 12ch mode the aux channels are updated half as often.
Is there a way to update my crossfire TX without having to rebind and update all my receivers again?
if they are already bound , just update the TX and the RX will get the updates over the air . once you power up the quad
Is it possible to move Crossfire Tx V2 module between two radio transmitters? I have one TX module and want to move it back and forth between my Radiomaster TX16s and Jumper Pro and be able to fly the same quad without setting up all switches (arming ...) each time. Appreciate any help
Yes you can do it but you need to manually set up the switches on both controllers to be the same.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you very much for your kind assistance 👍🙏
I don’t have time for ELRS
IN YOUR UPINYUN WUT IS THE BEST PV DRONE FOR BAD FLYER
Before you recommended to use their latest firmware, including beta versions. Is that still the case ?
Yes.
I’m going back to crossfire. Elrs not binding after flashing go same passphrase is maddening. 3x battery is not solving the issue
Need to confirm they are on matching firmware versions 3.x to 3.x. If one is on 2.x it can't bind.
What module and receiver is it?
Great video on crossfire, I would like a video on ELRS just like this video. Nice job jb🔥🔥
Ok here is it's 😊 ua-cam.com/video/J3Hg2f7RL1A/v-deo.html
