- Been so hot lately and thought it'd be crazy not to take advantage of this glorious summer heat wave. Set out into the Dark forest and had no particular location in mind...All I knew was that I wanted to be along side a stream if possible to fully appreciate the sights and sounds deep within the Forest.

I agree Michael - when there with the nature it feels like we're back home. Literally our higher self picks up the connection again reminding us that the high electric places are not good for us. Hi Paul, yes my friend...Many of the answers are out there, today's approach to mental (and physical) well being is to shove so many cocktails of chemicals into our bodies. Sure some meds are vital to maintain good health, but surely not in the amounts that modern day man/ woman intake.

Thank you for what you do mate, I came here having already watched all of your videos, because I'm waiting for a cheque to clear then buying the frontline XL, DD underblanket, gear sling, magic carpet, inflatable mat, snake skin and Jura 2 haha so I'm watching how you use your gear. Anyway I came here for that and got mega relaxation because I forgot just how good you are at what you do. I've been filming my own stuff for a while now and your one of the channels I aspire to and also one of the people that got me into wild camping in the first place. You and Wiltshire man. Atb. Jonny.
Hi mate, wow thank you so very much for watching and your kind words....Hey DD do make great gear, the only thing I've ever had issues with from them is the underblanket. Really poor bungie cords badly sewn onto the underblanket, so poor the bungie cord is breaking up and the only thing holding the cordage to the underblanket is the fabric that it's coated with. Other than that issue yeah DD is great gear (I do show this issue in one of my vids)

Superb watch and listen Mike as always. Nature is indeed the antidote to most, if not all of life's woes. All that you say resonates with me. I have the original DD Frontline hammock which I love but will consider the XL if I ever upgrade. Great camp craft keeping things simple master Mike :)
Hi Paul, cheers mate! 👍🏻😊👍🏻It's in our blood mate, either it's in there or it is not so I believe. Ah cool the standard is a good hammock, but I noticed that the XL seems to get overlooked because people see the 'XL' and I believe they think the hammock is for larger folk. I think DD slipped up in calling it the XL and should have called it hooped frontline. Another reason for showing is to say I think it's a great hammock as I've used it for a few years now...I don't do reviews as such, just like to show what I think is really good hardwaring kit.

Haha !!! i work stupid shifts at Manchester airport so only get a full weekend off every 5 weeks or so.....watching vids like yours helps me through till i can get out..Keep up the good work buddy :-)

Yo Mike, another enjoyable time too late to venture to a new area, I didn't over night but great walking back watching the sun set.So the next day me and the family went to the area I had in mind previous day spot on.Also I found access to another site (I will be there next week..
You got any plans? Do you live near Cannock Chase? When I was a kid I live in Rugeley always out in the woods and the canals.

Yo Mike , I think you're right about Cannock chase we don't like those type of people( fire and beer cans just left on the floor.)
As you say you don't have to go far away to reset I've just the place like when the football was on(too noisy in the area BBQ) I through my hammock in my day pack off to the secret Spot..

Hi Gavin, yeah too many people crammed into the woods can make it a real pain...Have you noticed that some people are so used to noise and squabble that when they happen to get talked into going to the woods by someone, they shout and ball at the top of their lungs. That really gets me mad Lol!
I do exactly the same Gavin especially when football is rudely blasted into our lives from every angle. Everything about that money driven sport angers me. Great to hear you get away also mate...One thing I have found over the years is that no matter how secluded and well hidden our camp locations are they all eventually shall get found. Tbh i have quite a few places now and rotate between them as much as I can.

Great stuff as alway mate dnt know how but I remember watching this video and liking it but UA-cam seems to not be notifying me of videos going up from quit a few channels and also my likes on some videos seem to be disappearing aswell very strange good way of moving a large amount of fire wood mate and trusty old birch bark firelighting 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻s. Hi Paul, yeah I have noticed the same things with UA-cam also, especially liking a video then going back and seeing that the like is removed...Weird. UA-cam seems to me to favour channels.

I know work just gets in the way of life in general doesn't it lol. Hey I hope you do film your camp, but if you decide not to I fully understand as filming does take away some of the key factors of a good old chillout wild camp

Hi Rick, yes mate I'm really lucky to have the Forest nearby. Hahaha! yes i agree my good friend👍🏻 nothing beats just getting out there even if it's just a stroll round a woodland or even a local nature reserve. It's all good for mind body and spirit, or whatever you chose to call it.

Hi Martina, Hahah! Id only ever take Karen on camps where there's minimal chance of being caught, as you're aware over here true wild camping is forbidden in many many places. Of course unless you do permissioned land camping, and to me personally that's definately not wild camping. If I'm going to do permissioned camping then I may as well go to a caravan site, and there's definately no chance of that! lol. It's lovely to be able to have Karen with me and she shall be joining me very occasionally on a wild camp, but what I do is very much a solo thing...Something that I do to disconnect from the madness of today's unatural grind and to truly refresh it needs to be a thing of solitude. Karen is lovely and understands this, bless her.

Really enjoyable video mate, can definitely relate to a lot of what you said, getting out in the countryside amongst nature is good medicine, i liked the camera angles I did a similar walk through the ferns on a recent video myself, really enjoyed the piano music, I was looking for some royalty free piano music myself, it's hard to find and it really suited the video, UA-cam really helped me pull myself together when I wasn't well, your right you almost feel like your there at times, bit like this video really, glad to see you back out mike, all the best mate 👍
