I have been on the Estrogen shots, and Spiro for 9 months, and have only seen a few changes. Body hair has gotten lighter , and grows less frequently, and I have had some breast growth. (From none to about a decent A cup. But as far as fat distribution, I really haven't seen any difference. My head hair, has started to regrow, which is nice. I didn't start my transition until I was 63, so that may have some effect on how long the changes will take. Not sure, but... Anyway, I love your channel, and how open, and honest you are. It gives me hope, that one day, I will look, and feel, like I was meant to. I do plan on having the three major surgeries at some point. (Breast augmentation, facial feminization, and of course, reassignment. Hopefully, I can start, within the next year. Thank you for all you do, for us MTF gals!

Don't make the mistake of getting implants that are too large for your actual physique. A woman should not be defined by the size of her breasts. I never got implants. Never will. Small is cute and an uplift bra gives enough shape.

Hi Maya!!!! I started following your channel years back, I came out first around that time at 15-16. My family did not take it well and I've basically been shunned this whole time for wanting to "change" myself. I'm 21 now and I'm hoping to start transitioning soon because I'm not wanting to leave it too much later. My family still are unhappy to hear this but I need to do what I must to make myself happy. Thank you so much for making these videos, you amazing human

You’ve taught me so much. Although I have known trans people, I’ve not had conversations with them about the process or their transitions. I didn’t want to upset them by asking. Although I am non binary I do look female or AFAB, I’m queer, and I love all of my family in the lgbtq+. I’m sorry I never educated myself sooner, I didn’t feel biased against transgender folks, I just loved them as I did any of my friends. My friends Kat, Jackie, and Bethany, are going through their journeys and you’ve helped explain a lot of the medical journeys , or the science stuff. You’ve helped me learn, so I can also educate others better with more accurate information.

Hello from Germany! I'm only in my 8th week of HRT and can make no comparison, but a general rule here seems to be: blockers as pills and estradiol as dermal gel because it doesn't effect your liver that much. Both my medications seem to be standards for women with menopausal problems. My healthcare covers most of the costs, but the blockers are about 7 times pricier than the estradiol.

Hi Maya.... Great videos but I want to share my experience with everyone. I started my transition at the age of 49. It went really well and I had bottom surgery 1 1/2 years later. I used Estrogen patches and progesterone gel and then switched to ordinary birth control pills after 2 years. 2 pills per day equals 6mg of estrogen. I have never abused alcohol and never took drugs. Then I started getting incredible pain and was diagnosed with Pancreatitus. I've had 22 operations to date to try and control the pancreatic canal getting blocked and as of now I'm holding at 11 months since the last operation, to remove a stent and I have no pain. But it's been horrible for over 10 years. Why did this happen? Estrogen combined with high cholesterol causes both gallstones and calcification of the pancreatic canal. The doctors probably still think I'm an alcoholic but I haven't touched a drop for 9 years and don't miss the occasional drink I used to have. No true alcoholic can say that. It was the estrogen combined with a high cholesterol level. I stopped taking any hormones and have no side effects and I watch my cholestrol like a hawk. Touch wood I'll be ok. Watch out for that, please.

I really cannot get over how much more radiant and glowing you look now. You literally look like a new person, even from just a few months ago. Perhaps it is from the emotional release of having put the GRS behind you, or perhaps it is from the fact that your body is no longer in conflict with itself since you no longer have to take T-blockers to counteract the constant infusion of natural testosterone which is no longer poisoning your body. Whatever it is, I am very happy for you. I was worried that you might feel the pain you have to endure would not be worth the results, but I can see you are very pleased with the outcome. And that hairstyle is PERFECT! You look like a Raphaelite angel! ❤️

Hi Maya... if only I could have been born a millennial, my life would have been so different. In my time even being a homosexual was so hard that most of us remained in the closet, even to this day. Old fears die very hard. How I would have wanted to be a girl! I ached for it but there was no way to express that desire then and no sympathy for that feeling. I am so happy for you that you could become the woman you are and I hope and pray that other young boys and men who feel as I did can see now that all things are possible and it's all due to you and people like you. its like your comment is exactly what i think about alot about how i wish i did not grow up in such a hateful time period , i could never be myself , its so much easier now , i am amab , i always hated being a guy but i hid it very well , i had to , the past 5 years i finally go out dressed as a woman , i dont pass but dont care what others think im so freekin happy to just dress how i want and be my true self , i could never have done this back in the day growing up in the 70s and 80s especially living as ruff as i did and the amount of hate i would of received from every male around me woiuld of been to dangerous even tho i was very tuff myself because i had to be , i learned very young that if anyone ever found out i was gay well bi or correctly pan or wanted to be a girl i would be hated for my existence , i think about this alot because i feel something so special was stolen from me because of the hateful world time period i grew up in but i refuse to let it be stolen from me any longer ,
i still have a long way to go but im not scared anymore because things are so much easier now , plus im getting old and its like im to old to give a shit about hateful peoples opinions and deep down really want someone to start sum shit couse i aint the one to fuck with and plus my life the past 10 years finally has some stability for the first time in my life , but yeah i love my kids and if i was born now they would not exist because they are young and i would not give them up for anything but i would of been so happy to grow up now instead of then so i could of lived as my true self , fuck i remember being a little boy sneaking into my mothers closet playing with her clothes playing with her make up and being super careful to put everything back how i found it so she would never find out , i remember how i felt looking at myself in the mirror dressed pretty with my make up done i was so cute , kids today have it alot tuffer than we had tho for alotta other things tho , but yeah i think about this alot cause im angry about it that i really feel something very special was stolen from me

It doesn't seem to be widely known, so I'll leave that information here. For many people, estrogen alone is sufficient to reduce testosterone to average female levels. Blockers are often not actually needed! Also, combining estrogen with progesterone reduces the risk of endometriosis, so this is recommended.
2 years on HRT here, estrogen patches plus oral progesterone.

Lucy Anderson (First Trans Person to defend her Gender Identity in Court)
These are just a few Transpeople that I could think of off the top of my head.
Not to mention the countless amount of Stealth Trans People who have gone before. These people are some of the best, not bringing attention to themselves and proving that Trans people are just regular people.

All of your videos (and especially this) provide a great deal of grist for thought and discussion... Regarding your statement, that, "we give too little (attention) credit to the effect of hormones in our daily lives", (I am a "born male", appearing very male to the world, someone who has always held a strong identification to "female" and women ("dysphoria"), and as a "male", a strong attraction to women, am now much older than you, and will probably NOT experience "transition" or life as a visible "female" in this life, ALTHOUGH,) regarding your statement, I believe I do agree, feel that far too little time, thought, and energy has been given to discussion of this subject, since a great deal of, not only yours, but all of our experience does support the supposition that "our hormones", are possibly/probably the "determiners" of the many ways we are perceived by others, and is/are therefore "given too little attention". That those of you, who have made the decision to "transition" would be of the first to consciously understand the power of changes resulting from hormone treatments, is not a surprise and/but should be considered to be extremely important in all future discussions/considerations of human-behavior for any reason/on any level.
So, is it possible that among Trans-people, there is both a desire and hope to make the "change" and to "move-on", while there is, possibly, still, a great deal more of enormous importance to be explored and discussed, while culture and society discourages any such "deep" discussion/exploration of any such subjects that gnaw at present assumptions about who we think we are ? I am very interested in your thoughts, and believe you are very capable of this kind of questioning and exploration ! I do so appreciate all of your video and ability to share your valuable thoughts. love and Thank you, - Farley Andrews

I’ve been on HRT for 10 years now. My doctor in NY had me on the estradiol pills for the first 8 years with spiro and then my doctor in Finland switched me to the patches to reduce the risk to my liver/kidney function, reduced my spiro by 1/2 and prescribed Androcur as well. The Androcur has been great actually. It brought my testosterone down more and resulted in an extra 1/2 cup size growth in my breasts from an A+ to a full B. I wish I would have another growth spurt to a C cup, but we can all dream. I didn’t notice any difference in my mental or physical state by switching from estrogen pills to patches. But I’m glad my doctor switched me to the patches as I realized later that I have reduced kidney function as a result. Not severe, but there was definitely a negative impact.

Hi Maya! Definitely speak to your doctor, but I highly recommend shots! I take estradiol cypionate, it's a weekly shot in the leg. It bypasses your liver and achieves higher levels without the risk of blood clot. My doctor prefers ovulatory levels of estrogen, because she thinks it's good for feminziation. I don't take a blocker because of my estrogen.
I also microdose testosterone shots and I recommend them! I keep my testosterone above 30 ng/dl, but under 60. It's returned my libido to normal without causing masculinization. Definitely definitely ask ur doctor about them.

Some of your hormone experiences were very much the same as mine. I also took Spironolactone, didn't like them and switched to Cyproterone. I liked Cyproterone much better, it's also stronger so take less. I've read that more effective anti-androgen allows the Estrogen to give better breast growth, and think that was true for me when I switch from Spiro to Cyproterone could really take my energy away, sounds like you had a similar experience. You're right that emotional affects of hormones are talked about as much by doctors. I loved them. Used to cry once in 20 years. On Estrogen, at work one day, heard some wonderful news about a very sweet woman we all cared about. I had to run into an office, close the door and cried, I realized that I was crying from joy, about our friend's good news. I'd never experienced crying from joy before, and I get teary over a number of emotional things, but have never had the up and down "moody" problem that some women get.

There are 3 type of electrolysis. There is Thermopilios, galvanic and hybrid. Thermopilios is the common one out there and will hurt the collegen in your skin and kill it and will be you look older than you are. galvanic is less harsh on the skin as it is more of a chemical process and will not hurt the collegen to make you look older. The hybrid which is what I have been doing is a mix of the 2 so that way it does not hurt the collegen as much to make me look old.
