Leonard Cohen deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature. Anyone who knows his books and lyrics, discovers an overwhelming poetry that had never reached a US singer like Dylan.
Thank you Mr. Cohen, you have accompanied me since my youth, in the time of their first LP with "So long MaryAnn" and "Susanne" I met my first wife, I saw you in Berlin "I am your man" and they were so present on the stage, like a whole orchestra. Lover Lover Lover and "First we take Manhattan" remain anchored in the soul of the people as a soulful calm.
God give them eternal peace. Shalom.
Heinrich Weber…….I’ve loved both Cohen and Dylan for a lifetime too and see no need for comparisons or worse, to detract from Dylan’s immense contributions as a wordsmith of the highest order. As the previous commenter noted, both men had the utmost respect for each other’s work and I feel by comparing these wonderful artists, you reduce their entire life’s work to a pointless competition. Each man made vitally important contributions to both Music and Poetry and while I adore Leonard’s Poetry as well as his music, imo, few composed (Protest) songs against War, Racism and so on, better than Dylan. These songs remain relevant to this day. Dylan and Cohen were artistically very different, but I believe equally important.
Don’t you just love finding new items about the man, just as if this was always this was the way it was meant to be 🌹🌹🌹
Leonard Cohen is a Canadian music legend. He influenced many. Rest in peace Leonard Cohen.

Cohen is overrated.

You mean he was....He is now dead. Cohen would agree with you...and that is the difference. He had no ego. But as it so happens he was not overrated. He was one of the best songwriters in his time. You only have to google or youtube how many times his song Halleluja has been covered by other artists.
Well put Clay. He recognised his talent but never thought him self as the icon he was.
