This figure has a godly presence and feels like the ultimate anime villain in transformers form. He fits in perfectly in the aesthetic of transmetal 2, which means he looks perfect beside his minions. You may think some of his modes are anus, but it represents his complete domination of reality. He's a chad unit of a figure and he sits on the apex of reality. He's worthy centerpiece for any collection and he's a whole lot of fun too.
This is one of my fave toys ever made and the fact that Hasbro's cowardly G1 over reliance has stopped us from getting a modern version to go with TR Sixshot is a crime on the same level as the Energon cartoon.
Most underrated Megatron ever. I would love to see a an updated figure someday that's 10 or even 12 inches tall since he was actually supposed to be the same height as Omega Prime/God Fire Convoy in the show.
The color scheme for that version doesn't really do it for me, but I appreciate that someone took the time to make it. That's pretty much what I imagine Megatron would've looked like if Quickstrike didn't drop him in the lava.
I would love to see this figure re-released in the upcoming Legacy collection if it gets a second wave or maybe even in the Kingdom line if it ever gets another wave. The only flaw in the original is those ball joints in his dragon-heads, made it damned-near impossible for mine to stand up in robot mode.
Very glad to see one of my favourite childhood toys make its way here. Most of these transformations were way too much for my child brain to understand so I'm happy elephant mode is now something I know about.
So not only do you have a monkey shelf, but a bat one too! What other animal themed shelves are in you possession of that you have yet to show us? oh Gavin the mighty servant of the Great Repugnus!
I've got another fun mode for this guy that's better than the boat thing - I picked up a used RID Megatron a while back, and while showing the various forms off to my lovely mother, while going to the hand mode she asked if it was going to turn into a scorpion. I said "No..." but then I realized you probably could get a pretty convincing scorpion mode out of it if you tried hard enough, and sure enough it's definitely doable. So there's your bonus of the day, a new mode for RID Megatron invented by some guy in the UA-cam comments' mom.
I have the deathsaurus version of this from Botcon. One of my favorite figures in my collection. Such a blast with all the modes. Maybe I’ll get one of the other versions someday.
i found this guy in a thrift store, didn’t have the swords but he doesn’t really need them, more crucially all the chrome was intact, incredible condition. he’s also the only transformer i keep stored in robot mode, mostly owing to the fact that it keeps together the best and all the other modes are ropey as hell
I just like his dinky little arms. RID Megatron looks like the kind of cheeky wee bastard that would give you a hug/cuddle and then try to tickle you at the same time. What's he like, eh?
My favorite version of Predacon Megatron, in terms of design. His robot, two-headed dragon, and jet modes are definitely the big three, the rest I can do without. My only complaint is that the ball-joints in his robot feet/dragon heads makes him hard to stand up unless he's leaning against something.
I've never seen that Devil Ostrich mode. It's glorious. I had this back in the day and I honestly don't think I transformed it into half the modes. Just bat, dragon, robot and maybe the hand once. The others just seemed too much effort for not a lot of reward.
This is one of them figures I ignored when it came out cos early 20s me was too cool for these silly cartoony ones that weren't Alternators or G1 reissues or giants. Only serious realistic or very big Transformers for me back then. I was an idiot, gotta be said.
I started a Megatron collection late last year, and got this guy as a rare non-Generations toy in my collection; and he just absolutely shines! I don't care for all his naff alt-modes, but that bot mode is just 10/10, and I don't know anything about the character and the show. The gigatron version also looks great but I ran into the exact same problem when I looked to buy him a few weeks ago!
“He looks like a power rangers villain” so does beast machines blackaracnia and TLK megatron, you got a whole power rangers villain general team right there for your questionable fan-fiction
I JUST sold my Galvatron figure a week ago to a friend, and now I both regret it and feel I made the right decision at the same time, how is that possible?!
God I love that toy, but I do say I like the white galvatron better. Lucky me though the only version I own is the botcon 2016 megatron, he is fantastic
Recently found this channel looking for a brief video of Megatron as a funny purple hand. Now I've gone through about half of it... Great stuff. Not related to the video, really, but cuz you're an expert: would you name some cheap, easy-enough-to-find-online toys that score high on the fidgetability/tactility scale? I don't have much attachment to Transformers as an institution but they're neat & I could use a lil robot friend on my desk.
No bot should have that many Dragon modes. It's just taking advantage at this point. Multi formers always trying to put one over on me like I'm some kind of chump.
I have never seen the series either, but I kind of feel that a lot of those alt modes are redundant. I mean he changes into a jet, and changes into a 2-headed dragon, but then changes into a single-headed dragon that can fly. What for? just change into the duel headed dragon and fly like that. I also see no reason for him changing into a boat, when again he can fly and the elephant seems pointless. the ostrich seems pointless, even the car seems pointless to me. The most pointless one I have seen though is the hand. I mean that would be cool if it turned out he was literally Unicron's right hand or something, but I don't know about that.

I could only dream this lad showed up on Power Rangers.
Hasbro owns both franchises now never say never
@Star battle 2099 mmmmm.....no?
@Star battle 2099 they used to have the rights, but that was about 2 owners ago. its currently owned by Hasbro.
We can't exactly fault this guy for having a bunch of goofy modes when Optimal Optimus exists.
His tank mode doesn't look too bad, his aircraft mode however looks stupid as Hell and the silly color-scheme doesn't help.
@@realJoeMavro Superman flying but Superman has a jet helmet, that’s what the flight mode makes me think of

Counterpoint: The car mode looks like Blitzspear from Nemesis The Warlock, and deserves props for that.
OK, maybe not props plural. But like, _a_ prop
RiD01 Galvatron will always be at the top of my Need List
RiD Megatron's worst mode is 100 times better than Quickswitch's best mode, fight me.
Nah
@@TRDQ Ight, have a nice day

I had the white one as a kid but he was missing his ears, the swords, the elephant trunk, and the dragon ears. Gotta love garage sales.
I own this in the Botcon BW Megatron deco, which is absolutely sublime. Just needed to be said.
The color scheme for that version doesn't really do it for me, but I appreciate that someone took the time to make it. That's pretty much what I imagine Megatron would've looked like if Quickstrike didn't drop him in the lava.
I really wish they would release a Master Piece version of this. It would be all sorts of crazy, but this toy deserved an updated and larger version.

Awesome review and great timing given its the 20th anniversary year of RID this year. Also, thats a lot of bats. Nice!
So not only do you have a monkey shelf, but a bat one too!

One of the funnest toys ever made.

Definitely one of the most unique transformers to come out
I like to imagine there is one person that has 11 of this guy and has him displayed in every mode

What would you do if get a transformer that transforms into a monkey and a bat?, In what shelf he would go to?
Luckily they're really close so he could STRIDE THE LINE
Car robots was the series which started the whole repaint power up stuff
Best Megatron toy hands down.
That is the best disclaimer before a video I’ve ever seen
Mind if I steal it for day-to-day conversations?

I got this toy for a birthday and I still have now. I only ever knew the 5 modes I had no idea that there was 10!

Can't even remember what all his modes are let alone how to get to them without the instructions. You madlad
The griffin mode reminds me of skylynx if he was a decepticon

Speaking of RID 2001 could you please review Sky Byte?

Monkey Shelf, Bat Shelf, keep that up and you’ll run out of shelves!
Recently got this feller for somewhat cheap, I'm really happy with him! He's awesome!!
Megatron: Yesssss...
A transformer that has 5 flight modes

My personally faves are the flying dragon, griffin, and ostrich modes. Though, I admin, they're not the best looks for Megatron's name.
Are our WORLDS in danger
They sure are!
I got this guy just so i could have him hold g1 megs in gun mode...
i bought this thing at a video game store on discount and i love his complete lack of giving a shit.
Have the Japanese Destronger MIB..one of my favorites...and looks awesome with my BW Transmetal figures..
im so happy i bought one of these yesterday
A great figure that is maybe half the size it should be compared to God Fire Convoy.
BEST. INTRO. EVER.
I just bought this guy 2 days ago
I have this one and it’s incomplete and that sucks.

Can RID megatron pull a middle finger in hand mode?
Yes he can, and ive used mine to do so!

Megatron terrorize.
The most convincing mode was boat, why would you turn into a silly dragon?
"Looks like a power rangers villain" like he isn't lmao
How did you connect the hand to omega prime? I'm in an argument and wanna know so I can win
