I've had this guy for a while and, while I can't even begin to understand how it works fully, I ADORE this thing's vibe. I think the count on "official" modes is 11, since they even added a mode after the fact, but I could be remembering wrong.
Honestly beside the official modes, this Megatron/Galvatron/Devil Gigatron mold had a near unlimited amount of possibilities for transformations, which is what made it so interesting.
There is something uniquely terrifying about the concept of a giant metal god's hand the size of a building silently floating through a city hassling citizens
What makes this guy special is that he is one of the few RID characters to make it in the IDW universe (RID Optimus made a ''blink and you will miss it'' cameo in a panel of Sins of the Wreckers comic) but going with his Japanese name instead, which I found to be rather clever. I hope we get to see him make a return in the current IDW story as either a cameo appearance or in a proper appearance like he did in Empire of Stone.
Ah yes Incubus Megatron, one of the most underrated Megatron's IMO. 22 years later and both the toy and character design still hold up. I have the Japanese version of this, Devil Gigatron and the US Galvatron repaint and It's my favorite none MP Transformer in my collection.
I want to see the hand mode holding G1 Megatron in gun mode. I love how this Megatron looks like a Godzilla villain. Found some of these old figures at a local comic shop. Very fun and unique.
I haven't seen this mentioned: Just as an example of how intentional the Hand Mode really is, there's some special engineering just for that mode that you missed. When he is in hand mode, if you hold him by the root of the thumb/tail, you can flip the crotch plate down and pull it like a trigger, and it activates gearing that flexes the fingers to make them grab. Check it out!
I recently got two copies of this guy secondhand for cheap, because both were missing pieces. However, between the two of them, I now have a complete one including the weapons! He looks so damn cool.
@@Jcc2224 I don't think it was intentional, but it was something I discovered goofing around with the larger figures I have. If you fold in Unicron's hand there are pegs just under the wrist that can directly attach to the peg on the back of the claw. Because of the weight however, Unicron will topple over unless you have his arm extended in an upward position (like he's reaching up) with his legs positioned properly. Also, FOC Shockwave can be transformed & attached to the "elephant" mode to fill in the back.
YES! bizarro! but great! especially the hand mode! I kept putting getting it back in 2001- I think him and Skybyte were the last from that series I bought- weird! great channel 👏 👏👏
I don't think I even knew it was Megs when I bought this one... The color scheme and a reality bending 6 changer? My child mind was blown, my child wallet massacred and I could've cared less
What Transformers "used to be" means that they were toys, designed for children to play with. The materials and engineering were designed to be stress tested for actual "play" use. Similar to how Nintendo stress tested the original DMG-01 Gameboy and it's form factor. Modern Transformer toys are now designed for "adults" to play with. Which means that they are display pieces with more points of articulation than most action figure lines. Due to this shift in engineering, materials are now greatly reduced (hallow limbs/parts) to minimize cost. This means, that most modern Transformer toys would fail under practical stress tests among children. Even modern Transformer toy lines that are directly marketed to children and engineered with the least number of steps will also fail, due to cost cutting measures and even less plastic. Hasbro's main focus is marketing and selling to Gen-Xers and Millennials, as they have disposable incomes and are more likely to succumb to FOMO, as seen with Transformer's secondary market.
Hasbro doesn't understand their audience. As they try to appeal to both incredibly young children and collectors. Most of them really aren't that good looking and depending on the toy some still aren't that posable but no kid is going to get many of them at the prices they have started charging post POTP. So they are just stuck in the middle ground where they aren't that great for either besides a few stand out ones

I think he just needs only one Transformation and that’s the Leader class Dragster mode

i wonder if someone gets enough of these they could make a huge human sized megatron combiner that could dual wield megatron
🤣🤣🤣
That actually happened, watch Lumaken Studio’s video “Megatron vs Megatron vs Megatron” you will see him hold g1 Megs
I like this Megatron and Galvatron transformation

One my favorite Megatron figure. So much articulation and different modes!

The "claw" mode can attach to any Armada or Energon Unicron to give Unicron extra "reach" & menace. I wish i could post a pic...
IT CAN?! Is that like, an intended feature or just something you can do for fun?

This is like how g2 Dreadwing can combine with Armada Megatron
he can turn into, and not limited to: a dragon. a hand, and som much more!
also, good job on making sense of everything.
also, master hand much?
Ah yes. Megaton as a yu-gi-oh card
Anyone else hoping for a 3rd party high-end version of this guy?
Content wise, this is a great video; but your child-like joy & enthusiasm make it fantastic!
I like this one. The robot mode looks really cool
Titan return six shot was this meg's back then in transformation confusion
My parents bought me this figure when I was little. I didn't even know what Transformers was then. I just thought it looked cool.
Literally one of the best molds ever. I have 4 of these , 2 are Galvatron. I hope you have his swords.
He's a pretty boi he demands your affection through looks only and then performs twice as well
Such an awesome design. It appeared in the Drift series. Very cool.

Sure he's weird but call me crazy but I like it :D
His Griffin,Dragon,Mammoth,Jet, and Car modes are my fave lol.
There's a gimmick on the backside of hand mode, could make the hand doing a grip
Found one of these without a tail at a flea market once
I don't think I even knew it was Megs when I bought this one... The color scheme and a reality bending 6 changer? My child mind was blown, my child wallet massacred and I could've cared less

Razor crest review incoming 👀👀
Good vid man
Happy valentine's day 😊
I highly recommend ultra magnus so that you can make omega prime. And it is just an overall very good figure.
