Book 1, #12 (prelude & fugue): conceptually very, very difficult. Thinking-person’s performance given here. Understands the music at a core level. Very rare.
I think that right now you are my favorite interpreter of Bach on the piano! What a joy it is to hear you play. I love the more up tempo pace of the fugue; I think it enhances the lighter, more hopeful dimension of this piece without in any way sacrificing the pathos and depth of the motif. Best wishes!
Spending time on the mountain-tops with miraculous Marta is always very special. And she takes us up there with such natural grace, without apparent effort, like a dove.
This fugue is to me like a profound novel. If regular two-part counterpoint is a conversation, this is peering into the mind of a great soul, or a philosopher. All the possible conversations at once, all the emotions and all the reasoning laid bare. To me it is overwhelming, it is in despair. In that sense, this interpretation sounds elucidating, somehow scientific. It makes me think there is still a proper place for emotion in a clear and sound mind. I don't understand how you ever got there from modern life, impatient and riddled with anxiety as it is. Bach is such a teacher!
I've always played this prelude with the right hand as legato as possible, but her frequently staccato rendition is effective here, as indeed throughout her recordings of Bach and Beethoven. Glenn Gould would give her his blessing, I imagine, if she could just add a bit of humming.
i try to listen/view Mrs Czech's performances each day since they came to my attention earlier this year. Her poise and style of playing are a breath of fresh air. Her memory is amazing.
To be frank I prefer any transcription, especially of the organ works, to the "well tempered clavier" or other clavichord/harspichord pieces of JSB however well they are played. The latter were written for an instrument with a paltry 3-octave compass and virtually no expressive range -- for me a good cure for insomnia. The organ works are on a different planet altogether regarding expression and sonority and that is totally recognizable in the writing. Example: Bach-Busoni E flat major prelude and triple fugue (BWV 552).
One of the things I look forward to in life is listening to you.
The use of staccato in the fugue is so, so good!
Not so much so in the prelude
BRAVA. Grazie
No words can express the beauty of your Bach interpretation. Thank you. Thank you.
Veramente eccezionale!!!!❤❤
Meravigliosa concentrazione e memoria.❤

De gustibus non est disputandum
@@helenabrzoza3445 How very erudite.
Sicherlich toll gespielt, aber der Hang zum Staccato ist für meinen Geschmack gewöhnungsbedürftig....
Ich würde das nicht als Staccato bezeichnen, sondern als klare Artikulation.
