That's why you don't convert to Islam with knowing nothing about it and telling your husband to be that you will wear the hijab and the conservative clothing. Then change your mind thinking that this family will change for you. She was already there for 2 months and ran home. She should have stayed home. And she's not a girl. She's 38. She wants to act like a little immature doll victim.

He doesn't have total control. It goes both ways. If you don't share the same values and culture and can't come to a mutually beneficial compromise, you shouldn't be together. Intolerance of other's religion and/or different cultural values is literally the same thing as having an intolerant religion or culture.

If, as an American, she is used to meeting & socializing with spouse’s friends, she is used to dressing as she wishes, she is used to having an opinion and being heard, she is used to “being allowed” in all restaurants, she is used to having her own friends and going out with them, why on God’s Green Earth, would she even consider living in Egypt for two seconds? No woman in their right mind, would choose to give up having a life for this……….I don’t get it.

Nicole cracks me up. She's clearly "not like other girls". She's just so different, she gave up her normal American woman life to move to Egypt to live a different life with her Muslim man. She then proceeds to endlessly fight for the right to act like a normal American woman in Egypt... I wish shed stop trying to be different and instead find happiness and confidence in herself. I get the vibe that the real Nicole is a cool person.

I was doing some work with a Muslim community in my country and I got interested in Islam. I knew 2 Imams from both communities that we have in my country, so I asked them for advice. I was sent books to read and offered women who could answer my questions. I am sure in her community in LA, she could have gone to a mosque and met women in those communities, had discussions, got reading material, etc. They most definitely could have helped her understand the more fundamental type Muslims that Mahmoud's family appears to be. Plus she's been talking to him again for months. She knew the issues from before. Why didn't she figure this out before she went back? And this idea that they are "so in love" is garbage. You don't fall in love with someone in one day, propose in a week... They don't even know each other. I ultimately decided Islam wouldn't be a good fit for me, but I definitely understand my friends and people that I work with way more than before and that is not a bad thing at all. I did move to another country than my birth country of the US, but I didn't get into a long-term relationship until I was already living here for 10 years. I had mostly assimilated.

I feel like I'm one of the few people that finds her strangely endearing, lol. There's nothing really about her that comes off as disingenuous or a fame seeker to me (she doesn’t seem to have a presence on social media, other than IG which she rarely touches).
Though, part of me feels like she was somehow hoping or assuming he'd compromise with her in some way about his beliefs; when he clearly can't. As soon as she got off the plane and they started arguing, I was "Girl, just go back home."
I feel like they do genuinely like each other and seem like sweet people, but they are in no way a good fit. I think they were both expecting something different this time around, without actually...letting each other know? Like putting duct tape on something that's totally broken and hoping it'll stick. Your feelings for someone can only take you so far when your core life values don't align. Fashion is clearly a huge part of her life and how she's able to express herself, his religion is also an incredibly huge part of his life...Nicole had a good life back in LA, and it'd be best for them to part and find people they geniunely feel they can build a life with; because it's not them.

Whatever Mahmoud says is true where he lives and the area he is used to, but this is not the way all Egyptians live, they are pretty open in many areas.Egypt is a very large and populated country and many places in the capital are very open, you wear what you want, you go out, they also mix together. Like I mentioned not all Moslem people wear a hijab, but some are more strict and do and his family belongs to this group. I did see something about a bathroom, not all bathrooms are built the way they have in their house. There are regular ones that are similar to the ones in the States.. it is just a matter of a way of living and she met a person who lives like a majority but not all.

I'll just be honest with you 🤭. Americans & "West" are Very Content with their Islamic Stereotypes & This only solidifies them. They won't reflect on the fact Mahmoud's family is Traditional & There are Expectations that must be followed before, she even considered Conversion. Instead, They, will Erase her Responsibility as an Independent Woman to Educate herself on these matters via ques. to Mahmoud/Family & if she Could be Happy under Their Daily Practice/Life(Extended Family lives together) & Codes of Conduct, of Islam.

What did she expect? I love middle eastern men, especially Egyptians. The fact that his family is so inviting and tolerant, especially the mother, she's really lucky. She seems completely clueless about her husband's culture and values and resistant to adapting. This is their inherent culture. If you don't respect these things you don't really respect your husband. If you can't take the heat, don't date or marry Muslim men, because this is how they are. They deserve to be appreciated as they are and not changed or punished for their own values just because it's not the same as yours.

Half my family is from Egypt as well, including my husband. I know who his friend are, but I don't go hang out with him when he is hanging out with his friends; that is culturally inappropriate there. Just like when I go and have a "girls day," it would be culturally inappropriate for my husband to come and hang out with me. Are Nicole and Mahmoud even married yet? Because in Egypt, when you're married, even though you don't hang out with your spouses friend, you still know who they are, their names, their families names, who their wives are if they are married, etc. Most of the time, all the wives become friends with each other.

This just makes me so sad being a Muslim revert! I’ve been a Muslim for 7 and a half years and a part from the hijab I wear what she’s wearing just a bit baggier, being muslim is so much more than how you dress! I have never worn a long dress 😂 as a Muslim and I’m married to a Arab man too is total opposite of Mahmoud! Even my husband is screaming at the TV watching Mahmoud 😂 I don’t know where all these non Muslim women find the most conservative muslim men!!!
Who expect so much from the women, knowing that they are new to the religion. Nicole is in her right to say “ A huge fat NO “ to all of the clothing Mahmoud is telling her to wear- It’s not because she is being American. She’s a new muslim , she doesn’t have to completely cover herself and act like a perfect Muslim women at all if she doesn’t want too… Because by the looks of it it she knows nothing about Islam except a few words… she’s a new Muslim and Mahmoud is teaching her wrong! If he wanted a muslim wife to be muslim he should have married a MUSLIM WOMAN who was already dressing like he wants Nicole too dress…
Yes, Nicole is irritating and all that but she’s just trying to understand like any human being would but honestly Mahmoud isn’t teaching her Islam …. He’s teaching her his culture and there is no culture in Islam..
If she wants to learn about Islam she should go back to America , walk into a mosque and see for herself what true Islam is like because what Mahmoud is showing is more cultured Islam which doesn’t exist.

Bringing this HUGE!! Entitlement personality and hitting every brick wall there is by forgetting she is Muslim now and had she started learning about Islam she wouldn’t be in this constant drama because she would have been able to make the choice if becoming a Muslim revert was really for her or not! @@royharper2003 I live in the UK surrounded by a huge variety of Muslims, some strict, some secular Muslims, average Muslims, Muslims who don’t practice, Muslim women who wear full covering to muslim women who are free as a bird… I spend a lot of time in Morocco with my husband, Morocco is more westernised than Egypt although I do have Muslim friends in Egypt who are nothing like Mahmoud very free. I don’t think it’s about the country or religion anymore, it’s about the people and their differences in beliefs system.

@@alyaalicekiki1332 Makes sense. However, I've watched this series since the beginning and just about all of the women that move to be with a muslim man experience the same issues these womem on this season are so I don't understand why it is such a surprise for them.

Mahmood was only accommodating her because they were on camera and he dosn't want her to leave. I'm sure after a few days he would be getting really fed up with her and not tolerating all the crying etc. This is Muslim men for you. I really think she is very childlike and naive. She'll be on the next plane back to USA very soon. As you say I don't know why she didn't research first. I think she thought he would be different but none of them are different in the Middle East.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love the edits. Ace ventura and “i never know what im talking about.” I dont really understand why she accepted a person who is polar opposite to her; as a spouse. Not in a balancing way, but that neither wants to budge. Why are there so many “Nicoles” on the show. Is that a cursed name?

If Miss Nicole had had an interest in being Muslim prior to meeting her hubby, had invested time to study and learning and wanted to do it because it was how she felt connected, something she wanted, then this may have worked. But she was silly thinking she was going to conform because her hubby told her too, no way. While Hubby is at it, changing her clothes and all, can he get her to change the bowl-cut? She looks a lot older, the blonde is too monochromatic and the hair a bit too Carol Channing.

lol this guy is in the closet 100%. He's super conservative compared to people in tourist areas/big cities in Egypt--that's why she thinks he's lying about things. He bitched at her for the airport clothes but was perfectly okay with the clothes she wore the next day, which was basically the same without the jacket... He's confusing her and controlling her using his religion as an excuse.

I feel like part of this is their inability to be able to compromise or see what the other side is seeing. Nicole is a free spirit. Mahmoud is a conservative person. Both of them will never change. I would never tell a person what to wear or what not to wear. However, Nicole must understand that Mahmoud grew up in a conservative environment where women must be covered up. He may feel ashamed when men look at Nicole. I am not saying that that ideology is right, but it is something that Nicole needs to grapple with and either choose to live with or choose to leave. Mahmoud needs to understand that Nicole's world is a much more open, liberal world. Not everybody lives in a world where women need to be covered. Not everyone even cares about that. In fact, close to Egypt, Spain, it is an extremely liberal, expressive place that is gay-friendly and has nude beaches. Mahmoud needs to understand that he is not getting an Egyptian woman in this package. Nicole is not getting a liberal foreigner in this. Mahmoud has made this clear. They have to deal with that. Personally, this would be a deal-breaker as I am gay, and I would much rather live in Europe or the USA, where I live my values openly, and we can express ourselves. However, Mahmoud has the right to his beliefs, as long as he is not hurting Nicole or anyone else.

I don't remember where it happened but it was in a Muslim religion country that they stoned a woman to death because her head thing (I know it has a name I don't know what it is called) was not covering her face enough. So before you decide to pick up and go to a different part of the world where they have strict rules on how women can dress act ect ect you better be prepared to live as they do or you might just find yourself in a very bad situation.
