I’ve played a few levels so far and I can tell this game is dangerous. The controls are so fluid and I can see myself getting real addicted to trying to speedrun levels. It’s amazing.
Surprised (or not) no one is mentioning NiGHTS as a reference point for this - it looks like it has the same amazing elasticity and pure, all out, mental, fun
@@Christophoronomicon The game's artstyle reminds me more of Knuckles' Chaotix than anything imo; there's a similar emphasis on very abstract geometry and bold colors, with lots of rich texturing to make it feel more solid.

The music being like sonic could be due to the fact that the team who worked on it also did Sonic Mania (though I can’t remember if the person that did Mania’s music also did this)
A main character who uses a yo-yo?! This is the kind game I wanted from Ness when the original Smash Bros first released Never heard of this game til now but the kid in me is immensely excited

Might I hope for a full SwitchUp review of it?
I adore the flip out of this game. So many subtle nods beyond Sonic here. Mario Odyssey (cause, of course ) along with the likes of Glover, Billy Hatcher, even a splash of Aero the Acrobat, looking at Penny's silhouette and theming. Hoping beyond hope that there will be an eventual physical release. I want this gem on my wall for time immortal.
There's also a yoyo trick called the breakaway, very clever title choice from the dev team! As a yoyoer I think I'll have to pick this one up, it looks really fun.
Her design does remind of Mischief Makers protagonist. However, the art style in general instantly made me think of how 3d renders used as cover art for early Sega Saturn games used to look. I’d really like a Nintendo Switch demo, just because I’m really appealed by how this game looks, but I want to know how the game plays with the yoyo, getting around and whatnot. I’d be satisfied with a demo of just one stage or level, or even just part of a stage or level to simply test the controls.
I've been waiting for this game for a while, and it looks fantastic! I really hope there is a physical copy in the works. I like having physical copies of my games when possible.
I’m planning on getting it for the gameplay, and it’s great to see games focusing on that, but the Colonial era wig hair combined with the wing hat tells me the character design should’ve been finalized way before this stage. Penny feels like the devs took the “Make your protagonist stand out” philosophy to an obnoxious extreme that even action anime would tell to chill
That handheld footage looks a bit more unsteady compared to the rest of the footage. The fact that it's not 60fps is a no go for me... as much as I would love to play it on Switch. I'll just wait until I get a Steamdeck or other PC handheld to play this gem of a game the way the devs probably prefer we all play it. PS>>> I wonder if there'll be an upgraded 60fps version we'll be able to play on the Switch 2??
I've had my eyes on this one but wasn't too sure about it. So once again you guys have secured another purchase from me😁 Looks fun although momentum based games are a hit and miss for me but I'll give it a chance once a sale arises. I'm so disappointed by the 30fps lock on Switch. This particular game just doesn't feel good to me at 30fps and I wish they'd at least given the _option_ of lower resolutions/dynamic resolution in order to eek out even just a little bit more than 30fps -- I'm willing to deal with resolutions as low as 720p docked/540p handheld and inconsistent frametimes just to get the most frames in this frantic, fast-paced game. I mean, Evening Star achieving even a smooth-enough 30fps lock at a native 1080p docked/720p handheld is a really good-looking compromise, but it just doesn't play as nicely as it looks at that low of a framerate...
So can we talk about how the physical market is handled because i spent money on chained echoes physical because of the awesome reviews here and now it seems like that whole preorder process was a scam. Are the developers able to comment on whether we trust their physical distributors?

I'm definitely buying this to support the dev team! I'm just sad this isn't a Sonic game, and I wonder why Sega didn't sign them up to make one after they more than proved themselves with Mania. With the way 3D Sonic has been languishing, goodness knows Sonic Team could do with some competition...

I don't know why people are shocked that the Switch version has a lower framerate. The Switch is a tablet device from 2017 that uses a chip from 2014. You're expecting that to compete with a PS5? If FPS is that important, just get it on another system. Simple.
Amazing game but Take-Two can F* right off with 4 terms and warning screens before you even get into the game. America's paranoid litigation life really needs to go away. No one should be having to scroll through and accept this many screens. The scroll is completely pointless, no one is going to read it one way or another.
