That was so good! On every level 😂 Much thanks for all that hard work and the epic accompanying vibes ❤❤
I'd say I'm most looking forward to the wren in the holly library, heaven breaker, tangled up in you, and running close to the wind. So many great upcoming releases I couldn't pick just one 🤯

Aww, thanks so much-I don’t think I’ve ever managed to make anything that was called “epic” before! I LOVE making these videos (even if they do, admittedly, take a while to make) and have so much fun making them- the REALLY hard part is deciding which books make it into the videos I always feel so bad but no one one to listen to me for longer than an hour! And those are some GREAT choices, if I had to read one RIGHT now it would definitely be The Wren in The Holly Library! I…maybe even ordered a BARELY different copy from the UK…Thanks so much for the comment and welcome to the channel (I don’t think we’ve chatted before)! 💕

I adore your second dress with the daisies!!🌼 Remind me, where do you buy your dresses?? Also, when you were describing the books and said "Baba Yaga" my eyes went wide! I LOVE any story that has Baba Yaga in it! And I am so excited for When we were Silent! You had me hooked when you said, "part thriller, part dark academia." I really enjoy reading dark academia books in September, so I will be keeping this one in mind... Speaking of dark academia, have you read Ninth House? Also! (Adding this in as I continue to watch the video) I can't handle horror, but I did not have a problem with Riley Sager's The House Across the Lake and Final Girls. Those are the only books by him I've read so far! I'm happy with some fun spooky stuff around Halloween, and slasher type stuff doesn't bother me too much. Mostly I can't really handle body horror, torture, sexual assault, and things that are paranormal like ghosts and demons.

Oh, you are too sweet! About half of my dresses I’ve worn are from Ivy City Co, some are from Jessakae, and I like companies that are vintage-inspired- Unique Vintage, Retro Stage, etc. that specific dress was from Belle Poque, which are cut SO well if you’ve got an hourglass figure- AND they have a small storefront on Amazon- I checked and that green daisy dress is available there, but if you want that pattern in another style, check out their website! And if you see a corset, it’s always from Scarlet Darkness. I like to buy stuff I don’t see everywhere else, you know (uh, ignoring that some of the stuff is now on amazon…but at least it’s super helpful when you need it fast or to figure out sizing)? And Baba Yaga (they actually use the old “Jaga” spelling, I hadn’t seen that before) is such a specific tale to love; you must have been ALL over Thistlefoot when it came out! I love that some really different folklore is starting to become more popular- it makes for WAY more interesting books since the worlds feel so fresh and new!
Sounds like we are going to be reading a bunch of the same stuff come September…but I’m worried I’m running out of dark academia books! And YES, I read and LOVED Ninth House but have yet to read Hellbent because I misplaced my copy for like half a year. (I found it in the gift wrap container on Christmas Eve. HOW…???)
And I’m good with some spooky stuff at Halloween (I have to be, it’s my favorite holiday and all!), but I’d rather face a ghost than a slasher any day!

@@LitCouture Thank you for the information about your dresses!! I do have an hourglass figure, so I think they should fit me pretty well! I am glad to hear that Belle Poque has an amazon storefront because that does make trying dresses on and potentially returning them if need be so much easier! And I LOVE Thistlefoot!! I need to find more tales about Baba Yaga (or Jaga lol). I recently read a middle grade novel called "The House with Chicken Legs" and it was such a sweet and hearwarming adventure 😍 Also... I ended up DNFing Ninth House because it got too dark and disturbing for me about midway through. I was afraid it would keep getting darker and more disturbing so I got scared off. I feel torn, though, because I LOVED the writing and was really into the story. Does it keep getting worse and worse? I know you don't like horror and anything too dark, so if you could get through it, maybe I can try it again too! 💪

@@jessicaallard9453 We are starting to sound more and more like the same person, different zip code...
And I'm trying to remember with Ninth House....I know I felt like Leigh Bardugo just HAD to prove that she could go really hard for her first adult novel and SHE DID. I think I reviewed it in my Dark Academia video, but mostly in spite of the the gore that showed up with the rituals (yeah, no, didn't love those), the mystery became so compelling for me and the way she structured the narrative made it just unputdownable for me. I don't think it was totally five stars because a) I did have to skim over some of the"yay let's sacrifice people" bits b) Alex was just a grumpy little anti-hero and my total opposite so she made a tough narrator for me to relate to and c) honestly, perhaps it could have used a smidge little bit of an edit...but it was also one of those ones that stuck with me and left me going "NO SHE DID NOT" at the end and I immediately bought the sequel so...so I glad I could be completely unhelpful. I think we felt the same way I just DIDN'T put it down, and if you made it halfway I'm almost certain it doesn't get darker-- you start getting more flashbacks and stuff around then and the mystery takes over more, if I remember correctly, so you stopped EXACTLY when things were going to let up a little if I had to guess! If I recall there's one climactic creepy scene but...isn't there always? And, honestly, if I can get though a book based on creepy factor...most people can, I'm kind of a wimp. (Also, I only read it during the daytime. I remember this VERY distinctly.)

@@LitCouture 🤣 we ARE starting to sound like the same person!! That's why we connect and have such great chats on here that kinda actually feel to me like I have a bookish pen-pal 😄 Thank you for your (actually very helpful) thoughts on Ninth House 🤔 I think I will pick it back up!! I had something similar happen to me recently with the Fallout show where I almost stopped watching because one scene disturbed me so deeply. Then a friend went on ahead and finished the show and told me it didn't get any worse or more gruesome. I was able to finish it and was SO happy I did!! I believe this is probably the same situation with Ninth House! Ninth House did give me a nightmare, so I'll have to take a page out of your playbook and not listen to it (I have it as an audiobook) at night. I'll also have to go back and re-watch your dark academia videos 😊 I watched them back when you posted them but forgot all of the books you read for them! Did you end up reading If we were Villains or is that on the list for this fall? 🍂

@@jessicaallard9453 Bookish penpals, YES!! I love that so much! And OMG I NEVER could have listened to Ninth House out loud, absolutely no way, I’d still be haunted by those scenes echoing over and over….now I see why you had to stop- I’d still be sleeping with the lights on! And I thought If We Were Villains might be too violent for me- this is hilarious. Should it go on my fall TBR???

Awww thank you so much! Actually, in my first month or so after making this channel someone commented that I sounded like a Disney Princess and NOT in a good way, and that I needed to tone it down if I wanted to stay on UA-cam, so your comment made me feel so much better about a secret insecurity! Welcome to the channel- I guess you’ll be thrilled to hear I talk A LOT! 😆💕

The flower chokers are the cutest!
I would like to meet the guy from The Paradise Problem as well, no reasons
Hearts That Cut is such a gorgeous cover. I’m unsure I’d enjoy the books myself but I’m admiring from afar

I'm going through a total choker phase right now...kinda missed it the first time in the nineties and I'm not sure they're really a thing right now either but I am MAKING them one.
      No reasons, huh?
And it is SO pretty but it was just too you. If the book had focused on the girl's older sister and her mysterious forbidden sapphic relationship, meanwhile, I would be SCRAMBLING to snatch that next book! (Sorry for the MIA-ness...my mom was in the hospital last week for her heart and it was a nasty shock. She's okay, but emotionally I'm still NOT.)

@@BooksToAshes Thanks so much, she is doing MUCH better and it doesn’t seem as though she’ll be be needing a second surgery so we’re all SO grateful for that. I’m having a ROUGH time balancing everything right now, I can’t even seem to read a single thing and it’s awful. I…don’t even have anything to film because I have no books to review. YIKES. Maybe I’ll do a video on my choker collection…

@@LitCouture That’s a relief, still a stressful experience but that’s really good to hear she won’t need another. Despite a very different circumstance (not stress just bleh), I’m slumping too so I completely get what you mean. Omg your dress, outfits, accessories, I’d WATCH that and I usually don’t care for fashion but yours is divine. If you did, I’d be there
