@@LitCouture honestly I don't think so??? Yeah, there's gory passages but you also read suspenses/thrillers and some fantasy books we have seen these last years have been gory, so no, Run! I loved Wolf and Woodsman. It has everything that makes Ava Reid so brillant.

And honestly…with the continual low-level nausea most people have been, er, enjoying (please feel the sarcasm across the ocean) leading up to this delightful presidential election (nearby neighbors are in an election sign battle, it’s amazing watching them run out of yard space; others have taken to stealing campaign signs and posting angrily about it in the neighborhood online forum- and this is the SUBURBS), I’d trade higher shipping prices for my sanity back. (I don’t think I’m supposed to say any of this but…nooooo filter to be had here in this real-life dystopian cartoon.)

I'm still saving it for my RIGHT before Halloween read and I am SO excited for it, I swear I have heard NOTHING but good things. (Okay, don't tell, I cheated and snuck a peak at the first three pages and it is SPOOOOOKY but I can't WAIT to read it, I might push it ahead of the big Brandon Sanderson behemoth that was supposed to be next!) And there's nothing wrong with typical romance if it's done well-- a good fantasy/storyline can save A LOT, and I'm curious to see what this balance is (that exists? huh? kidding! kidding!). I'm SO glad you loved it!

Oh, GOSH, NO! I talked about two, but only one actually MADE the TBR-- I'm optimistic, not delusional! Brandon Sanderson is a delight, but I'm only human! I just know from past experience that Oathbreaker will be a five star because...his books always are. All one thousand-something pages of them...and no, no I haven't finished it yet...eek!

I was so nervous to post that review, that thing got cut down from 25 minutes of rambling (okay, gushing), but The Starless Sea was SO special. I will dutifully temper my expectations for The Night Circus, but I'm glad to hear you think I'll still enjoy it-- honestly, I cannot imagine anything competing with The Starless Sea, but I also can't imagine Erin Morgentstern's writing not being beautiful, so I'll take it! (Seriously...one book every like 8 years, is that what we're getting? I mean, it's art, I get it but...I'm gonna need MORE.) I'm so sorry about Wren, but I am DEFINITELY in the minority with my opinion, so maybe give it a shot. I'm still going to continue with the series because I loved the ending the direction I think it's going, so that definitely says something. I've just read SO MUCH fantasy a lot of it is starting to feel...really similar, you know? But most people LOVED IT, and I've had a pretty tough few months-- maybe I would have loved it if I'd been feeling better when I read it, I always worry about that. My word is NOT the end all, be all. trust me! And Why Choose is SO MUCH fun, but not everyone loves the genre-- you have to REALLY like smut. Like, a lot. Beautiful Beast was uniquely fantasy heavy, but the fantasy was...more like paranormal romance on further reflection, and it's not Devyn Sinclair's best. I should really do a Why Choose and Omegaverse for beginners video, that would be SO fun and has sort of been in my mind for ages...argh, I need more hours in the day!

It's so weird because the videos are always at least two weeks behind where I am in real life when it comes to reading, and now it's more like a month behind! Thank goodness I take notes or I'd never be able to film reviews, but its so funny keeping three timelines in my head: real life, filming, and then where I'm at with what's been posted. Don't worry, with books I'm well into Spookopoly, it's just a filming backup! And YES, I'm totally the same-- I always have at least four books going at once. Occasionally a book will snatch me up and I'll read it straight through in the midst of others, but I like to be able to switch it up. It makes my husband crazy that there are always half-finished books everywhere and I always know exactly where they are, but I can't keep track of my phone to save my life. BUT I hope you LOVE The Starless Sea, I'm going to be so crushed when anyone doesn't now, it's like...a problem. It DOES sound like people might be interested in a book club at some point, and I'm going to have to figure that one out. Most BookTubers do it through Patreon but I don't really want to set it up with a paywall, and I LOATHE discord, so I'm not sure how I'd set it up. I'm definitely not ready quite yet, but it's something I'm starting to think about...which is WILD, I still can't quite wrap my head around it, honestly.

@@InfinitexLibrary Aww thank you, I don’t know what is up with my karma but I really have been feeling pretty miserable- it’s like my body is just freaking out over everything. The joy even continued with an allergic reaction to a new med, and now I own a shiny new epipen. I think I’m ready for the new year now. Ooohhh do you know the book??? Is it good?? I hadn’t heard of it, but it does sound up our alley! The items were rough though (I mean that literally, I think I could sand something with that moth shelf), but it’s nice to experiment. And I hope you love Weyward! Parts were a bit tough emotionally, but the writing was so good and it’s such a great atmospheric read for this time of year!

@@laurawessels2490 Oh no, I was hoping that maybe my shelf was just faulty and at least others would have better luck! And they can claim that shirt is environmentally friendly and sun-blocking all they want, but I cannot imagine enjoying that fabric on my skin at all, and I agree it’s a shame- the design was so nice! I would have even preferred it on yet another tote bag…I wish they had gone with fewer but nicer items and been a bit more thoughtful with their choices. But the book was so lovely and it was one that was completely off my radar, so I’m glad to have such a pretty edition of a book I might have missed out on at least! In the future though…I think I’ll just stick to their books unless I see others showing some boxes from them with much nicer items.

Ohhh, I hope you love it as much as I did! I could have NEVER picked a favorite book before reading this one-- I would have stammered and been like: from what month? From which year? At least give me a genre and subgenre! But now I really do have that one perfect book in which I cannot name a flaw, or even find the right words to describe it, and I REALLY hope you find your book too! I don't know if it changed my life, but it made me feel so...seen? So perfectly encapsulated in a book? I almost felt like the book kept whispering my name back to me, and, you know, I think it sounded a little different at the end of the book than it did at the beginning (that makes absolutely no sense but it's the best way I can describe it).

Ohhhh, I bet it's just stunning! I definitely hunted down a few special editions, I simply HAD to! I've just never read anything else quite like it and I loved it so much that it was the hardest review to put into words-- I felt a little silly filming it because WHO REVIEWS A BOOK LIKE THAT but I couldn't help myself. Honestly, I'm STILL thinking about it-- my TBR is ridiculous and yet I cannot stop trying to figure out when I'm going to fit in a reread!

And I am SO glad someone else feels the same way I do about that book, I finished it and just was a little mystified as to how it was THE book of the fall. I'm so glad so many people are LOVING it but...maybe these are readers who haven't read a ton of smut yet? As long as people are, ahem FALLing for it, I won't yuck their yum and I'm all for anything that brings people joy, but by standards it was just SO tame.

Would you care to guess what happened when one next to the wick caught flame and the others nearby thought, “Hey, that looks like fun?” You want to talk about chaos ensuing…I’m glad THAT was not caught on camera. I kind of have a long history of having VERY bad luck with fire. And I know what you’re thinking: oh, no, I’m sure it’s not that bad. Ahem: a toaster (well, and toast), curtains (twice), a blowdryer, a beanie baby, my own hair (not allowed to touch the Bunsen burners in chem after that, I maintain no one told me I wasn’t meant to strike the match towards me), a Barbie doll and a lamp, a decorative pillow sham and that cursed lamp again, that lamp for the final time and a laptop (do NOT ask, IBM holds no accountability and also was utterly baffled after examining it at headquarters), a nightlight and the outlet it once lived in, a sound soother, and I’m leaving out all cooking incidents minus the toast because that was the knife’s fault (also tin foil a metal? Who knew?). So. Bummer about the dentist. I have a tooth they are “watching” and like…just don’t tell me the crown is wonky. Tell me when it needs to be replaced so I don’t have to worry about it every day for the next six months- why would you do that to me??? In other news, I had an allergic reaction to the new medication I was given. That cost me another week and was not only awful but mildly terrifying. Also epipens are stupidly expensive, if you were wondering. No? Neither was I. But here we are, in the I now get to own one “just in case” world. (I was okay, just miserable. My hives had hives.) I must admit, I’ve never seen an influencer do that…points to them for keeping it in the video! And off to find more comments. We must stop writing this way! (I need to reply sooner to, sorry…but come ON UA-cam!)

I...kind of had a relapse, I was put on a new med and it turns out I was allergic to it and that reaction was kind of scary, if I'm being really honest. But I'm back on steroids (woo, three whole days off of them, how thrilling) and looking less...puffy and red, so, I guess I'm on the mend now. Filming has been tricking since I've been so splotchy but I'm also pretty good with makeup and I think I'm pulling it off, and at least I haven't been up to doing much BUT read! Silver linings, right? And no judgement-- we eat WAY too much takeout (try as I might, I just can't cook decent Thai food, and everyone including the five-year-old is totally addicted)!

And yea allergic reactions can be petrifying.. im not as bad as you but my allergy list is 3 pages long back to back…meaning everywhere i go i will just be bothered..not dying, but bothered. I...had an allergic reaction the one of new the medications I was given on Friday so...we're kind of back to square one, but at least the steroids they put me back on give me lots of energy? And thanks so much, I was a little nervous about keeping it so small and chill but I'm SO glad you enjoyed it! Thank GOODNESS someone else understands my endless autumn TBR and the struggle for fit all of those autumnal books in! I'm not a mood reader-- I'm a SEASONAL reader! AND YES, why is summer the LONGEST season?? It takes over spring SO early and doesn't want to let fall start until winter is nearly here! I filmed this was a just as I was starting to find out that you can, in fact, have an allergic reaction to any viral, bacterial, or fungal infection you may come in contact with thanks to husbands, children, or pets. That’s, right, your body can kick you while you’re down and send you running to the doctor convinced you have Chicken Pox when you just are allergic to what you've already come down with. And, of course, are now covered in hives because your body freaks out over everything. So…not doing great. During editing I could see the red splotches I didn’t know were about to come out just starting in this video (they’re in the heart, but I won’t tell you to look too closely because RISQUÉ!). And everything else in general…further down the rabbit hole of medicine I go, I still have no answers and more referrals for fancier doctors in bigger cities (not a great sign, I’m guessing). But thank you for the compliment, and for commenting- filming is always fun and so is reading, but talking with you guys makes me feel so supported. How did you know I desperately needed a pick-me-up today??? (And I mean it for real, seriously, thank you so so much 💕)

I was disappointed by the Alexandra Bracken one and I JUST read one last month that was completely ho-hum, so I was COUNTING on this one! This was my first book from Aurora, and I can’t WAIT to see more as they start mailing boxes out regularly! The origami packaging killed me- the time! The effort! The…skills I SO do not have. I haven’t heard much about them, so I love checking out boxes you don’t see as often, you know? Your comment set off a little PING in my head and I’ve actually gotten off their list before, but they were doing a series that was too grim/dark for me- I forgot you have to get through entire series with them (at least for tier 2) and looking through their past stuff again, I think I’d keep having that problem with their subscription. But I do grab random books from time to time and they’re always so lovely! It’s a shame my husband is pretty much just into audiobooks right now, these are the series he LOVES but he’s not a collector (which, on second thought, is probably for the best…or we might actually collapse our foundation under the sheer weight of our books- that’s not actually a thing, right?).

(CanNOT blame you there, if you’re just listening that did NOT come out in anything remotely resembling the English language and the added subtitle wouldn’t be much help!) I forget people like to listen to videos in the background and holding up packaging isn’t going to be much help you’re not familiar with the boxes…sooooo let me just add those in the description for you! And the monthly boxes are listed like that so international subscribers who don’t like to know what’s coming ahead of time don’t accidentally see book titles and can turn me off in time (also a previous super smart viewer request). I love that people are so helpful and willing to ask for things to make my videos better- thank you, it is ALWAYS super appreciated! But, fair warning, most of these are now closed pre-orders so you’ll have to go for the upcoming October picks.

My life is so pun-filled, you have NO idea. My five-year-old can roll her eyes at them now. THAT is how pervasive they are in this house. And the amount of singing that has to be cut videos is ridiculous…I have the funny feeling my family occasionally wishes they could edit it out in real life because I just get this weird impression most people don’t break out in song randomly throughout the day. Like, possibly. And I’m pretty sure my sister had herself convinced she was getting psychic powers at one point…I just remember wanting Raven’s bedroom. AND IT IS IMPORTANT. But you would not believe how often they forget to include this, or it comes along in a random email when they realize it’s not in the box OR when the overlays are announced, and that gives me far too much credit honestly. If it’s not physically in the box, hunting through my email has maybe a 50% success rate. Do people still delete emails and organize inboxes? And I supposed to be doing that? Awww, thank you, I am a total headband addict! And I wish I could say it was from special boutique or something, but it’s legit just from Amazon- type in “gold leaf headband” and BAM it can be yours for less than $10; they even come in sets if you’re indecisive about which types of leaves you might like adorning your locks (pretty sure I have them all). But BEWARE taking it off- it will seriously tear your hair out in clumps if you don’t go slowly, those leaves grab on and don’t like to let go!
