I own this knife now (thank you for the Patron sale Nick!), and like it a lot. Steel feels equivalent to 440C, so strops and sharpens easily. Thanks to the full liners, the knife also has nice heft - it’s a bit heavier than it looks. I ignore the billboarding and enjoy the asymmetrical Damascus. And the clip functions exactly as expected, good deep carry on jeans. Thumbs up!
I own 2 versions of this knife. I love the knife. Might get replacement pocket clips someday. I'm carrying my Black Bladed 14C28N green micarta version today. Good video, Nick. Thanks
Refreshing knaf video as always. I wish we got more of this rather than other very loud and flashy creators who’s “personal” collections grow with their egos.
So the little bar can, in fact, be made to pop out like the original Vision: you see the 2 barrel spacers when you had the knife apart? You would simply leave the rear most spacer out to reintroduce this feature. Snecx had posted this "mod" on his Instagram page.
100% was gonna leave this same comment, I’ve done this to my vision fg kinda fun and I do like being able to clean that mating surface from time to time.
I agree with the “designed by Snecx” comment. Since the superlock is their design- and not the Damascus blade- it would make more sense for them to put this designation on the super lock itself and not the blade. Truly boneheaded.
pretty sure nick went on some gank spank sprees right after he recorded this vid, dual wielding his nightrider glaives and punishing some filthy mages.
I've a couple demkos with the shark lock, a tactile knife co "chupacabra" and several vision fgs. If that is going to be your first vision? Pffff. Stellar. It's my favorite among this style lock. Disclaimer- I've not held/used a full sized American demko, so, there's that?
I have three versions of the Vision FG including this one and the Knife Center exclusive. The Knife Center version is the best of the lot. It definitely lives up to the hype.
I grabbed that one too, but the carbon fiber is just too slick so I got some raw aluminum Seigaiha scales on Etsy from Practical3DP. Not cheap, but great stuff.
I have it preordered as well. Glad I waited for civivi to do a better steel version without having to buy the WE version with that horrible pocket clip
I would say, it is a very heavy knife for its size If you don’t like that, there is someone on Etsy that you can send your knife in to get aluminum scales custom fit, with a liner delete, and it’s only about 70$ It turns the knife into a 200$ knife, but it makes it ALOT better IMO The weight getting knocked down by a full ounce makes it feel a lot more balanced Besides that, I think it needs jimping on the blade With how popular this knife is, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “Vision FV” or “Vision II” or something that has aluminum scales and jimping and maybe a different blade shape Civivi has definitely noticed the success of the Pyrite, and I think they could have something similar in the Vision, more expensive sure, but a much tougher and more interesting knife
Got the weknife version also and I agree with you I prefer the Civivi version. Slightly thicker but more enjoyable flicking in and out, shame about the boring white scales but not the end of the world.
I have the other damascus blade with the black micarta scales, and the 'Designed by Snecx' placement is pretty bad on that one as well. The damascus on mine is much better centered on both sides of the blade compared to the white G10 version, though. I think the core is 10Cr, which is probably good-enough at this budget for a blade that's prioritizing looks. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. The lock action feels fantastic, especially as a left-handed person. That alone has made me overlook a lot of the cons. It's a little bigger and heavier than I like to EDC in an office environment, so I can't wait to see the superlock start showing up in more (and hopefully sub-3") knives. If you ever have the chance to review the base model Shark Cub, I'd love to see that comparison. The price points and lock style are the same, with some pretty big differences in designs and materials. With the Cub being a much more EDC-friendly size to boot.
I think the perfect version of this would be the blade of the WE version and the assembly of the Civivi version. But I might come out of knife hobby retirement for this little gem
The only thing I like about the scales on this is it has full liners which, for me, makes it super easy to make your own scales for. Other than that? It's a great carry overall. Not a great pattern on this version for me, yet I own one. Also, not my favorite lock style to manipulate as an edc, but I ain't mad at it. My best, which is arguably mediocre, to you and yours, Nick!
I believe the Damascus that Civivi uses is a 9Cr18 + 10Cr15 combo So Gonna be similar in performance to VG-10 or N690 or 154CM at same HRC Now the core is something else, and I remember someone mentioning it, but I don’t remember if it’s D2 or something else, but I’m pretty sure it was a semi stainless steel with more carbon But the cladding is 100% 9Cr18 and 10Cr15
Your comment about "Design by Fleck" has to be taken in context. On a non damascus knife the printing follows a blade angle so in the production process, this is the automated placement - hence the relatively inexpensive knife. Great knife to play with.
@@Keen_Edge I assume you meant bearings, I hate how prevalent bearings are nowadays because I do not prefer them in the slightest. I know for sure civivi has 2 washer pivot knives the mastiff and the governor.
@@leonopterix981the Damasteel blade/titanium scales version of the Vision R is currently listed on the WE website at $799.40; the “plain Jane” version is $316.50.
I've been out of the hobby for a few years and it's honestly just nice to know you're still at it Nick. Keep up the magic Nick.
The wife gets me a knife every Xmas this is gonna be the one I ask for this year . Can’t wait to get it .
I'm 2 years into the hobby and Nick you gotta get back to reviews. So so many knives I always wish I could see your thoughts on it.
Thank you, Nick, for keep posting these videos.

The spring was making me so nervous, glad you found it.

I agree. One in particular has gotten so cocky and I find it annoying.
I've been very interested in these knives because I love the custom and the WE version (of the Vision 😏) wasn't up my alley.
So the little bar can, in fact, be made to pop out like the original Vision: you see the 2 barrel spacers when you had the knife apart? You would simply leave the rear most spacer out to reintroduce this feature. Snecx had posted this "mod" on his Instagram page.

Excellent knife! The only thing I do not really like about it are the speed holes.
I like the Ti version, the pocket clip doesn’t bother me in the slightest, I also like to do the reverse flick far more than thumb studs
You can reverse flick the thumb-studs without problem.
I agree with the “designed by Snecx” comment. Since the superlock is their design- and not the Damascus blade- it would make more sense for them to put this designation on the super lock itself and not the blade. Truly boneheaded.
Elden ring reference
Priceless .

What Citizen is that? And have you done a review on it? I’m impressed with what they’ve been doing lately
Love the knife don’t love the steel. I’ve stopped carrying it but it is in the collection still.
What is it that you don’t like about the steel? Do you mean the damascus? I think the NitroV is one of the best budget steels available.

i'm not sure what the darker steel is, but i'm pretty certain the shiny one is 9cr18mov

They started selling Civivi at my local Walmart.

Lol lack of....vision....classic shabazz🍻🙌🙌
reminds me of a tj schwarz design
This is my go-to bushcraft knife.
It doesn't strike me as a dirty job knife.
Cleaning those holes must be almost impossible. No to mention that there are no washers
*Antidextrous
I just want one with washers.
Try skiff. They make thick washers to replace bearings.
@MikeJ602 I've looked into it before, but I have a hard time finding the correct size.
Yeah, I hate that so much (if not all, I'm not sure) of Civivi's lineup are on bearings. (Edit: Corrected from washers)
@@Keen_Edge I assume you meant bearings, I hate how prevalent bearings are nowadays because I do not prefer them in the slightest. I know for sure civivi has 2 washer pivot knives the mastiff and the governor.
I like it and the price seems fair for such an original design. But I'm not going to be EDCing a knife over 4 ounces.
To be fair "Sneck" is better than "USA" America's Chinese cousin. On Damascus laser etching on the spine or other innocuous place is better.
You are still married?
Thats a very personal question to be asking a stranger online
