    Can't believe I found this video! I just dug up my DR-660 up (27 years old) to program Rosanna Shuffle and Joe Morello's Take 5. (It has taken me that long to progress to trying to tackle those great songs on my drum kit. I am now 67 retired with plenty of time.) Screen was dead. I thought all was lost and was going to toss it. But you have given me hope. It's only a matter of finding the CR 2025 battery- hopefully I can find one. I've even got the original 500mA 12 Volt transformer/power source.
    My old original Roland electronic drum kit is stiull going strong, although my friend "borrowed" my electronic module 10 years ago and I had to replace it with a Roland TD-4 module- but still not as useful as the DR -660. Thanks for posting this video and taking the time to show how to open the unit and locate the battery.

    Great job of reviving and old classic! It sounds surprisingly good, does it?

      It was great bang-for-the-bucks back in early 90's when I bought it. It still sounds good, but some of the sounds are a bit "out-dated" 😄

    Tjena vet du var jag kan köpa en passande dc plugg? De som ingår i universaladaptrar är ju för små. Vilka mm ska det vara?

    • @MeeBilt
      @MeeBilt  25 днів тому +1

      Hej, jag har för mig att det var denna:
      www.electrokit.com/dc-plugg-3.1mm-plast

    • @huluppu
      @huluppu 24 дні тому

      Det verkar stämma att det ska vara 3.1 mm. Dock måste denna plugg från elektrokit lödas fast. Jag googlade på replacement BRA-230 (originaladapterns namn) och hittade en passande ersättande adapter på eBay... dock UK modell så måste köpa till en konverterare till svenska kontakter 😂 Interna batterier är oxå bytt nu. Totalt uppe i en femhundring nu men det får det vara värt för att (förhoppningsvis) kicka igång denna medelmåttiga maskin, som dock var mitt allra första och enda elektroniska instrument 1997-98 som tonåring. Jag har nämligen lovat mej själv att använda precis alla instrument jag har, på minst en låt, i kommande projekt.

      Och det fanns faktiskt en del användbara coola kits i den, och parametrar att tweaka!

    Hi there great video so that means that the CR2023 will not work for this machine? it has to be the correct battery CR2025??

    • @MeeBilt
      @MeeBilt  Рік тому +1

      I would suggest to use the correct
      one.

      Hi there and good day so CR2025 is suggested to use??

    • @MeeBilt
      @MeeBilt  Рік тому +1

      @@TheZombo66 Atleast on my DR-660. When I checked online some people says it should be CR2032. So there is a bit of confusion it seems.
      I guess you have to open up your unit and check.

    Hello! What did you connect the beat machine to? What did the orange and red cables connect to? My brother was gifted this and he needs help. Thanks in advance.

    • @MeeBilt
      @MeeBilt  2 роки тому

      Its' the wires that connects to the wall wart power supply (12VAC 500mA). I lost the original BOSS AC-adapter while moving between places, so I had to find a replacement. The original adapter is called Boss BRA-230 or BRA-120, depending on the mains voltage in your region.
      Best of luck fixing your brothers DR-660

      @@MeeBilt thank you. Also at the end of your video what is the light green cord connected to? Is that in the headphones part of the machine? Or speakers

    • @MeeBilt

      @@WendyMyFairOne Sorry I forgot to mention that in the video - I connected the headphone output of the dr-660 to the line-in input of my amp (and speakers).

    hello there after a few hours of opening this beauty of DM did some testing checked for continuity I'm not an expert but learning checked out ok , I managed to get it making some sounds with the acceptation of the screen is completely burnt out I think? I did see a reset upon turning it back on but screen is very blurry to see that does not look normal ? would anyone know if this can be repaired? at this point I might be able to trigger or sample the sounds off this drum machine!! please anyone!! thank you.

    • @MeeBilt

      From your description it might be the LCD driver IC or the LCD itself that is broken. This is not easy to fix, unfortunately. It could be worthwhile to check the flex-cable between the frontpanel PCB and the main PCB.

      @@MeeBilt hi there and happy Thursday thank you for responding. Oh I remove the flex cable and reinserted few occasions and still the screen looks very faint it so I think you’re right I could only probably use it to sample the sound off of it and maybe see if I can midi it and trigger the sounds of from a controller also thank you for responding back MeeBilt!!

    what power cord adapter was that

    • @MeeBilt
      @MeeBilt  2 роки тому

      Hello Isaac,
      I got the adapter from a local store here, but it is a 12VAC wall-wart rated at 830 mA. The original adapter from BOSS, the BRA-120/220/230 (depending on your region) is rated to 500 mA max current, so anything more than that should be fine.

      Sorry to hear that - for me it is. This is a 30 year budget old equipment - it's not a Digitakt.
