      About Facts
I too am old and haven't unlimited time to mess around either.
It is a fact that JP exists. To what, whom, or Whom are you thankful for his existence? You did not specify. Obviously JP had nothing to do with his own creation or conception. Do you feel thankful toward Fate, or the Big Bang, or nothing in particular? You do not sound like a total materialist, since you speak of having a spirit. This is encouraging.
I hope that you are a Christian. But if not, please consult Jesus rather than JP. Jesus has done for us what no philosopher can do.
(Romans 5:8) 'For God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.'

      Damn....
Just watched for the second time all the way through. I replayed several parts as I watched and the last 5 minutes just now. Tears were threatening... but your comment racked a sob out of me 😂😛
Not the first time I've shed a tear watching Peterson.
Thank you for your comment. So true.
When Dennis says he'll end on Peterson's last comment because nothing could be more powerful, I could accept that in the grander sense of Jordans contributions to my life and the world. But I really hope we don't have to.
What a bright candle. The best often burn out quickly. But if Peterson can do what he has helped so many of us do, there will be more to come.
Maybe this last year was a necessary Journey to the underworld.❤
I think Peterson came by his wisdom honestly from places of real darkness and pain. That's why we get what he has put together. Maybe there is an even bigger lesson seeing that someone who can express how to achieve meaning as well as he does can still succumb to the suffering and pain and malevolence of existence. As he says, ultimately we all do.
Maybe his new level of suffering will inspire even greater Transcendence

Something similar happened to me in Grade 8, all the kids but one ganged up on me, conspired together to hurt me. Took years to get over it. When we look out into the darkness at night by contrast we also see the billions of lights shining at us. That amount of matter and energy is incredible, especially in light of it all coming from one place at one time, in the Big Bang beginning where the eternal God said, "Let there be light." But the fine tuning of the universe is just as remarkably beyond impossible odds. To think from this one singular explosion of everything from apparent nothing we get perfect harmony of so many life sustaining variables, it's ridiculous without an intelligent designer.

And considering there is no evidence for any god of any kind...belief is all there is for those willing it to be so.
To claim knowledge of that which cannot be truly 'known' is simply fallacious and counterintuitive to me anyway.
I don't exist to be liked or approved of by others.

He didn't like what he saw and it's shaken his belief in God. As an Atheist, perhaps I recognize this quite starkly because I moved to a position of a non-believer because of what I have seen and experienced. Jesus not only spoke the truth at all times; He IS (as He said) the Way, and the Truth, and the Life (see John 14:6).
Through His weakness, by submitting to death on the Cross, and by His Resurrection to glory, He defeated SIN and DEATH, our greatest enemies.

In the Scriptures, the word 'saint' refers to ALL those who believe in the Lord and are sanctified through their faith. 'And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.' The concept of a superior class, a spiritual elite which does the heavy lifting while the rest of the Church watches, is not very Scriptural, the Old Testament prophets notwithstanding. I hope that you take this as an ENCOURAGEMENT, my friend.
Your witness to the righteousness, grace, and mercy of our Lord Jesus is as valuable as that of the next guy.

@@blakebunch4485 I'd like to answer this since the commenter did not. It's not exactly "not true", however faith and attempting to follow Christ is not ALL based on works, or our actions in life. If that were so, nobody could ever cut the mustard at all, because we ALL fall short. It's more about your repentance for bad actions and forgiveness. Peterson has said he "isn't good enough" to say he believes in God. He never will be. None are. But with Jesus, the point is you bring your sinful self to Him and He helps create in you the person you need to be. The argument between protestant and Catholic has always been works or faith and i think it's very silly, since i believe it takes both very much. Idk what you'd call me. I simply call myself a Christian. The thing is, if one makes the decision in their heart and soul to follow Christ, there's no way their works or actions don't improve. They must. So one comes along with the other. But Peterson must understand that he will never be good enough. None are. He must humble himself and bring himself, sinfulness and all, before God. Repent and accept the love of God. That's all. Good works, or better works simply follow that. But nobody would be perfect because then we wouldn't need God. We would be God.

@@blakebunch4485 someone commented that it was false to say we need to "act out" our beliefs, and you asked "why's that?" That's why I put it the way i did. Of course, it is not false. We do, to the best we can achieve, need to act out our beliefs and live them in our lives. But, that's not all there is to it. It just seems to me that Peterson is waiting for a perfection that will never arrive, if he thinks he must be "good enough" before he surrenders himself to God. Again, if any of us were good enough, we wouldn't need Jesus, or his sacrifice, because we would just be perfect. Don't get me wrong, i love Jordan Peterson. But to say anyone isn't "good enough" to state that they believe, well, that's the point, none are. Not even the very best human on earth is. We are supposed to unashamedly believe and unashamedly say so. We don't need to wait until we are "good enough" because God knows we aren't and he loves us anyway and wants us to come to him anyway. Now, i definitely don't agree that one can stay in their awful, sinful, behaviors and still claim to follow Jesus. Again, once you surrender yourself and decide to follow that path, your works in this world will change, because you have chosen this path.

This is False. I almost agree with Peterson, however, this is a secular view. The Bible is pretty clear that there are believers and non believers. The beauty of God is the Mercy He shows us sinners, which Peterson understands. Perhaps Jordan represents a type of Doubting Thomas, as he denies this clear fact: God allows us to fail through life so that we might find our Faith:
Genesis 15:6 "Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Ephesians 2:9 "Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it." [Not by works but by Faith]
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
This is further enforced by this realization:
John 14:9 "Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?"
The requirement to have seen Jesus and have faith that you've also seen the Father is to have first believed.
And again, belief enforces the power of our will:
Revelations 12:11 "And they overcame him [antichrist/the beast] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

If God "Allows us to fail through life so that we might find our Faith".....what happens if we don't find that Faith? In fact, if you don't have Faith to begin with, and we Fail, does that mean non-believers are all going to Hell by default, even if we led lives free of hurting others, had families, led others to success and contributed to Society in a measured and meaningful way? What becomes of of me, an Atheist, if I have led a principled life, helped others, contributed to Society and didn't hurt others? Since I am not part of "The Club of Faith I am doomed according to God? This is why Religion, and by extension, belief in a higher being, will always be a circular argument. A Benevolent God would put no such constraints on their Creation, putting traps and pitfalls in their path, gleefully waiting for them to fail only to throw us into a burning Pit when "He" knew all long it was an unobtainable and impossible exercise. The Bible may be full of Wisdom and Warnings and perhaps set people on a moral path but it is no proof of God. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and nobody has that evidence becasue it simply doesn't exist.

If you are a creation of God, and you don't meet his standards, why do you get to choose what survives or is thrown into the trash, but He who created you does not? Do you consider yourself a person who loves? If you have thrown anything out that is distasteful to you, then I would ask, why should I believe that you are capable of love? @William Kievit I'm not a groupie! I'm a realist, in so far as I live in the real world, not in the make believe! A boy is a boy, a girl is a girl. But, a boy who thinks he's a girl, I concede will be a 'she'. A girl who thinks she's a boy, I concede will be a 'he'.
But, 'they'!? Give me a break. Pronouns are not sacred but they shouldn't be thrown about stupidly. Unless you are stupid, of course.

Peterson pointed it out. You were where you needed to be already. This is the same as Jesus deriding those who tried to grasp what they tried to, with the old, "Oh ye of little faith." He didn't say, "Oh ye of NO faith." Belief is an infinite thing, it must be, it is.

don hall I agree with Jordan on this. And how can we be good if we are striving for goodness?
One who is truly good wouldn't have to do that.

Docbndgrl9113 We should always strive to be better brother. I know that I have lots of room for improvement and I’m constantly working on it. Two thousand years ago, the Creator hung on a cross to pay for my sins, to give me life, so I’m going to head His words and always strive for righteousness.

I truly believe you were put here to return hope to us. To rekindle every thing we have let fall to the wayside. You're passion and intelligence is so powerful, I felt it just a few minutes time. I haven't stopped listening since. I accidentally opened the UA-cam app, when shoving my cell phone into my pocket to free my hands while working under my truck. While my hands were greasy and busy, your voice started speaking from my pocket. It was the 13 Ways of Life (I believe it was called). Five minutes in, and I lay there on the hot concrete, arms still shoved up inside my motor, frozen in place listening. The world around me had faded to background noise and, for a moment, all I heard was your voice on the video. I began to cry because something just clicked inside me. Your words made sense, and it was just what I needed. The night before I had sat in my garage at 2 AM . Unable to sleep, because of all the sadness and worry I felt about the world today. About how hard and painful life really is. Wondering why? What is the return? Why are we here? To feel pain? I felt lost.
So, with my heart hurting, and my soul broken, I asked 'Why? Please tell me, show me where I'm lacking. So I can grow and make my life better than it is today. Better than it was yesterday. And I promise, I will continue to build on that. How can I fix this?". Then by accident, your video began playing, and my answer was right there. Thank you. My soul needed a recharge.

      I actually hurt for him.
He has such a brilliant mind, but he battles with ' Faith'.
He tries so hard to reason ; but if he could just release that all to God and accept the love and gift of Christ... I just pray he will.
I really pray a lot, because he has a huge influence and following. If he could harness that all for the purpose of Christ...
      He'd make great Christian ;)
