This is my first playthrough on Chapter One and i played on "APOCALYPSE" difficulty.
Could this be Doom's best mod? Perhaps. But the search continues!

When i tell people "I love the 80's" they always think of surface level bs like glam rock and the breakfast club. Nah man, I'm taking about Jordan Maxwell and art bell. I'm talking about the C.I.A. , earth cataclysm cults. I'm taking 80's icebergs... lots of them. I like to believe this was created by people who are knee deep in the 80's too. Everything that came before, peaked in the 80's. Everything now came from the 80's. I'm talking about what's behind the curtain of course. Ashes 2063 is like a fever dream for me. ❤

not gonna lie this line literally makes me want to start an ashes themed cannibal clan on rust xD oh the memes would be dam near endless if done properly with big enough clan with like 4-500 + members organizing raids on random rust servers going after everybody not in the clan but only taking their food / flesh and water xD

Played through the whole thing, very much the best Doom mod out there.
It's one of the best campaigns in a shooter period.

I love expanding on this era's aesthetic - I only had a few games growing up that fit this bill, namely doom, Dark Forces and Outlaws.
Oh man pure 80's nostalgia right here. Thanks for showing me this existed. Everything about it works perfectly together to create an amazing mod. The soundtrack is killer too the one on the first level there brought back so many 80's game memories and feelings. Man movies and games were amazing back then, nothing beats them seriously. One of a kind classic stuff that every other decade has tried to copy for sure.

this is epic
Even though it is arguably very similar to Fallout/Stalker, it perfectly fits in that niche between doom, duke nukem, blood and shadow warrior.
Primarily because it is exceptional at what it's doing and combines the best of all worlds so to speak.
This is both a stand alone and a hidden gem.
I saw the playthrough twice so far and i wouldn't mind playing through this myself, if it was available on console.
The fallout fx is pleasant.

Just finished it. The plot was pretty good even if it ended abrutly. The last level made me sweat ! I'll do the sequel soon, hope it's as good.
It's much bigger and harder, especially in some places... But it's so good.

afterglow was boring , confusding , not clear about where to go, , i prefered the linearity seen in 2063.

A Doom Fallout game like this would be amazing.
That's actually what about Ashes series is all about :) With a slightly addition of Stalker. There's more RPG elements in the Episode 2: Ashes Afterglow. Also, the prequel for EP2 "Hard Reset" is in production already with possible release date in 2023 as well as Episode 3, but all is known about EP3 that it should be made, no release date at all.

This game was such a masterpiece. The music, the world, the many easter eggs and references, LOVED IT.
...Except those screeching banshee enemies that would ambush you. Didn't love those. 😬
I'd go as far to say this is genuinely one fun and enjoyable fps game too

Doom mods are so awsome that I could've sworn the developers from ID noticed and added glory kills in the game.

now lets say after some time and someone figures out how to get access to the source code for assassins creed black flag. imagine what the game would be.
After you have finished this, its addon and afterglow you can go to blade of agony. Probably the 2nd or 3rd best TC for doom.
Then total chaos.
And aftewards, the city of the damned 2. (No need to play the first one.)
Tons of stuff to enjoy :p
There's also brutal doom + eradication day. Tho i bet you already played this one.

Ashes 2063 originally looked much worse, but before Afterglow was released they updated it with new sprites and features, added dam level, put Dead Man Walking in the whole package. That's why it's called Enriched Edition

I use v.4.11.1.0. I don't know if it's the latest one or not.
The engine is more like Duke Nukem.

No skill tree as far as I know. But you can upgrade/mod weapons through some traders if I remember correctly.

That's just 1 of the many amazing things about this whole total conversion. The amount of stuff this does, in Doom 2's engine is unbelievable.

This mod look more like based on Duke Nukem than Doom :) Nevertheless would like to play it 25 years ago. No time for that now.

@@francoplajs It is probably because I am on Windows 11 (will go back to Win 10 next week) but when I start the standalone it states an error:
Execution could not continue.
Could not create command buffer: out of host memory
Weird. I am on windows 11 and I haven't encountered any errors.
