I feel like Ashes and it's sequel are the perfect cautionary tale about adding an open-ish world into a game (for me anyway, I know people love the sequel, I bounced off it). The absolute best thing about Ashes is the tone and the pacing, and driving down a random side road hoping for something substantial that adds to the world or the lore or the experience and finding a box of ammo and an overcharge is... god it's heartbreaking. Can't recommend the first episode enough though! Between this, Hedon Bloodrite, and allegedly Divine Frequency (just has a demo currently but that game is NUTS), the Doom engine might just be one of the best engines of the 2020s.

GReat mod. Both the music and lighting remind me a lot of the Playstation’s port of the original + Hell on Earth. Sound design in general is fantastic. I love the moans, whispers and grunts.

EDIT: FOUND THE FIX FOR ANYONE WONDERING WHAT'S UP You HAVE to play under GZDOOM 4.11.3. The newest build is not working somehow.
