Wasting the pulp is your own choice. I use mine for a multitude of purposes. Soups and stews, baking with, I even freeze it and mix it with frozen pineapples and bananas to make sorbets. Even better when you mix it with yogurt and make Popsicles. Use it in smoothies.
If it is being wasted that is the fault of the person throwing it away.

If you have a Norwalk, the pulp literally is dried out. I wouldn't think dried out pulp is good for much...but yes the pulp that most juicers produce after they 'juice' is still good to use. I recommend a 2 step juice process...get a Champion Juicer and a hydraulic press.

As a health coach myself and wellness expert, I'm a tad disappointed that Marra (on the left) says it's 'ridiculous to eat a salad this big' and is talking about calories. I think juicing is a great way to get nutrients into the body as a supplement, however juicing only fruit and removing the fiber is not a good way to 'reset' the body as they talk about. huge misconception. She doesn't seem to truly understand that much about juicing. eek!

As a normal person, I think it's extreme to only do/eat a certain thing over a couple of days. I think the body works better with a mix of food types and cooking styles, as long it's kept generally healthy.

+Nikki Sharp It's a life style change so you are right. The best way to cleanse the body so that it isn't a one time thing and someone quits is to do stair steps with it all. And, one thing that needs to be changed is getting the healthy fiber of salads and the snack food carbs out. I love the idea of a juice already done for me, and that helps. So, this idea of "moon juice" is great. But, it needs to be better presented with balance. Great comment, Nikki.

Don’t get consumed listening to all that BS. Sugars in fruit are good for you. It’s natural, not artificial so can’t nobody tell me I shouldn’t be eating something that’s natural and in its purest form. I eat as much fruit and home made smoothies as I want and idc. I’m lean, healthy and thriving. Obviously, if you’re diabetic, process insulin insufficiently, or have specific GI, allergy problems, then do what’s best for your body. But for the average person, eat as much fruit as you want 🍉🤪.

I am just under 500 pounds currently and the best thing for my health condition and obesity has been the daniel fast, which you can eat tons of quality fresh real food. Just no meat, sugar, fried food, pretty much anything I love! For 21days and only water to drink. So day 1 was excited, 2nd day I thought my husband hated me, and 3rd day worst one ever I cried and threw fits like 2yold! Sugar withdrawl!! And clean ya out let me tell ya, in next post!

Except that what the guy says at the end.. about mixing in healthy "solid foods" along with a juice cleanse just totally deafeats the whole health benefit of "giving the whole digestive system a total break" during the cleansing, which has enormous benefits toward an overall cleansing of the body! For ex: If the Liver (to name just 1 result of eating while cleansing) is still having to "do it's job, rather than take a break".. meaning it is then STILL having to filter what ur eating, your stomach still has to digest the solids, your intestinal tract doesn't get a break either... it's only with a "juice only, mainly green juice fast/cleanse" etc that you're giving your whole digestive system a BREAK... hence.. the whole REBOOT to the metabolism, blood, everything.. to include resetting your stomach acids (to a more alkalined state), if the whole digestive system is still having to work AT ALL (by eating sold foods during fast/cleanse etc) then doesn't it stand to reason that it is not getting the necessary "break to facilitate better chance of a total cleanse? It is the total "break from having to work at filtering CURRENT solid foods that allows the body to cleanse what is ALREADY BUILT-UP WITHIN (toxins/metals etc) to begin loosening it all up and expelling it... by a total fast from solid food, yet combined with the incredible nutrient-rich and life-giving power of green juicing simultaneously, we are sustained and given the energy to DO the fasting from solid foods, able to be healed more adequately of especially digestive issues, reflux, gastroparesis, intestinal problems, diabetes, indegestion, heartburn, inability to digest foods well.. and a myriad of other health concerns.. to include Liver disease (which I myself have, and am currently attempting to reverse thru green juice cleansing, exercise, and more.

I just added juice to my diet. It's actually helped me control my cravings. I think it's either because of the high amount of natural sugars or just the added nutrients, but it works. On top of that I'm just trying to eat good whole foods like fish, rice, beans, sweet potatoes and other greens and fruits and it seems to be working out just fine for me. I've already lost some weight by doing this and adding it to my regular routine, but the best part is it's seemed to have helped my early onset of arthritis and carpal tunnel that's happening in my hands. It's not nearly as painful to type as it was a month ago. Overall it's not a bad video I think the guy at the end has it right though you don't need to do a total cleans you just need to change the foods you eat and eliminate the bad crap.

Three days ain't nothing. I've been in an 80% juice fast for about 20 days now, and not only I've lost some weight - about 13 lbs - but I also feel better, breath more easily, got rid of some allergies and suddenly started to feel with enough energy to exercise. No way I'd eat this much fruits and vegetables before the juicing. And I only replaced 4 of my 5 daily meals for it to work. I also enjoy having one kinda-healthy-but-really-tasty meal a week, so that I do not get sudden cravings for junk food at all. They just stopped before it could do any real good effects on their bodies.

Whereas I think it is a good idea to take as much fruit and vegetables as possible, we see here a mass of fibre going to waste - as one of the ladies said, you would not eat this much in a salad. I am currently curious about juicing as far as fructose effects the liver and how much fibre is necessary to stop the negative effects. What would be best of all would be if the wasted fibre could be stirred back into the juice so that nothing goes to waste!

+Alan Heath Juicing is something you must watch with sugars. So, yes, you are right. I found that after carrot juice I would pass out. The sugar was too much for my body. So, I have to be really careful with the sugary vegtables. But, for my family who can handle the sugar better, I turn the carrot shavings into carrot cake. My husband likes to just eat the waste/wastings from juice by the handfuls . He says he likes how it makes his body feel. But, he hates juicing and rarely ever does it. Also, I think people need to be careful with beets. You have to add apples or something to them because of the very high levels of something (forget what)..There is some really good juicing groups on fb for those who want a lifestyle change.

I don't really like eating in the morning so I always have a juice made in a smoothie blender. Cucumber, summer fruits, coconut water, koko milk & raw cocoa powder :-) If you eat healthy, its unnecessary to go on a juice fast but absolutely fine to have a juice a day. I'd consider it after Christmas time though (or a couple of days of junk food eating for whatever reason).

    • @WaterspoutsOfTheDeep
      @WaterspoutsOfTheDeep 10 років тому +6

      Beatwize6
You don't know what the hell you are talking about.
Fiber does not kill diseases. All you get in blending is fiber. Fiber is fiber nothing special. Fiber is not hard to get in a diet. Fiber BLOCKS the absorption of nutrients. You LOSE NUTRIENTS BLENDING. Blending will make you feel more full with the fiber but thats it.
The fiber from blending makes blending horrible for health purposes and on a cost basis. A person absorbs 4-8 TIMES more nutrients from juicing vs blending which means you save lots of money, get more bang for your buck and get healthier FASTER. Juicing also lowers the stress on the digestive system which is what you want when cleansing. Blending does not.
Blending is more for having a filling meal once you are healthy to stay healthy. Juicing is for cleansing and for restoring health. Both are good, everyone should do both, I do both. But don't talk like you know what you are talking about Beatwize6 because you obviously don't and are giving people misinformation.

    • @Scurvywormstudios
      @Scurvywormstudios 10 років тому +6

WaterspoutsOfTheDeep One, I am not a little girl. I am studying nutrition and food science in college. Okay so I did more research to help show you and found out that both Juicing and blending have pros and cons. When you remove the fiber from the produce, the liquid juice is absorbed into your blood stream quickly. If you are only juicing fruits, this would cause a rapid spike in blood sugar and unstable blood sugar levels can lead to mood swings, energy loss, memory problems and more!
Fiber is also filling and without fiber in the juice, some people tend to get hungry again quickly.

Good for those who are weekend drinkers and live on fast food. But for those who have come some way one their health journey I'd say this is a one-size fits all type of thinking, which in reality won't cut it. For instance if someone has an autoimmune disease (which millions of people in America alone actually do have), foods that normally seem to be "safe" or "harmless" for some people, can actually perpetuate an autoimmune flare for others i.e almonds...

Continued from below, day 5 while eliminating multiple times per day smelled like something crawled up and died! But then after day 6, wowzer! ENERGY a plenty! Plus no smell to my poo, heck even passing gas in an isle at grocery store was not embarrasing! Yeah and even lost 17pounds, then it was over, got sicker than a dog first day off it over an egg in hole! I do still eat most stuff juicing grean too now. Apples, lemmon, ginger is a fav of mine if having a rhuematoid flare up works right away

Juicing is certainly good for you and I find it funny that these girls say things like "it would be absurd to eat a salad that big" or "I'd never eat that much fruit, it'd make my sugar level spike". How stupid.....people LIVE off fruits and vegetables and it's the healthy way to live BTW!. Then the guy at the end who says he'd never recommend a 3 day juice cleanse, please. Whatever. The thing about fruits and vegetables is, you can eat as much as you want if that's all you're putting in your body!!!!

    • @iTekGeniusBar
      @iTekGeniusBar 10 років тому

whole foods, trader joes. If none of those are around you can go to amazon (sounds cray cray crazy) but soju is a good one or blueprintcleanse.com I suggest those two because you won't pay double the price for shipping Soju wants 80 to ship from their site but 30 from amazon. IT WONT MAKE YOU LOSE WEIGHT THOUGH!!! You lose weight initially because you have no food weight but it cleans out all the toxins in your system. Don't do longer than 3-7 days it throws off your metabolism. Ummm if all this sounds too much for you go to a sauna that is a good way because of sweating and um blueberries are great...

After years of yoga and solid nutrients, with the Covid crisis, I packed on a good 18 pounds. I’m back to yoga and a lot of walking and running because those are two activities I love. I was, out of desperation was considering a juice cleanse. Not now I’m not. After this video I get it, good nutrition and moving my body is all I need to be doing. A juice cleanse is a radical fad and juicing should be a component of good nutrition, not instead of.mm thanks a ton, girls.

But then the way the Biggest Loser contestants are actually losing weight is outrageous. They actually would be better off on a juice fast. Juice fasting really helped me.

I never seen the point in this, a lot of people who tried this say they missed eating, felt unsatisfied and even hungry .. Why not just eat all the stuff you're going to put into it even if it's a huge amount !! They're eating raw fruits and veggies (so eat untill you're full) you'll get so much more nutrients because of the skin ect and you feel satisfied and you will also detox from it :D problem solved (drink water too lol )

I myself am on day 3 of (i dont know how many) days of juicing; and i want to comment on the guy at the end urging people on this diet to eat snacks to supplement... gonna have to call shenanigans there. More often than not people who suffer from weight problems often suffer also from impulse control. Part of what makes the diet work is the psychological effects of achieving self discipline.
When someone with impulse control issues is taking steps to overcome that, the last thing they need is self induced temptation (and nuts and mastication would certainly be temptation to revert to old habits. i.e "if i have nuts whats wrong with lean turkey... then whats wrong with a sandwich." Then next thing you know that sandwich becomes a big mac. BELIEVE ME WITH FAT PEOPLE THAT HAPPENS) that's why we're fat.
juicing at the stage i'm in now at least feels sort of like a martial art for the inner body, as opposed to the outer. It's telling yourself you have the ability to do something and then forming that mentality into reality. A degree of Self esteem is granted within the first few days if one accomplishes this... (for me at least)
I'll admit if youre like these chicks and in your 20s or early 30s with perfect waist lines and asses, you wont get that from juicing, at best you may use it to slip into something that was a bit too tight last week, but for people like myself who have tried and failed over and over I have found in a short time juicing is giving me a renewed hope. I may still fail, but the self discipline I have have already achieved tells me that i won't ... but i'd just hate for someone to sabotage themselves on day one because of something some jerk said on the internet
If he were to give any advice it should be to not start any diet until consulting a physician regardless of what that diet is.
I myself am not going to claim to be an expert (though I am a nurse) but I think lots can be said for mentality when not just battling a disease like obesity, but really any disease, or physiological adversity.
Your metabolism is not just reset through the juice but hopefully by the end of your fast by your outlook on food is reset by having a better respect for what food is.
Remember guys, the goal is ultimately to EAT healthy, not to stay on a liquid diet forever. Thats why its called a fast, a diet like this could be great for some people who have lost that ability and they might have a new chance to gain it back. if you're 38 with a 2 year old like me regaining that discipline might make all the difference to the people who depend on you most.

One of the big things with juicing is that there aren't many nutrients in the juice itself. The skin and seeds and pulp of a fruit/veggie? Yes. But juicers take that out, the really expensive ones take less out but it's still missing nutrients. Some people will mix a protein powder into their juice...but I feel if you're going to do that just get a blender.

First off... this video is stirring up controversy... It's about cleansing, but refers to it as a controversial diet method.
Cleansing is NOT a diet, but merely an option to prepare you for a diet, or a means of cleansing your body occasionally.
What I see is a lot of people giving "their" views, when they don't have a clue what they are talking about.
As for Mr. dietician from "The biggest loser resort" Saying that he would never advise anyone to juice, shows his lack of intelligence and knowledge about real nutrition.
After all... He got his education from a subsidiary of Coke. And we all know how healthy coke products are.
Not to mention the outdated materials and misinformation they are taught.
This video is about "cleansing" NOT about a diet.
If you have cancer... Juicing is the best way to fight it. Juicing allows the nutrients to be absorbed by your body quicker, so it spends less energy digesting, while allowing more energy for fighting the cancer.
I do both juicing and blending.
Seriously... For those of you with limited intelligence... What's the difference between a glass of apple/orange juice in the morning or a glass juiced greens?
Also for those of limited intelligence.... How do you think your body gets the nutrients out of the fiber?
Your body is a "juicer". It squeezes the nutrients out of the fiber, just like a juicer.
Organic produce contains far more nutrients than regular store bought produce because of the soil conditions.

This is one the most unscientific things I've ever heard. A few excerpts:
"People get really freeked out about consuming juice because of the sugar content… but part of whats happening in a cleanse is you’re resetting your body to metabolize foods better. You’ll be able to - even coming off of the cleanse ‘ consume more fruit and your body will be able to burn though it very quickly."
"Anti oxidants are the building blocks of your cells."
These people clearly have no medical or scientific background.
I'm pro-juicing - but what these people are saying is baseless and wrong.

I've never had more energy cleansing. Personally, I love it. I'm 6' 1", 220lbs and consume about 1200 calories a day when cleansing. I think everybody responds differently, but I have never felt better. My cleanse consist of maple syrup, lemon and water. And OMG, after 3-5 days of no food, the fruits and vegetables I eat after cleansing never tasted so good. Who says we need three meals a day. There's so much controversy that it's hard to tell what's right and what's wrong. Therefore, the only thing I can really go by is how I feel. Yes, drugs make you feel good and food is the most powerful drug we have for our body and mind. Just try it. If it's not for you, don't do it, but we're so programmed on what and how we should eat and I believe a lot of these beliefs have only been around for a century. For example, breakfast is the most important meal of the day or you need to have three meals a day. I don't think folks 200 years ago eat three meals a day. Just try it.

The human body has evolved over the tens of thousands of years to eat and consume food in bulk form. That's why you have teeth. The size of your stomach is meant for those bulk foods. Drinking a nutrient dense juice is not normal for your body. Not saying an occasional liquid diet wouldn't be of benefit. The construction of your body's digestive tract and system will tell you the type and amount of food that it considers "normal" And the "type" of teeth you have is a clue as to what your diet should consist of.
