@@ReactionsToTheClassics This is akin to 'Land down under' for Aussies. Anywhere in Europe while backpacking, you could spot the Canadians when this played!
Classic Canadian bar band. Thanks for reviewing this. It feels strange listening to them without a beer in my hand. My brothers and I had a toast to Spirit of the West when we had our turn at Charing Cross Road.
Spirit of the West played at the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival about 10 years ago. The crowd sang along with the opening and after the first line John Mann jjust turned the mic toward the audience. We finished the intro, all 3500 of us, in tune and at tempo. It was a magical moment from a great concert.
Late to the party, but still here! Nice to see you.guys covering this one; only reaction to this song that I could find on UA-cam. Canada's Maritime provinces are home to a large Irish and Scottish population, and the "Old Country" culture is still very strong there. The 90s saw a huge resurgence of Irish-influenced music out of the area, with artists like: Spirit of the West The Chieftains The Irish Descendents The Men of the Deeps The Rankin Family The Barra McNiels Great Big Sea Ashley MacIsaac and others.
Love this song (like any good Canadian!) Thanks for reacting! Hey, you might want to react to another Canadian artist - kd lang - I'd suggest 'Pullin' Back the Reins' or 'Constant Craving' though her duet with Roy Orbison of 'Crying' is pretty awesome.
This song started out like a ballad, then shifts into high gear It sounds like a fun song with a lot of energy like you said Trey. Shawn, you made a good point that it sounds like an Irish pub song. Cool suggestion Trey to request this at a bar. I think it would bring excitement to the atmosphere of a bar. This is a fun video to watch. I enjoyed it.
Very late reply but as a Canadian, this song really brings up the energy late at night in a bar. It's like it's designed to get your foot stompin no matter what.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics not sure if you’ve checked them out but I must second that excellent suggestion and add The Dead South and Corbb Lund to that list.
Before the Vancouver (BC) rock station changed formats I could count on hearing this at least every other day in Bellingham WA. WHY DID YOU CHANGE JackFM?
RIP John you are at peace now. Love to see more experience the joy that is Spirt of the West.
Thanks for Watching!
Absolutely the Canadian drinking anthem. RIP John.
haha that is what we hear. Thanks for watching Andrew!
